    Top up insurance

Yeah but the 1000€ was to put right a mis-diagnosis made in England. At least in France you get good treatment for your money or have we just been very very lucky with our dentist, doctor, etc. Suey

Make sure the mutuelle covers dentist and opticians as we have paid out about 1000 euros for dentistry (essential - non cosmetic) in the last two years and only got the CPAM money back and this was from a well know english mutuelle! Suey
  3. We did the acrylic sheet version over a large window back in the 80's when we were young marrieds and it worked really well, I can remember we used some type of clips to hold the sheet in place and then just unclipped it in the warmer weather. Suey
  4. Sorry my mistake, did not mean to put refreeze!  Monday syndrome - did not engage brain before typing!!  Right so I will freeze this pate.  Thanks Sweet.  Suey
  5. Bought some pate on Saturday - pre-packed as we had friends visiting.  It did not get opened.  Is it possible to freeze it? Many thanks in advance for any help given. Suey Bonne Annee et Bonne Sante
  6. Our friend has downloaded AVAST onto our computer and it seems very good and its free. Suey
  7. So pleased to hear that your other half has received such good treatment - best wishes for the improvement to continue. Bonne Annee et bonne sante Suey
  8. Give them their due, the french are pretty good at reducing the cost of fuel. So there is usually a reason for a hike in price. Bon weekend Suey
  9. Went to the Intermarche at Auxi le Chateau (Pas de Calais) this morning  and the price of fuel has risen by 10 cents from 91 cents per litre for diesel to 101 per litre.  What's the reason - does anyone know? Suey
  10. But I don't like to say this too loudly but the you know what is up to 1.09€ Suey
  11. I agree with Bugsy, my dear mum always used to say you needed a good man to sweat it out of you! Suey
  12. Best wishes for your little one's speedy recovery.  Happy, healthier, New Year. Suey
  13. As it is the year of the letter D - how about Duffy, Dondie, (I like Dylan too as already suggested) or Duke. It is difficult, we have a rescue dog picked up in Swansea - of course he had to be Taffy (No offence meant to any Welsh contributors). Suey
  14. Oh you do have our sympathy.  We have been through this twice but on each occasion we were lucky enough to have already acquired a younger dog, so we had a reason to get up and go out for walks.  But I know just from the overlap days when we come home from a weekend visit to the UK and the dogs are at the kennels, no waggy tail and no licks and particularly with our Ridgeback, no nose in the groin - a common greeting from a Ridgeback apparently!!  Thinking of you.  Its early days but it is good to think about getting another. 15. I think, AMS, you should accept what's been said. Because if there is one person that we know we can always get help, assistance, humour and downright good advice from it is Sunday Driver. Suey H

    Additional Dog

It was the face of the young receptionist in Clermont Ferrand who said "You 'ave three small dogs?" to which we replied "Non", then proceeded to bring our three in. "Ah, you 'ave three big dogs"!!! Then just charged us for one!! Bargain. Also, the night concierge at IBIS Millau when we emerged from the lift at 3 am last March. Our Ridgeback was on water tablets and desperate, he rushed to open the door and stood back as we dashed through. I didn't like to tell him that she would have licked him to death! Suey

    Additional Dog

We are now on our fifth dog. When our first female was ten we got a puppy female and that extended the life of our old girl to 14. Then when the next one reached 10 we got a rescue dog and did the tester walkies at the rescue kennels. They got on well after a fashion. Dear Rosie lived for a further four years. Our poor Taff was four then and started getting very depressed on his own and the vet suggested that we either get a puppy or he would have to put Taff on anti depressants. We were then offered a Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy, last in the litter. She and Taff got on great but I think she was a bit boisterous for him and he was delighted when our son asked us to look after his Border Collie for a few months when he changed jobs. This took the pressure off Taff and the RR had a dog of her own age to play with. That was three years ago and we still have Curtis, the Border Collie!! So Della, the RR, is a happy bunny. Taff is also happy because he is left to his own devices and can join in the fun when he wants to. So a mixture of males and females does work sometimes. Incidentally the Rescue Centre recommended that we get a male when we wanted a companion for our female. Just give the existing dog a lot of extra cuddles and love. But I do have to say that three dogs is one too many. It can cause problems with hotels etc when we travel but IBIS hotels are great and don't even raise an eyebrow when we troupe through the foyer! 18. Could not believe it when John McCrirrick (The morning Line) stated that ST should not have fallen off of Kauto Star, yeah sometimes if horses land right it is possible but not on this occasion,  J Mc talks out of his backside on occasions.  John Francome said that even superglue would not have worked! 19. You're not a eurotunnel employee, are you Baz??  Had thought about rebooking but don't have £200+ to spare.  Suppose could book on Norfolk lines or P&O for £64 or £79 respectively but as I had two last tickets to use by 8th January on Frequent Traveller, thought I'd use those. Suey
  20. We were at Newbury - Great racing weekend.  (makes going to the UK worthwhile). Our bug bear was Tony McCoy, the only one of his rides that he (in the Telegraph) stated had a chance was Alberta's Run.  He then went on to win on his four other rides and NOT Alberta's run!! Poor Sam Thomas - do feel sorry for him. Suey
  21. I booked on the 23rd October to travel from Calais to Folkestone on the 23rd December and return to France on 28th December.  I had wanted to travel to France on the 27th but reservations were stating that all trains were fully booked. I then discovered that a friend booked for the 27th some weeks later than us.  This was the first thing that annoyed me because it meant paying for an extra day for our dogs in the kennels!!  I have just telephoned eurotunnel reservations asking to change our bookings by an hour on the 23rd and the same on the 28th only to be told that there is nothing available on the 23rd until 17:00 and nothing at all on the 28th.  Yet if I was travelling as a none frequent traveller there are plenty of places.  This is indeed very frustrating, as we appear to be treated as economy class travellers.  They are quite happy to accept our money upfront but what benefits do we get.  NONE!  Have just sent a rant to their customer services.  Am awaiting reply!!
