Hi all, I need, in somthing of a hurry a Gite with ideally six bedrooms, no more than 20 km from La Rochelle (ideally Ile de Rey) and if possible within walking distance to the sea; although that last bit is negotiable. Reason: the owner of the place we should be renting has had a medical emergeny and can no longer rent to us. Here's the kicker, need it for 18 September for two weeks? Any help or tips on emergency shelter gratefully recieved! If you have anything ner these requirements, please PM me. Many thanks Duplicated thread. 4. Hi I have an urgent appeal for my cat! Im moving back to the UK and hace been let down at the last minute..... Being completely disorganised I only got his rabies jab in June, so Im looking for someone to take him for either five months or for life the choice is yours. I will be more then willing to pay for his boarding and any vet fees if someone can look after him for the five months. Hes almost three years old, castrated, tatooed and tagged, loving, well behaved, road trained but only drinks out of a pint glass and prefers gardens. Im leaving from Montpellier in two days so it really is urgent and really will deliver to anyone within an hour of the autoroutes going north from the south, if you see what I mean. Given the urgency if you are interested, please PM me with a phone number to discuss detail. Many thanks CLV
  5. The confusion is easy to clear up, if slightly embarrasing.... Im moving back to the UK, so last week was the first run with the motor and the trailer, I then picked up a van to come back for the big stuff. Anyhoo, got three hours up the road and thought to that the car was handling very well, then realised that I forgot to hitch up the trailer before I left...b*****r CLV
  6. Thank you for all the replies so far, i think ill be OK. It a UK short wheelbased transit and the trailer is 500kg gross with a max payload of 300kg, so little van and trailer. Ive got a spare plate with the vans rego on it to hopefully put on the trailer..... My license is standard UK, so I have the C1E and D1E categories for towing. Hope that makes more sense CLV
  7. Hi all,   I was hoping for a little info on trailers. Basically I have a french trailer that I would like to take back to the UK. Unfortunatly I only have a Uk registered van to get it there. If I change the french plate on the french trailer to the UK registered van does that make it legal? Or am I asking for trouble?? The van is insured to pull trailers etc.   Cheers CLV
  8. Hi, Just a quick question on the banks of france, and their possible implosion..... Given that europe is finally starting to look slightly unhealthy, can anyone either tell me or point me towards a website that explains what happens when a bank goes bankrupt? Might sound paranoid, but Im in the process of selling a house, so will soon have a fair amount of cash floating about..... Cheers all
  9. Hi all, Just poosting to pick the brains of anyone who has experience of building in wood. I intend to build a large extension on the back of my house, due to practical and personal reasons I would like to build in wood, have spoken to several archi's about this and have had a mixed response. One bought up the point that due to the climate, I live in Herault, of extreme summer temperatures and fairly cold winters a wooden structure isnt the best plan as the wood expands and contract too much causing too much movement and cracking etc, is this the case and would it therefore be advisable to do it in Blocks? He also bought up the point that although its fantastic insulation in winter wood doesnt have the same advantages in summer against the heat, does any one have this experience? Hope someone can help a little....
