  1. Well done to you and the people on here who gave you good advice. Also thanks for letting us know how it went. often people on forums just ask for help and you never hear from them again. It must be a big relief for you to have been successful. It's funny how different prefectures seem to have their own interpretation of the regulations and approach them in a different manner. I think we also were lucky that the prefecture we dealt with in Blois was very helpful from the security man on the door onwards.
  2. Looks like Doris on Facebook has struck again. ??
  3. I think that instead of using water cannons the police when dealing with the idiot rioting protesters should just spray them with disinfectant. Lots of them look like they need disinfecting. ??
  4. Interesting to see the age of the idiots or demonstrators as they call them selves. I wonder if they will be so vocal when they are in ICU.
  5. I wonder where that leaves people like me and my other half, who under the French system only got one shot of vaccine because we tested positive last year albeit with no symptoms.
  6. "Well come on Nick enlighten us" Gardian, I know no more than you or any other person on this forum, but I'm sure that unfounded comments aren't exactly helpful.

You really could not make it up - only the UK Gov has the ability to do that(!". You don't suppose for one minute that they might just know something you don't?
  8. Mr Huge wrote the following post at 05/07/2021 13:54: Boris Johnson is throwing £100m in subsidies to Nissan. No wonder they are happy to stay in Sunderland. (£100m is the estimate - he won't actually admit to how much the subsidy is.) You offer two scenarios here, A, Johnson is throwing £100m in subsidies to Nissan B, £100m is the estimate. So who's estimate, yours?.
  9. Rock wrote: "Australia deal: Chlorine and hormones from halfway around the world, needless to say much better deal for Australia. Vaccines: hahaha" Rock do you really believe that there are no Chlorine or Hormones in most meat production in the EU? As for Vaccines, I don't understand the hahaha, please explain what is funny about something that is saving lives?
  10. Sometimes ALBF you do make sensible comments and your thoughts on this subject are correct. Keep up the good work.☑️☑️
  11. Mint I can't believe you never heard of it, but of course, I suppose it depends on where you lived as a child. So on the morning before 12 miday on the 1st, the idea was to catch other kids out by saying and doing pinch and a punch, first day of the month. and no returns. if you didn't say no returns, they could say and do a pinch and a kick for being so quick. As said you could protect yourself by saying "White Rabbits" Just a tradition that we, approaching a combined age of 155 years of age, still practice. Some kids never grow up thankfully.
  12. Pinch punch first day of the month, no returns. Before I get accused by the ultra-sensitive the punch is a gesture, not a physical attack. Anyone else out there that still does this?
  13. OK if you say so it must be correct. ?? By the way, please don't underestimate my understanding.
  14. Big 5 eh including France? OK if you say so. "United States (GDP: 20.49 trillion) China (GDP: 13.4 trillion) Japan: (GDP: 4.97 trillion) Germany: (GDP: 4.00 trillion) United Kingdom: (GDP: 2.83 trillion) France: (GDP: 2.78 trillion) India: (GDP: 2.72 trillion) Italy: (GDP: 2.07 trillion)"
  15. "That "other forum" has many more posts/members than this one and in my opinion more friendly. " This is the funniest comment I've ever seen, OK it might have more members, but friendly. ????
  16. No brickbats please? OK for you to say that, she hasn't blocked you because you disagreed with her comments. It's not a matter of me throwing brickbats at all. It's a matter of someone using their powers to force their own views and not allowing others to do the same. Facebook gets lots of anti comments also not everybody has access to it. So you might want to assist people who aren't Facebookers and chance?

Judith wrote: "The Facebook page mentioned above has the full details, the UK gov site has some anomalies I understand .. but yes, they agreement is finally done, and information will come soon from the MOI. But the FB has all you need to know on it .." Of course, as Doris on Facebook knows everything. ???

    Storms

We had a huge storm last night in the Loir et Cher, I can't believe that trees weren't down this morning. The only casualty we had was that one of the Bat screens on our bedroom window got dislodged, and was blown down the garden. Anybody else have a bad night? The Bat screens are to stop the little fellas who live in the Oak lintels over the windows from getting into the house as if they do it takes forever to get them out. ??
  19. Well, as a retired TV/Film professional myself I think that the opening days of GB news have been full of glitches but their use of Zoom is no worse than the hugely experienced BBC and Sky. Come on folks give them a chance it's early days. I laugh constantly at the BBC and Sky "reporters" waving boom poles around and the results match their input. Mind you after over 45 years as a professional maybe I'm still not red hot at these things. ??
  20. I'm not totally up with the technical side of Satellites, but I do notice that in the Loir et Cher in the summertime we sometimes lose certain channels for a short time, mainly mid-day or afternoon. usually, it seems to affect channels 144, 155, PBS USA, and France 24 news. Unfortunately, it doesn't affect RTnews. It's only at this time of the year that this occurs.
  21. It also might make the idiot anti vaccines mob in France start queuing up.
  22. I can just imagine the French being the world banking centre, as much chance of being handcuffed to a ghost. Dear oh dear.
  23. I think Nadal is a wonderful tennis player, I just wish his mum would buy him the correct size underpants Also if you watch his antics between sets when he's sat in his chair, he must be one of the most superstitious people ever.
  24. We didn't stay very long Ken, we lived in Montreal and my Mother couldn't settle there.
