I didn't think Kernow was a French spelling.

Dulux Valentine do a délaquer it claims to dépolit totes peintures. I have used it and it seems to be the equivalent of sugar soap. I am not sure that it would wotk on ceramic though. I am assuming your tile are ceramic. Basically it takes the top skin off paint.

I swear by Geoff Hamilton's The organic Garden . It cover flowers, fruit etc as well as veg.

The roadside reflective things on poles are very good for identifying the edge of the road. However their use and density seems to vary from department to department. Coming north from Toulouse they were close together through Lot and were very useful. Once we got to Correze however, they were more sparse. Perhaps it would be a good idea if ther were some regulations as to their use. Hey, this is France how come ther is not a statuary spacing?

Some biblioteques and mediateques have internet facilities. Pages jaunes may list them but it seems that there is no automatic entry for businesses. Our departmental pages jaunes does not list the biblioteque in Uzerche which I know for a fact has internet facilities.

Also be aware that the French treat an Ebay business the same as any other and you will have to pay cotisations etc. I believe that ther is info somewhere else on a forum.

I would also give a thought to the traveling time to schools while you are looking for a home. Limousin is big and some areas are sparsely populated so the journey time can be long. We are only 20 mins from Brive and Uzerche but the school bus goes past our house around 5:30 in the afternoon. Heaven knows what time the children get home in the back of beyond.

Gererally prune in spring. If you want to realy hack do one side each year. They seem to respond very well to cutting.

To me being able to speak French (not well admittedly) is a matter of necessity. We can hope to find an English speaker as Cat says but can you be sure that if you have to phone SAMU in the middle of the night you will be understood in English? I had to do just that back in the summer.

I haven't come across a ballon where you could feel any escaping heat. I believe that they are glass lined and certainly are very effective. When you consider the imersion heaters in England and the lagging ! Incredibly inefficient

We had just French TV for 4 years. I think the only realy useful prog for improving our French was the news with PPDA. Otherwise the poor copies of who wants to be a millionaire, weakest link etc didn't help. I like Arthur hosting a strange guessing game which is called deal/no deal in English and hosted by Noel Edmunds. Arthur is much prettier! The dramas were OK but not great and the humour required to enjoy Louis le Brocante was beyond us. So we have just recently given in and got English freeview.

I can understand the logic of your reply. However, it seems strange that such infrequently used routes should feature on the série bleue maps. Surely routes used for collecting coppicing etc would be known to the owners? How are walkable routes other than GR etc shown on maps?

Walking locally we were directed by a hand written notice towards a "sentier pedestre". After we completed a very pleasant walk I checked with a local map and found the path described as a "chemin d'exploitation". It was not possible for tractors to drive the length of this path as there were low trees etc. So what is a chemin d'exploitation, can we walk them freely? There are a good number marked on the maps and they look interesting for walks.

Fabric conditioners can affect certain parts of some tumble driers - check the instruction book. Something todo with fancy electronics if I remember correctly.  

I was thinking of getting just a DVD recoder as we already have a VHS/DVD combo but the DVD part is dead. I think I should be able to hook up the VHS to a DVD recorder to transfer my tapes. Any advice anyone?

All very true. Gray's Elergy written in 1751 expresses the same ideas wrapped in beautiful poetry.

Sorry, not a positive reply as I bought mine in the UK specifically to bring over. The only quibble I have with it is that after four years some of the indicators are wearing off (the 1-10 sort of thing)

Is there a furniture chain in France which has furniture of a reasonable quality and price? I have checked out Conforama, But and Fly - cheapand cheerful or cheap and tatty depending on your viewpoint. I then went to Mobilier de France, La Roche Bobois and Levitan. Lovely quality but ouch the price. I am only looking for some sort of biblioteque, living or such to put the hifi,  cds, phone etc on.
