  4. elsier wrote, In my experience, the chemicals you buy at the hypermarchées and bricos really aren't up to much. Try getting some pH- from you nearest pool supplies shop. It might seem more expensive but it will probably work far more efficiently. Earlier in the summer I used two 1kg tubs of pH+ from our local brico and they did nothing. Off I went to the local Everblue dealer and got some good stuff and just over half a kilo did the trick !   It`s impossible to say weather another 1/2 kilo from your local brico would have had the same effect.
  5. If you haven't heard, at least 6 bombs have gone off in central London this morning, on the tube and buses. Please check the news for the latest information Can I just remind people that this is the first post on this thread. Its about an attack in London were many people died and many hundreds of people were injured. Miki, Lavie, Dick could you not give this thread back its dignity and conduct your petty squabbles somewhere else. regards colin
  6. The defence of speedferries prices is all very well, and the paying of extra money on principle is very noble, but you can`t get away from the fact that in the June issue of French property news Curt stavis gives an interview in which he states that fares start at £19 one way and that the highest possible fare is £49(£98 return). regards colin

In the the U.K it would be far safer to look right look left look right again before proceeding if it is safe to do so. regards colin
  12. Hi Ken Ken I find it strange that your posts asks people to support Speedferries when on the travel page of your the web site the only cross channel ferry company that you do not link to is Speedferries.

  14. Although this card is supposed to self-active it doesn`t. Phone sky from mobile and they will talk you through getting the info they need. They ask me why I was phoning from mobile, I told them I was on my boat and if I had a land line available I would not be struggling with the signal on my  mobile. They were happy with that, you will need to comfirm your uk address. It then took 12 hous to activate regards colin
  15. We too are on tempo for our maison secondaire and tried to get EDF to reflect our lack of use in their estimated bi-monthly bills but to no avail. We were told that everything would sort its self in in the second year as their estimates were based on historic data (last years actual useage). This did not happen and they still charge us 100 euros every two months then give most of it back once every six months when they read the meter. regards colin

  19. Quote: The paper bit has you offences on and has to be carried with you even in the UK as well as the vredit card bit. My credit card bit has the EU flag on it. I1 & Iceni In the UK unlike France you are not required to carry any part of your licence with you but if stopped by police you may be required to produce your licence at the police station within seven days. Quillan is correct penalties are recorded on the paper part. regards colin

  21. push start jumper leads or tow start still no need for a charger                     or park it on a hill Can` t push/tow start automatic. Simple battery charger will cost less than good set of jump leads Nearest hill of any size 5k away Better still buy a power station and you can start your car anywhere. Regards colin
  22. Will I have tried all the sites you mention in your message and they all seem infinitely faster than this one.(I am using broardband 750) I might have not understood your post but I do not see what you are saying. Regards Colin
  23. "Unless of course you wish to say that all UK cards were banned inside as well and that would be a tough one to believe ! Still if it was the only one, what are the chances of the original chap  ending up there among thousands of other garages in France ?  " Yes Miki that is exactly what I am saying, very clearly stated in a hand written note on every pump and at kiosk that british credit cards could not be accepted. It may be the only petrol station in the whole of France where this so but if you happen to need petrol at this station and you only have british credit cards then don't you agree that you could be in trouble without some cash. Ron I did read your post correctly and only posted because I thought that my experience might help some else Regards Colin
