1. I know for a fact that mis diagnosis doesn't just happen in the UK.   In 2008 in France I found a breast lump and went to the dr, had a mammogram, ultrasound, biopsy and was given the all clear and told to go away as it was just hormonal! 9 weeks later after seeing 5 specialists with no improvement of symptoms I was given the diagnosis of an aggressive, stage 3 cancer. It wasn't me being embarrassed by going to the dr as I did so as soon as I found something untoward, I just suffered several incompetent specialists.
2. Can anyone enlighten me as to what this is referred to in France please? I'd never heard of it myself until yesterday but need to know what it is called in French and any links would be useful if there is an "association". Many thanks
3. From a recent thread regarding watching Iplayer etc in France, I thought I would ask if anyone knows how to register a Samsung Smart TV?   We can watch You Tube through it but when I've tried to access other sites (ie Facebook/Twitter) it says I have to register. So I've tried to register although I do find working the remote to give all the details is a bit fiddly but just when I thought I'd finished, it all stopped. I'm wondering if you need an actual keyboard to register (I have a cordless keyboard but have lost the receiver for it), or if it is impossible to register for these services as living in France. Many thanks
4. Thanks Clair I reinstalled and used as an add on and managed to watch the new US programme "The Following" with Kevin Bacon, and I thought it was very entertaining.   I watched this via Hulu so will try tomorrow to see what else is available. Thanks again from one happy punter [:)]
5. I think I just downloaded it, didn't recall being asked if I wanted to download as an extension to Firefox oh dear, not really very technically minded so what should I do, uninstall and try to reinstall?
6. Thanks Clair, this worked fine for me with I Player and ITV but, it didn't seem to work for American shows via any of the suggested like Hula, Netflix, ABS or Fox but I'm probably doing something wrong. Anyway, it still makes good viewing!   Thanks again to you and Mr Clair!
7.
It must have been a hard decision, but were brave and took it, and now you can look forward to the advantages. It should be all downhill from now on ..
Shouldn't that be "uphill" Norman, always thought up was good and down wasn't so good ?[:D]
8. I wonder if the Paris prices will be as good as UK ones?
9. I used the tip of a VERY sharp pencil, do I get a pat on the back ? lol
10. I'm pleased to report that re setting the livebox cured both problems so we are now A OK with connecting to the net. Now, can anyone help with a windows live mail problem ????    I keep getting a message saying "some errors occurred while processing the requested tasks, review the list of errors ---- send 2 messages via gmail (default) FAILED - LAN" Do I have to reset anything? Many thanks
11. Thanks for your  help Quillan I will try tomorrow in daylight. BTW how do you find a MAC address on a French computer, any ideas?   I think I might need to add the 2nd PC's mac number in the configuration page, would this also help?
12. Our internet and internet telephone went down a week ago, when we managed to contact Orange/France Telecom we were told "Orange were working on the line and it was a big problem"! Today we've got it back but not without problems. Our 2nd computer doesn't connect via WiFi when it worked well before, we've tried the pairing button but it didn't resolve the problems. Our printer/scanner also doesn't seem to connect via Wifi now When I go into the Livebox admin page it tells me that wifi is enabled and I've taken off security (we are in the middle of nowhere), it shows the livebox in the SSID, mode = b/g and we're currently on channel 6.   Under the paired devices it only shows my PC not the one that doesn't connect via Wifi does anyone know if this is what the problem is? When I tried to set up Wifi on the printer it detected the Livebox and an Orange network, both of these also show in the menu bar bottom right hand corner (where the WiFi bars show) but they both have a yellow exclamation mark against them, despite the signals being "excellent". I'm baffled so any help appreciated.
13. Loads of snow here today, but forecast was only for rain!    We've got a good 4 inches settled and now the fog is moving in.   Looks like tomorrow on the roads will be bad.
14. Loads of sloes around here, so have brews of gin and vodka going. Not ready yet so will let you know how the brews turn out.
15. A bit off topic I know, but just wanted to say that at our daughter's lycee, the food is disgusting and she rarely eats more than a piece of bread and cheese, comes home starving and it's not cheap either.  I wouldn't mind paying if it was something that was reasonable to eat but it isn't.   Coming home for lunch is out of the picture so we have no choice but to pay up and shut up! I don't consider that what is offered is healthy, rarely fruit or veg other than epinards and would rather send her in with a packed lunch when I know what goes into it.   A bit of bread and cheese is hardly substantial. Having discussed this with a number of other parents, both French and English everyone says the same so it's not just a question of being a fussy English student.
16. It sounds like it could be a good idea for people, who for whatever reason, are unable to attend in person. For me personally, I want as little fuss as possible, as cheap as possible and think that cremation, for me, is the right option. I watched "This Morning" recently where they had a selection of very impressive coffins, from cardboard, wicker, pine to elaborate buses, classic cars and more.   I can't think why on earth anyone would want to spend so much money on something that is going to be burnt or rot.    I didn't like the idea of the egg shaped coffin as the thought of how one's loved one gets positioned inside it,  in a  foetal position doesn't bear thinking about.
17. We have this system and from what I understand the pump sucks in the air to heat the water which then runs into a system of pipes and then heats the water which warms our underfloor heating. Each room is marked on the network of pipes on the wall with taps which turn the valve pressure from 0 - 5, 5 being to warm the most.   We can also control the temperature by changing the main thermostatic which goes up to a maximum of 30 deg. As we have a wood burner in our main room we have turned off all the valves to 0 just for the lounge and consequently you can feel the floor isn't warm as it is in other areas. However in the bedrooms we would like them to be warmer so have tried turning the valves to 5 but for some reason the taps which control the valves seem to be stuck at around 3-4 pressure, almost as if the tread on the tap has busted. Are there any experts out there who know about this type of heating to let me know if the temperature of the floors should be consistent, as in the main bedroom it feels much cooler.
18. Sleep???   What's that could someone remind me please [8-|]
19. I seem to recall on one of the forums (can't remember which one) that there was a link to the website showing what drugs are reimbursed and non reimbursed. Can anyone help with a link please?
20. Sounds like you've grabbed a bargain then [:D]
21. At that price are you sure they are EU standard conformity, ie the correct size?   Eg EU Standard ECE R27.
22. We've not yet had our bill through, should I chase them up or are they late in sending out the demands?
23. In one of her classes at Lycee - Philosophy maybe ?? - my daughter was told that France Telecom/Orange have the highest number of suicides for any organisation in France. Having phoned them a couple of times with problems, on my behalf, she can see why!
24. OK so I am very confused.   I signed up last week to try and play last Friday but was getting an error message so gave up. Anyway I've had the confirmation emails including the one that tells me I will receive a pin number by post (I thought this was to claim any winnings gained???). Over the weekend I clicked for my numbers for tomorrow euromillions and again was getting a message which I didn't quite understand but assumed it said I couldn't yet play. Today I note that 5 euros has been taken from our bank account so does this mean my numbers were accepted?   The only thing is that I did two lines, which should have amounted to 4 euros so not sure why 5 was taken.   I did click only for 1 week on Tuesday's game so hopefully if all I've lost is 5 euros it isn't a great loss. Think I won't take any chances and go and play the old fashioned way for tomorrow, just in case. Does anyone else play online with FDJ?   If so could they be kind enough to explain how it all works.
25. Thanks for your clear explanation Quillan, I'll check that out as you suggest.
