  1. Heavens above! Just had to come in again. Monsoon fur sure. I am really sorry for trying to store water.
  2. Guilty as charged I reckon. As for the car dare not wash that might find loads of things wrong with it. Plus the reason I am logging on to this site so often......all the downpours. Just get started outside then washout. Wind is picking up now. (outside I mean)
  3. Turned it off and on again? That sometimes works
  4. Ahh I am assuming Test Match Special or The Morning Service ........perhaps
  5. Ahh lovely Dorset. Used to live in Stour Provost. Yes, I reckon I am to blame. The reservoir has now become a pond. Frogs and all sorts, even some fresh water turtles I think....still waiting for Chris to get back to me on that one.
  6. Getting a bit fed up now. Yes, I wanted the rain a month ago to fill my reservoir. Now it isn't funny anymore. Last year here in 22 it was hot, may June July, August brought the first bit of rain some real downpours. This year I make a nice reservoir for the expected drought.......and then look what happens.
  7. There is ''No Fear'' today. I am from the era where if I am being followed innocently by a police car I get a terrible sick to my stomach feeling.  Yes, we scrumpped apples and had the odd sweet or two but, if we were caught out we took the punishment. If pc Willcox just caught a glimpse of me ducking around a corner he would say That's all right trumpet, I'll see Mum and Dad later......then watch out. PC Willcox used to sit on the parade where I lived, and Kicking out time from all the pubs was no problem what so ever. A bit of banter and home. He new everybody and everybody new him.
  8. I think you are really brave. I always will hang on till I get a person, try to converse at first which will then usually lead to someone who can speak English. (sad init)

    French Vets

Again! Where are you people located. Here in 22 I am yet to find a cheap vet. I have been to 5 now. All charge around the same.
  10. Glad to see that this post has had hardly any interest. When posted in ''The Other House.'' It caused a civil war!
  11.   Dunbar and Lizamay. Both passed on now. Much loved.   Ray been with us since Oct 2006

Lucky for you Rob. ( but in an emergency........) LOL
  13. Recidivism.....Just had to look that up. a tendency to relapse into a previous condition or mode of behavior ; especially : relapse into criminal behavior wonderful.
  14. Thank you for that Punch. I am tuned in to give it a listen. The point about the initial question or debate was, which I perhaps did not make that clear was a local station based in area 22 Brittany.
  15. I was involved recently with a debate about starting up an English speaking local radio station. I really felt that such a venture was not necessary. We have access to all sorts these days. the Internet. Satellite, even mobile phones. And the even more serious issue we are guests here. Whilst I am opposed to any venture such as this I am interested in sensible (I know) argument. In a local newspaper Le Poher. They have an English page for news and information. Is this enough?  Would a station in English help with our integration?   C'mon Its Sunday and its raining, what else have you got to do.[8-|]

    French Vets

Hey that's not a bad price. Where are you located? My vet is in Pontivy. I have to take my boxer there often as he is allergic to everything. I am used to regular bills of around the 80 euro mark. I got medication last Friday for him. No consultation. 23 antibiotic tabs 10 cortisone tabs and a tube of anti itch cream 63 euro's. PS hope your little girl gets well soon
  17. Hello Ron, yes it seems so a NW thing. Belgium also in places. There really is no risk as you actually go into the service station to do this. If you pay cash and say you want 50 euro's worth but you can only get 45 Es in the tank then they of course give you the remainder 5 Es. I can see where the old clunk clicker machines might temp the attendant. I have never had any bogus transactions. You can of course use the CB method as well.
  18. As my French neighbour says. In France we have a saying. ''Why make anything easy when, you can make it hard.''
  19.   Cleavers:- Beggar's lice, Catchweed Bedstraw, Cleaverwort, Everlasting Friendship, Goose grass, Grip Grass, Scratch grass, Stick-a-back, Sticky Willie, Scarthgrass, Sticky-willy, White Hedge. Hedge Bindweed:- Scientific Names :Calystegia sepium syn. Convolvulus sepium Other names: Bearbind, Bellbine, Devil's Guts, Hedge-Bell, Hell Weed, Withybind Family: Convolvulaceae
  20. Hi, There isn't a lot to say really. If you intend to come for 6 months then that is like a long holiday. I mean are you intending to travel visit relations and friends. As for paying bills in the USA I guess you will have to do it through a bank draft or some other form of paying. Are you going to drive over here or use public transport. Where are you going to first and which airport will you fly into? Having a partner that speaks French is a good bonus, though.
  21. Hi Ron , The routes I have had to pay on are Caen A13....Rouen A28...A21 Lille....There are others. When I left Boulogne last year, The first station I came across I had to go in and pay first. When I mean pay first you have to go inside and say how much you want. Either leave your card, or the cash. I travel often along these routes I might add.  Mostly this is through the night. I learnt this lesson after standing at a windswept pump 3 in the morning and wondering why it wouldn't work. The do have notices which say after certain hours you have to pay before.
  22. Yes, cash OK, but that takes a person for the transaction. The supermarkets close around 7pm, they are the cheapest. Moterway fuel prices vary. The places where I have had to go inside and pay first are very common, even on the motorways.
  23. Sorry Ford.....just couldn't help myself.
