  2. Two situations that frequently occur come to mind .A woman will call the police during an incident of domestic violence yes she wants her assailent arresting, yes she will bring charges, then the next morning shes on the phone she loves him, its her fault ,he can't help it etc.Or she calls the police ,when they arrive shes changed her mind,he starts fighting the police ,they go in to arrest him and the woman turns on the officers.Sadly to deal with domestic violence we don't just have to change male attitudes .
  3. Sadly domestic violence in all its forms is still a major problem in the UK not just France ,despite there being more measures in place than ever before .Violence against males is far more common than people realise most men will not hit a woman even if that woman is kicking seven bells out of him.Because of the macho male image a man often feels he can not ask for help and admit whats going on
  4. I agree there is a tendency to use the term depression for a feeling of being a bit 'down' or disgruntled. this could easily be affected by looking at what other people have and comparing it to yourself.True clinical depression you could have everything you wish for and would still be ill
  5. I had mine at my GPs in the UK last week as I am asthmatic and work in health care.I had a sore arm for a few days and felt a bit 'off' but nothing like as bad as flu would have been even mild flu
  6. To stay realistic, people are far more likely to post about problem neighbours than they are to post about how wonderful their neighbours are.I certainly have great ones ,and Im sure most of us do .However reading on forums such as this about neighbours from hell can change peoples perspectives and give a false idea as to how many people do have problems.
  7. My holiday home is near Vichy which is one of the bigest spas.A lot of people visit for a 'cure' Although some of the waters are ok some are foul ,but, judging by the number of patients ,it must work. One thing I like is because a large number of elderly people take the cure I feel young when I go to town
  8. STUFFED COURGETTES Boil courgettes [how many depends on number eating, if you are having this for starter or main etc] until cooked but not over squidgy.Cut in half and scrape out flesh from the shells reserve both Combine equal amounts of goats cheese and grated hard cheese add the cougette flesh ,chopped spring onions and mixed herbs to taste, season and mix all together using an egg yolk to bind.Mix to a fairly smooth consistency Place the courgette shells on an oven tray and fill with the cheesy mix .At this point you can leave them in the fridge for a while. When you are ready to cook cover the stuffed shells with breadcrumbs and pour a small amount of melted butter over the top Bake in a pre heated oven at 180 degrees until golden brown This is good for a lunch, a starter or a veggie main course
  9. If we are there guests contribute to cooking shoping ,meals out etc If we aren't then we expect the cost of fuel and water to be covered but we don't make a profit because we feel a house benefits from being used.We once let someone use the house without paying anything as they had financial problems but they left us a very nice present. I dont think true friends would expect to live for free. and I wonder what if said friends are reading the article?
  10. Yes and she was spending that a few years ago when the exchange rate was better!God knows how much she would spend today
  11. As a FYI a relative did something similar with Ibuprofen .A friend bought her some from Boots and she didn't realise they were 400mg not the 200mg you can buy anywhere .She ended up in hospital after taking several double doses [although this might not have been related].After her discharge I went to care for her and she asked for some tablets Im a nurse and automatically check medication strength I gave her just one explaining why, by the look of horror on her face I knew what had happened
