ill ask my work colleague, he built an extension in wood and didnt use oak or chestnut for expansion and contracting reasons, he did however use a hardwood  (but only for the structure and frame....and is permantly exposed) that has no expansion problems his extension has been stood for at least 5 years and the wood surrounds  aluminium doors. no movement and lokks as good as new cant remeber what woodhe used ill try and remember to ask him tomorrow ..

you will probably have to have a market traders licence and also pay for your pitch however if you dont need the income why bother, the cost of set up and your social charges may well be more than your takings

probably difficult to explain but.....rather than having the ventilation leading off to the roof from the upper most toilet, is it as effective and acceptable, to have the ventilation shaft exterior of the building, starting at a lower point than the upper toilet, but going up higher than the upper toilet. thus the ventilation is a branch off from the main waster pipe.Also how many waste ventilation shafts are necessary. so if anyone understands what i am trying to say and knows can they  please advise me

i have to agree with pool guy, how much preparation work needs to be done, what machinary needs to be hired or provided, and how many days work, for how many people. then you add on social charges for the company.  it all mounts up

i took some advice from a french artisan that installs fosse septics today and just to clarify. yes the etude or study is not obligatoire however in two years time therethere will be a mise au norme obligatoire this means that ifa fosse is installed now without the etude in two years time the installation may not be accepted as complying with the regulations and could be considered to be outside the norms and thus redundant. therefore the etude would be considered wise over a long term period as any fosse installed to the requirements of the etude will remain within those regulations. As far as buying the materials the artisan i spoke to normally gets his materal from "Laine Materieux" there is one based in Antrain but i do not know if this supplier has other branches  ive tried the site linked from the pages jauneswebsite but it is under construction

brico marche sell them last time i was there they  were about 500 euros however that is probably the least expensive part of the installation you will need an etude this is a survey of the land and plans for the installation costs about 1500 euros i think then you will need someone to install the fosse and the filter and run off system. the i recently worked next to a company installing a fosse system for a gite and the  cost was about 5000 sterling plus the etude. Are you sure you want to buy a fosse without theetude and relevant permisssions required ?

you can get reflective brick about 5 -10 cms thick and heat resistant cement. brick refractaire and ciment refractaire. depending on your burner they will recommend the distance of space needed behind and to the sides of the sides of the burner this will maybe between 10 -20cms. worth checking before you do your reflective brick

i was self employed as a "travailleur independant", (different statues have differnt regulations) and my accountant told me i was not obligated to pay for my retrait , so i didnt for three years. i never paid. when i finished my activity it was questioned why i had never paid i replyed that as a travailleur independant my accountant had told me i did not have to. the chambre de commerce found this unusual and stated i may have to pay back dated monies. six months later nothing has come of this. i did not pay but i have no retirement fund or pension. ps this was not a good accountant.  to receive full pension benefits you need to have paid into the scheme for 40 years therefore anyone over say 35 years old will not receive a full pension untill they have worked and paid till the age of 75. and yes i believe that your pension is calculated  on your earnings as with all other social charges anyone paying onto a pension fund for less than 40 years should make sure of the benefits received at retirement age. i dont know how this affeects state pension or whether you are eligeable.  if you have been in france for more than five years you are not eligeable to take out a private pension in the uk, i dont know how private pensions work in france, but if you have an address and an income in the uk it would be wise to start a private pension and continue to pay once in france, i have considered returning to the uk and taking a short term job to start a private pension that i can continue, because if not i can look forward to poverty in old age. either that or get rich before i am old. its never easy is it?

yep im an ex ferry staff, and yes its expensive, but you have a happy dog that can travel with you. i spent many years not beeing able to travel with my loyal furry friends and was more than happy to pay the price when the scheme was introduced.  if you ask at the pursers office when on the ferry, they will find  someone to accompany you to the car deck to check on your pet, if they become awkward become distaught it always works.  the car deck crew do patrol the car decks you can again ask the pursers office to have your pet checked if you think the animal is unnerved by the crossing.  if you dont get any joy from the purser ask to speak to the captain that will usually scare a pompous officer into beeing a little bit more human. like you say you have paid for the animal, make them give you the service you want
