Where to buy glass?

Like Will, I go to a shed - Brico Depot or Mr Bricolage.  I find the prices expensive compared with what I was used to in the UK where I would buy full or half sheets from a glazier or a picture-framing wholesaler and cut to size myself, but I've never seen the equivalent here.

[quote user="Cassis"]€21 m2  is still dear - about twice the UK price for 3mm or 4mm from the glazier.  Do vitriers sell to the public?

Maybe Cassis likes things to be dearer, makes him feel all the poorer

and better for it. As for grumbling, I hadn't noticed much more than

tongue in cheek grumbles....Anyway if you're quick you can catch the

Charlotte Church repeat on the box right now. That will make you feel

warm and at home, before going to kip [:)]

Dave, you will have gathered by now that Cassis is a male sausage, not female. [:P]

Dotty, we got ours from a Brico Depot. I thought it was expensive, but it was even worse when we found out that 'He Who Is Never Wrong' had  eeerrmmmm, got it wrong.[:-))]

Hi

Just thought I would say I always buy my replacement glass at LeClerc - very helpful as I frequently get mixed up with the sizing.  They don't cut glass in August which I have found happens with most of them.  We have not found a specialist glass provider/cutter but presumably they must exist.   One of those places will only discover when everything has been done.

Good luck

Good grief, Dave, where do you get that load of cobblers from?  I make a

simple observation that I find glass dearer here and ask if you can get

it cheaper from vitriers or somewhere else rather than going to the

sheds and you come out with that - what's your gripe?  Your post doesn't really hurt that much, thanks, but it's still a load of cobblers.

I

have never said the weather is worse; I have never said the people are

crap; I have never said the buildings are jerry built.  For the record,

the weather is better (usually); all the French I know have been warm

and welcoming; and I have on several occasions defended French builders

against others' attacks.  I am also on record in several posts where I have said that I find the overall cost of living here about the same as in the UK.

I have no idea where you are coming from with

this.  I can only assume you've managed to confuse me with someone else. [8-)]

Yeh but apart from all that you might have said something else [;-)]
