Four Letter Word - DIET

Alexis - don't you just hate it when that happens [:@].  I feel for you.  I weighed in on Friday at 11st 7lbs - no change from the previous two weeks, however, on a sneaky weigh in on the Thursday, I was 11st 6lbs, so I was really good all day and blow me, put on a pound.  I even shaved my legs [:D].

Meeting up with some friends in a moment to go for a walk around the lake at St Pardoux.  Not too far, but we might do two circuits if we're feeling really adventurous.

Don't give up.

Jan

Not a good couple of weeks for me either, was back in the UK to sell my house there, so ended up meeting up with all my old friends and eating out nearly every night.

Have put on half a pound since my last weigh-in, so I must re-double my efforts next week.

Doesn't help that today was a friend's birthday, so there were lots of champagne and nibbly things at the local auberge lunchtime, what's a person to do?

For everyone that put on the odd pound after a blow-out the night before, remember that the contents of your stomach after a big meal weigh much the same as that big meal did on the plate, weigh yourselves again after a couple of days, don't be disheartened.  Even skinny minnies would suffer the same temporary consequences.

This "you are what you eat" healthy eating plan, is going really well now that I've found all the foodstuffs.

Don't own scales-  but have lost 4 cms  from bust and waist and 6 from hips so far, not much but its been a breeze and it's the right direction at least.

Just wondering, are pumpkin seeds in the UK sold 'shelled'? The ones I bought here aren't and I have been eating them whole - they are ok but the 'shells' are a bit tough, still  a good bit of roughage nevertheless!

Aren't we a bunch?

No, back on the straight and narrow and I hadn't even got off it[*-)]

I'll not be beaten when everything was going so well.

If this happens on Friday I shall kick the scales!!  The tape measure is still being kind though.

To think I was so pleased with the scales too.  After all I said!

Obviously faulty[:D]

When I did own some scales ( I think ra-ras and big hair were the fashion then and I didn't really need scales then!)I found that my weight varied depending where I weighed myself eg on thick carpet would give a different reading to a harder floor, so don't despair just move the scales around the house until you get the reading that you are happiest with!

IT'S NOT CHEATING BECAUSE THE SCALES NEVER LIE!

These are the first scales I have owned - or stood on - for about 25 years.  After the last 'let's diet for Christmas' fiasco when I seemed to be getting fatter, I bought some for the "new" diet.

Anyway, I have dusted the top and carefully wiped the feet because there might have been a stone or something underneath making them go wonky.......

[:D][:D][:D]

Next I shall weigh some bags of flour...just to check!
I'm not sure about an allowance for age but there is a differentiation between the BMI of men and women. I have a formulary somewhere with a series of BMI charts. I'll find it and get back to you.
I just had a bit of a hunt and came upon this site http://www.halls.md/index.htm which has all sorts of interesting height/weight calculations, for both men and women. It includes a BMI calculator, which makes adjustments for final body weight range depending on age and gender.

I'm not saying what my BMI came out at, but it's almost exacly half my age [:#]

My Beloved is home after his latest stay in hospital so, to celebrate; the old muscadet is slipping down a treat!  It is a month since I drunk alcohol!!

Let's hope he has the strength to carry me to bed later[:)]

I have decided - because of these changling scales - to weigh myself Friday and go on from there as if it was the first reading.

Still lost a stone though[:P][:P]

Thanks for the link Cat. The gender differentiation seems to mark one on the mean weight percentile which, being Americans that you're measured against, should be no cause for comfort, I'm afraid.

Having checked my charts, I see (as mentioned earlier) that BMI is constant for both men a women.

If you're BMI is half your age, does that make you 38yrs or is my maths lousy??? [*-)]

Well, up by 300g.

Could have been worse!  I am sure the scales were playing me around!  Up by nearly TWO kilos on Wednesday.....

Until I dusted them[:'(][:)]

So.  Not too bad after all the trauma and the bottle of Muscadet[:$]

Hope that you are all losers this week and not following my example but just you wait until next Friday......

It was a blip last week after all!   Have lost 2 lbs this week!   After being really evil as well.

Am signing off for now as having the knee replaced on Tuesday but should be out again on Saturday so will weigh in then and see if the new knee makes me any lighter!

Will endeavour to take the dieting much more seriously after the op...

Capio in Coley Park - food is good there!   Yes, of course all the specialists are the same!   The one who did my knee last time has given up private practice as he thinks dealing with the NHS patients is more interesting work.   You can tell who's who at the hospital, it's the Aston Martins that give it away!   Will give up our private insurance after this op, will have had our moneysworth and can save up for when the knees need doing again!

Hi all,

Just half a pound down this week. I had eaten some baguette (with butter) and also had frites during the week - total lack of self control!! I'm now at 13st 3lb / 185 lb / 84k total loss 6.5 lb / 2.8k's.

Weighed myself Saturday morning instead of the usual Sunday am as we had friends for dinner last night (very tasty they were too[6]) and the idea of weighing in after a few glasses of wine, fois gras, dauphinoise potatoes and pot au chocolat (the other bits of the meal were quite healthy) didn't seem like a good idea to me.

I'm going to be really good this week - I WANT to lose 2 lb at least. I'm off to get dressed and get the spade out to dig over the potager, that should help [W]

Hi All,

Congratulations to those who have lost, and suppotive vibes to those who have plateaud or blipped. I've lost 500g this week so now on 85.8k. Surprised to have lost anything at all - not especially good and much less exercise than usual.

La Vieille, good luck with the knee op. Sure you'll be pirouetting in no time.[Y]

Well I back as well. Down to 90 Kgs... 20 more to go [:$]

Not dieting... but a combination of deciding between Breakfast or dinner given the corporate restrictions on spending... is making a dent int he fat.

Down side is that I need new clothes. Over the last six months I have lost 25 Kgs... [:O]

I try and stick to Atkins... but am largely only drinking... Vodka [:$]

25 kilos is excellent.  Well done!

I have taken myself in hand after the Christmas Cake fiasco...I counted calories[:)][:)][:)]  Boiled egg, enormous piece of cake as I work on the principal that it is better to get the thing eaten, and a nice salad.....

Anyway, next week is Valentine's Day and don't forget we had goals to reach!!!!!!!

About this vodka, I have decided that Ricard and water is about the best carb free drink you can have.  Unless someone knows differently?

Not that I drink of course.  Just in case....

Hello everyone, can I join again?[:D]

Afraid I have had restricted iternet access since the beginning of December, very painful. I didnt manage to get into the little black dress for Christmas but have come across a strange problem. Wont go into details but have stuffed myself everyday from 6th Dec to 30 Jan and only put on 2 kilos. Have put fat picture on fridge since then and living on 3 biscuits and an apple a day and have not loss an ounce in 10 days. Would be happy with the situation if I wasnt about 2 stone overweight. [8-)]

Have been driven to test the ricard and water.

Any help gratefully accepted

Jan
