This is an unfortunate photo taken a few days back. It's of the Canal du Midi near us and the photo shows some of the 109 tree stumps where the trees have had to be felled due to fungal infection. It also shows the canal empty for the anual maintenance... Some of the trees were 350 years old or so! Very sad.

We were walking from the bridge again today and there are another 6 trees cut on the left hand bank too. It is so very sad. They were lovely trees and so majestic...

Edit. The right hand side had as many trees as the left!

Was here a few hours ago,  I was driving home from the supermarket and the sun was shining through, thought of you guys [:)] and stopped the car and took a quick photo out of the car window. Not spectacular but just pretty. It is hard to tell from the photo but this area is quite high but of course not as high as Dirty Tom's and Dago's [:)] That is the village Tamnies in the distance in the first photo.

Perhaps the novelty of this thread will wear off soon. [Www]

Those colours are quite striking Christine...

Ryanair aren't all bad. They fly past the Old Cité of Carcassonne when the Tramontine wind is blowing. This was taken during the approach on one of our where are we going to live visits.

And I couldn't resist this. Just one flower looking our way. It's nice to be different!

Another from the Pic du Nor. The Pair-a-nees (Pyreneese realy) mountains 100 or so miles away!

The River Aude taken from the old bridge, just under the Old Cité. It was the middle of the day with brilliant sunshine. I shut the apperture right down and the shutter speed was 2000th if I remember right.

Not sure if this will work very well in the forum format:

Ancinnes viewed from one of our favourite walking routes east of the village.

Tha Canal du Midi near Trebes, close to Carcassonne. It is one of the only original bridges on the canal. A lovely peaceful walk...
