  1. TU My daughter is in 5eme, she went in to French school last September and had to redouble 6eme, (for those that don't understand this, she should now be in 4eme) So far this year her overall moyenne is 16.25.  At the end of 6eme it was 14.25, so already gone up by 2.  She is taking Latin and Physics this year, having not studied either before and I have been told she obtained the highest mark in the class. Son is in the correct class for his age, much to his sisters disgust.  In the UK he was 2 classes behind her, now its just 1.  He was in CM2 last year and I think he spent most of the year just listening.  He never had homework and seemed bored with school.  Out of all of my children he has been the slowest to pick up the French language.  But now he is in 6eme he is very motivated.  He had a couple of low marks for some of his controles, but his overall moyenne is 13.5. They have both approached school in France in a positive way, they are both very happy and I'm very proud of them both. Dotty

    IQ test

Oh great Dick, that makes me feel so much better, having got the lowest score and all.  Oh apart from Katies 2.
  3. Something is definately going on with the weather.  I live in Deux Sevres and its been very mild here for the past 3-4 days, I haven't even had the need to light the fires.  We have also been inundated with flies, 2 days ago I swatted 80 flies that had come into the house.  Also, our daffodils are about half way through. What does this mean??????????/
  4. Hello The reason I'm posting this is to hopefully reasure our new, younger forum members.  I have children in 5eme and 6eme, I have had parents evening meetings for them this week and they have both received very good averages (moyennes) in all of their subjects.  I have been told they both participate well in class and have the potential to obtain very good grades for the rest of this year.  They have been attending French school since Sept 2005 and I'm very proud of them.  I just hope this will give courage to other children taking the plunge and starting school in France sometime soon. Looks like I'm the thicky, 119.
  6. I wouldn't own up to that one Twinkle, the red light that is. The inside of my house is white, does that count?
  7. Hello I'm really worried now cos I picked orange.  That stuff about kinky sex is playing on my mind now. Eeek
  8. Hello Ali. Glad you're happy and sorted, its lovely to see you.
  9. Thanks forthe info TU.  Its strange how the college my older two go to have never asked to see jab certificates or asked if they have had BCG jabs. Its tricky to know whether to go ahead and get it done anyway.  I had a bad reaction to mine as a teenager.
  10. Katie, calm down, what's going on.  Please pm me.
  11. You are a bit tetchy this evening Ms Katie.
  12. Dick I have a DD set up with our electricity supplier. Dotty
  13. Non of my kids have had it.  We moved here in July 2005, the kids were then 12, 10 and 6.  We weren't asked for any vaccinaction details.  When we finally enroled with the local doctor, he asked me about the childrens immunisations.  I gave him the details and asked if they could have the BCG, the one would have been due in the UK I think, but he told me it isn't necessary in France anymore and the view on this jab had changed. Hope this helps, we live in the Deux Sevres.
  14. I have pm'd several members as the last post on this thread was made by me as far as I could see.  No one seems to want to answer my questions.  Should I just not bother on here any more, or have I lost the plot.  I'm a big girl, ok not that big, but I can take it on the chin. Ta Dotty.
  15. Verviale, now you've gone and mentioned it, tut tut.[:D]
  16. Thanks for the info.  I don't consider myself being well off, but compared to folk living on the streets, then yes I suppose I am. But compared to my French neighbours I'm not.  What I'm trying to say is I haven't moved here having made loads of cash in the UK, bought my house for cash and decided to play at living in France, though if folk have done that then good luck to them.  I have to budget very hard each month and that is something I've chosen to do.  For me and my family, living here is, at the moment giving us a 'cleaner' way of life.  For an example, we don't have a freezer so all our food is fresh, I have space to grow my own veg and fruit and my kids are now able to converse confidantly in two languages. I'm not saying life is perfect, you know my personal circumstances, but for the moment like some others on here I'm happy and have no intentions of returning to the UK.
  17. Yes, what is a HLM? TU, I don't own my house outright as I have a mortgage, not that it should make any difference. [:D]
