Expatshield not connecting?

Recommended Posts

Coops, it's basically a torrent site where you can download pretty much any British tv show that's been out. You'll need a torrent program such as utorrent to download the files, but it's a good alternative to iplayer.

Jay, they are nazi's that run the site, but as long as your ratio is ok, there's not much of a problem really. For me, I upload far more than I download.

I tried again today and it was still not working, so I removed the programme (version 1.56) and then downloaded it again.  This time it showed as version 1.57.  I can now make a connection, but when I try to view a programme on IPlayer the old message saying "not availble in my area etc" comes up.  Not sure what else to do! Technical problems:

Yesterday...

Currently

our UK service is experiencing some down time due to a hardware issue,

which is now being fixed. Full service is expected to resume in the next

24 hours. We value and care about all of our users and are very sorry

for any inconvenience this issue has brought to you. After the fix is

in place, ...

Today (16 hours ago)....

The

needed hardware piece is now at location and awaiting installation.

Hopefully everything will be back online soon (possible a bit longer

than the promised 24 hours). Again, very sorry for any service

interruption. Stay tuned - we'll update once the

installation/testing is done and everything... is up and running.

Latest from Expat Shield Facebook page

Still working on getting the new hardware up

(ran into few issues), but please be assured, work is in progress. We

wish we could speed up the process, but at this time we have to wait

until everything is fixed before going back online with ExpatShield. We

are also working on procedure steps to make sure such long outages never

happen again.

Thank you.about an hour ago

Email received from Nick Shepherd of Expatshield, yesterday:

Hi -- Thanks for reaching out. We're aware of the current

issue with Expat Shield, and we apologize for the inconvenience. Unfortunately,

we have a server issue in the UK, so UK servers are redirecting to the

US.  The issue will be fixed this week. Sorry again for the inconvenience.

Also, an FYI, this isn't the technical support email. We

will be updating Expat Shield users from our Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/expatshield

Thanks,

The AnchorFree Team

http://hotspotshield.com/

gives you a US IP address and

Hotspot Shield runs on:

 • Windows 7
 • Windows XP
 • Windows 2000
 • Windows Vista
 • Mac OS X (10.4 Tiger)
 • Mac OS X (10.5 Leopard)
 • Mac OS X (10.6 Snow Leopard)
http://www.expatshield.com/ is by the same company and gives you a UK  IP address but a Mac version is not yet available.

Works on Windows XP/Vista/7

They are both free but supported by advertising.

But....if you use Firefox with the Adblock Plus add on there are no adverts....

Wait 'till they've fixed it. You can either look on Facebook or wait until I or another member posts here to say it is back up.

Edit

Latest 2 posts from Expat's facebook page...

THE FINAL UPDATE

This is it....we're BACK ONLINE!

Thank You ALL for your patience and enjoy.

Then

Sorry

everyone, engineers found few more issues after everyone jumped on at

once so we had to revert everyone back to US IPs for the time being.

Should have "the final update" in the next few hours.
A related question, I understand that the 'Mac' version of this is 'Hotspot Shield'.

Does anyone on here have any experience of using this?

.
No, Hotspot Shield is for the US, there isn't a Mac version yet.

Anyway .... Expat Shield is working correctly again!
