1. You should be able to get your C of C from DRIRE rather than Renault. Much cheaper - use the link contained within the sticky topic at the top of this forum about importing a UK car.
2. I see your point P2 - dogs are maybe a little different. When we came back to the car deck we found the cat on the driver's seat, curled up fast asleep. Not stressed at all it seemed! Just remember to turn off your ultrasonics when you lock the car!
3. That's very strange - never asked me for another 20 quid.........
4. For us the best option for our cat was to drive. Transmanche ferry. We put a small litter tray in the cat's transporter cage, but left the door open so he could make himself comfortable in the car. Put his fluffy bed on the back seat. Obviously we took turns driving as it's a long drive and we did it in one go (12 hour drive) The cat spent most of the trip curled up in the footwell behind the driver's seat. Had to be careful at toilet stops etc but for us it put much less stress on the cat than him flying. Can't recommend a removal company - you'd need to give an indication where you're moving from anyhow. I can certainly tell you a firm NOT to use because they were rubbish!
5. D'uh.... THE ONE THAT COMES UP ON THE MESSAGE!!!! www.sky.com/replacecard
6. Confusing in what sense?? I found it quite straight forward - enter you card number and an address for them to send you a new one to and it's done. Nothing to pay. No room for confusion........
7. That must be a big wood burner......... ;)
8.
Previously they would reconnect even if the fuse box looked like it dated from the 1930s.
........what's a fuse box...........?   [;-)]
9. http://www.onastra.co.uk/how-to-receive-astra/installation-assistent/index.php Gives you a step by step, easy to use guide which you can print for direction, elevation and lnb polarisation. Piece of cake - even easier than that if you use a 20 euro sat finder aswell (little box with an earpiece), got mine in Tridome.  Do-able without it but for 20 euro it's worth having. There are two satellites close together - if you pick up the French one instead then move the dish left a few degrees and up a smidge and you'll find Astra 2.  No need to go back down the ladder and unplug the box, it'll lose the lock as soon as it loses the signal. Ciao ciao.
10. WOW - 35 thousand square metres of electrical wiring.
11. A 'Heads Up' for those men who may be regular Brico customers. Over the last few months, I became a victim of a clever scam. Simply going out to get supplies has turned out to be quite traumatic. Don't be naive enough to think it couldn't happen to you or your friends. Here's how the scam works. Two seriously good-looking 20-21 year-old girls in skimpy little outfits come over to your car as you are packing your shopping into the boot. They both start wiping your windshield with a rag and bug spray, with their breasts almost falling out of their skimpy T-shirts. It is impossible not to look. When you thank them and offer them a tip, they say 'No' and instead ask you for a ride to another Brico. You agree and they get in the back seat. On the way, they start undressing. Then one of them climbs over into the front seat and starts crawling all over you, while the other one steals your wallet. I had my wallet stolen June 4th, 9th, 10th, twice on the 15th, 17th, 20th & 24th. Also July 1st, thru the 28th, twice on the 30th, three times just yesterday, and very likely this coming weekend. BTW... They sell wallets by the checkout .
12. I assume the message is "there is a technical fault with this channel, please try again later" Just unplug the box from the mains and plug back in. Should sort it out. If it's a signal problem you get a different message "no sat signal is being received"
13. Put the router in the grenier......height is your friend where wifi is concerned. Except if you have the metallic covered insulation between your floors! I too live in an old house with 50cm external walls, we use a livebox positioned on the ground floor, smack in the middle of the house. I can use my wifi at the edge of the garden. Maybe a newer box is the answer.
14. A couple of years ago I hired a 206Hdi to get me from Zurich to Milan.  Although it was the 3 door not the 5 I have to say I loved it.  Nippy, handled brilliantly, comfortable seats, VERY economical.  I'm not a Pug fan but I would have bought one if I was in the market for a new car. Last weekend I rented a car to go from London to Cheshire to see my mum - I was given a 5 door 207.  Probably the worst car I have ever driven.  Absolutely awful.  Had 6,000 miles on the clock but felt like 60,000 - horrible engine and road noise, rubbish suspension, rubbish handling. SO......if it's the 'oldstock' 206, buy it if you like it.  If it really is a newer 207, don't go near it!!!!
15. I'm a fan of the Garmin units.  I don't know about the cost of Tom Tom map updates and I'm sure others will advise but if you buy a Garmin you can sign up for lifetime updates for a one off fee http://www.garmin.com/garmin/cms/site/uk/lang/en/numaps The Garmin I use now is too old for these so I may have to invest in a new one........
16. As an add on for the OP taps do not connect directly to the copper pipe. A union connects to the copper pipe and your taps connect to the union. French unions will not fit a UK copper pipe but the threaded portion of a UK union, to which the tap connects, is the same thread size as in France.
17. Sorry to hear that Jon - hope it wasn't Lapeyre they are at mine right now putting in a custom window.......
18.
Are those the Doner cards issued by the Turkish Doner Industry? I always wondered where kebabs came from...
[:D][:D][:D]
19. On a modern LCD TV it's more than likely just a stuck relay, turning off then on again sends a new power signal to the relay, usually enough to click it over and get it working normally again.  Either that or a start up logic sequence fails, turning off and on starts the whole sequence off again. Believe it or not it's a usual fix for aircraft avionic boxes - power off and on again, then run a bite test.  Nine times out of ten there's no fault.
20. Thanks Clair but I don't have the text and tools bar when I write a post.......
21. http://www.accf.com/forum/images/upload/metalmclub/pixels_981.jpg No way to post a piccy.....or do a smiley.......
22. What is the name of the car club Polly?? I've a feeling I may be in touch for some advice soon - my 30 year old Jeep had languished in the garage since it's arrival in France last November - I need to sort out the power steering and correct a wandering issue before I go for the CT. I can't get the CofC from DRIRE as it does not have the 17 digit VIN code (too old for that) so looks like I have to go to Chrysler for a CofC, they may be unwilling as Jeep was not under their umbrella at the time the car was made!
23. Yeah it's good stuff. We painted a room which obviously had lime based paint on it and it peeled terribly. We were going to coat the Walls with pva then a neighbour told us to use the St Marc stuff which acts as a kind of stabilizing solution I guess. Paint went on a treat afterwards.
