1. please post if you find the dates .. do look at the one at Puy though, it's well worth a visit if you're in the area, prob. the same cars as at bressuire the month before, I'll post some pics if I can dig any out.   thanks   John
2. the one at puy notre dame will be on at the end of july   http://www.ville-lepuynotredame.fr/tourisme.htm
3.
iiiiiinteresting..... I have a large bulky item to bring down from Scotland and have been looking at van (swb transit sized) rental. In Aberdeen, I could hire a van from europcar or hertz for a week, do the run and return it for about £200-£250 or so. As I am in France now, this would mean flying to uk, hiring the van, doing the job, then flying back again. The obvious solution would be to hire the van here in France for the journey but I have found the cost to be silly. The basic rental costs are similar, but French rental companies all seem to charge  mileage surcharge. A weeks rental only includes a certain amount of kilometers, and exceeding this incurs a 20cents per kilometer surcharge, which on the trip to uk and back, would put the rental cost up hugely. UK rental firms all state unlimited mileage, although I think there is a small surcharge for taking the van outside the uk with some places. I will look into SuperU and see what they say about the costs.
are you sure that is the price? I've done this twice, 2 different firms (kendalls camberley, and affordable rentals) and each came to the £500 mark all in
4. thanks for your reply, one last question  .. what's an insert in this context?
5. hope this is not a hi-jack .. but would this work ok for a chimney without a log-burner, just a normal fire ? (to stop smoke seeping through the joints we can't get at) thanks
6. We have now pretty much settled on Dover - Calais (house is just South of the Loire) .. On cost grounds mainly  as well as the killer (6+ hour)  crossing from le Havre to Portsmouth is just not worth the extra 2 hours drive up to calais
7. I'm with bigjim too .. why orange wants to re-write windows is beyond me .. it makes your pc useless anywhere else.
8. does anyone know of a largish Christmas Market in the Thouars / Bressuire type area? is there a website with this info? thanks
9. with such  great taste in music, Miki, you don't need tv ...
10. on the 23rd Dec at 11:25, currently at £109.99 on their site .. make me an offer! I have checked about transferring the ticket, and Ryanair say this on their site, so I don't think that it is a problem: Can I change a name on a booking? < BACK Yes, however name changes can only be made in our Reservation centre subject to call centre opening hours, click here. Names of passengers may be changed, up to 4 hrs, prior to the scheduled departure time (subject to availability & call centre opening hours). Any name change made to a flight reservation must be for that individual passenger's complete flight itinerary.   however, if we can't achieve the transfer satisfactorily, all money will be refunded!
11. did you use their wireless adapter, or one that you already had in your PC? .. nothing on earth would persuade my laptop to connect wirelessly with the live box using its built in wifi capability .. no problem at all with the cable connection, after I'd removed all traces of their software.
12. yes, mine works fine without their s/w .. if you just get the livebox running and connect the ethernet cable, all should be well - the mistake is to install ANY of their s/w! . I couldn't get it working with the wireless adapter in my laptop though .. I have a horrible suspicion that you need to put their (supplied) adapter in .. which kind of destroys the point.
13. The main thing that I object to with the orange livebox setup is the software ... not only does it overwrite email / web browser etc, but also the wireless network setup, rendering your laptop pretty useless when taken back to a 'standard' wireless setup. I never got mine working wirelessly from my livebox .. I have managed to remove most of the software, and just connect through the ethernet port. I has, however, completely destroyed outlook express, which i cannot get back. I would say the software is junk ...
14. you say that he is selling his land .. bit obvious, but couldn't you buy it? .. obviously you'd need a price before he realised that it was you that was buying it ...
15. I moved (am moving) from CA Britline to my local branch of CA and I have to do it all myself .. they don't recognise each other as the same bank!
16. The router will be a modem as well (make sure that it is) .. the modem will connect to the adsl line, and the router will 'route' it, either wirelessly, or by wire (ethernet cable ) or both. Steer clear of things like the 'livebox' which try to take over your life .. netgear are current favourites. you will need phone filters for each phone.
17. Has anyone any space in the next few weeks to transport a desk (in 3 pieces) to 79150 (Argenton Chateau) from Surrey in return for a contribution towards travel costs?   thanks
18. have you tried connecting with an ethernet cable direct .. take the wi-fi bit out of the equation?
19. thanks for the replies, sorry not to have acknowledged earlier ron .. yes , I have definately typed it in correctly, but to no avail .. back in the UK now, but I'll tackle it again when I get back
20. no matter what i do i can't connect wireless to this (new) orange livebox .. hard wired ethernet is straight in. if i go through the recommended setup, i can't get further than the livebox name and the WEP code .. I have entered them every which way, but it keeps saying that they're wrong ... If i try to connect normally to the secured wifi network, i would expect it to ask me for the wep code, but it comes back saying that the network has 'gone out of range' or something equally fatuous anyone else had this prob? thanks
21. Is it me, or has the forum got almost unusably slow over the last week or so? It can take 30 seconds or more to navigate through topics. (btw, this is not the only site I use, evrything else here is fine!)
22. when you have to get down to this level of  detail with *friends* it's maybe an idea to take best and worst cases .. ie if everything was allowable how much difference would it make, and if nothing was allowable, see what actual money was involved, then work out if it was/is worth falling out over?
