  1. Not peeling in all that humidity??
  2. Don't require one, or don't need one? Now, there's the rub..
  3. May be worth checking with Normie exactly what he understands by the term 'jointing'. He may assume Wooly that this practice takes place over a barrel....
  4. My screen is already cracked. Wouldn't want to risk a more serious malfunction....
  5. Cripes! LeavIng am tomorrow from the south west to Calais. Had thought things were looking up this week regarding fuel, fingers crossed won't come across rolling roadblocks. Methinks a flask and duvet may be in order...
  6. I think you've hit the nail on the head -where are the jobs going to come from? And that applies to the UK and many other countries too. I know I haven't got the answer...
  7. Lots of us still refer to it as the Poll Tax even though it's been the Council Tax for years
  8. I reckon he's looking for a bigger barrel with a reinforced bottom...
  9. Then for our sakes, long may it continue. I've been chuckling over your posts for the last couple of days. Just a thought, when do you and 'Normie' commence your honeymoon?....
  10. I must say Wooly, you are on tremendous form these days!
  11. I am not sure why we shouldn't compare and contrast countries/political systems/beliefs. Is it negative to do so? Could it be positive? Could it lead to greater insight and understanding of all our great nations?
  12. Admittedly I've been preoccupied with nuts this afternoon (of the walnut variety of course) but unless I've missed something, I don't find gluestick's postings racist.....
  13. Ah, now there's the rub. One's impression is very different from another's isn't it? Rather like one's opinion is very different from another's? Recent reporting (and not) of certain footballer's off the pitch activities would maybe give a different impression of the freedom of the press?
  14. Well I for one am hugely enjoying this Thread/debate. Betty, you are a feisty lady, more power to your elbow and, wooly, you are absolutely right. No sensible debate has ever been allowed to happen in the UK, more's the pity. I'm glued to the forum today - torn between it and the sunshine!
  15. Of course! Hadn't thought of that one! Does any one else have any experience of petrol supply shortages either on autoroutes from Calais to Limoges or locally in dept 24? Many thanks
  16. fantastic thank you! exactly what we are looking for.
  17. Does anyone know please if it is possible to get brass/antique gold etc effect electric socket plates in France? I may well have used the wrong terminology, but I mean the socket plates on the wall which you plug your various electric devices into. We have the white/cream plastic ones everywhere else but i was hoping to find something in a colour which would blend in with the stone walls/pointing more sympathetically. Many thanks
  18. Thank you! And to all those who contributed to this thread with good advice.
  19. My two trees are right by the house, so co-existing is not an option - given my experience and that of my dog's anyhow. The good news is though, that I am on the mend. Doc prescribed the same anti-histamines that the pharmacy had and after two full weeks of really horrible itchy all over rash, it is finally on the way out. I still have lumps all over and some itchy patches, but am no longer waking in the night and having to put ice cubes in tea towels before wrapping them round my arms and neck (attractive though that particular look certainly was). I think the heavy rain has helped to settle down the dusty grass/nest detritus so I've been grateful for that. Anyhow, come the summer/autumn months the two offending trees will unfortutunately be felled, but I can't see a practical, long term solution other than felling.
  20. Thanks for the advice Sue and Quillan. I would be interested to know what you Doctor actually said Quillan? and thank you for asking when you were there, by the way. Re removing the nests Sue, it does seem that now really is not the time to do it because of the danger of spreading what is left in the nests (hairs/excrement principally). Had I known how dangerous these processionaires were back in the autumn when I noticed the first nest I would have had them removed then. I did have someone come and look at them a couple of days ago but we agreed that the position of the trees/height of the nests made it impossible to remove them safely now. I am taking cetirizine 10mg and using Phenergan creme on advice of the local pharmacist.
