1.
Is Ray really that old...? He looks like a cadaver! Got no younger snaps? Dick Smith has really gone down the tubes judging by the difference between his old and new image... Only joking boys!
**Is Ray really that old...?** LOL! Alas, the the answer is - Yes, he really is, Ty! Tell you what though, as the saying goes, it beats the hell out of the alternative. If I go out these days I either need my wheelchair or electric scooter . . . . and, you know what . . . my life is fabulous! I love every moment of it. We have great friends in the US, UK, here in France and Germany. Since I can no longer fly, they come to see us and we love it. We are very lucky people.

No fear of that, Pinkfluff. The worst thing you can do to 'baiters' is to ignore them. I'm very good at that. Also, Mark Twain said words to the effect - 'Never interrupt a person who is making a fool of themself'
 3.
I hope you can see where my confusion came from - I accept that the majority of Iraqi people will be happy that Saddam is gone, but they didn't vote to get rid of the tyrant (who happened to be of t...
**What does the ignore button do Ray, I have never tried that.** It is in your Control Panel.

Let me put what I said another way. The fact that so many Iraqis overcame their fears in order to participate in a free election for people to represent them is evidence in my mind. THEY chose the candidates and THEY voted for their choice. They had never been able to do that before. That is what democracy and Freedom is all about. The freedom to choose and THEY chose to do it. BTW - I have just added some names to the 'Ignore' feature of the forum. Good tool. Obviously you aren't one of them. You know the respect and admiration I have for you.

I know that there are lots of similar sites for other countries now, but i'm fairly sure the france one was the first.** I wouldn't be a bit surprised, and as I said before, it is an insulting, disgusting and ignorant website. There is no justification for it whatsoever.
 6.
Hang on, Ray - what happened to the First Amendment?
**Hang on, Ray - what happened to the First Amendment?** As far as I know, you aren't covered under it. I am and choose to discuss or not discuss anything I want. A forum is a place where one can express opinions, but nowhere is it mandatory to explain it to anyone. If either of us doesn't like the others opinion, then so be it. This is my opinion and I'm through.

France isn't exactly run by tyranical monsters who murder their own people on a whim and dominate the nations with fear and radical religons. You don't think they are a threat to you . . . . we do. Eight and a half million Iraqi voters agreed with us. No more discussion on this, please.

Don't pay attention to any detractors. As you can see we all went through the anticipation that you are. Keep the dream!! In our case it took us seven years after we fell in love with Bretagne before we retired here. We have been here for over 3-1/2 years now and love it even more. We are a helpful bunch, too. Feel free to ask.
 11.
There is an article called 'Rosbifs and Frogs' about those who choose to live in each others countries. It is when some start telling the French how to run their lives is when the resentment starts.

Hatred and ridicule is not an exclusive product of the US. This thread and forum are at times examples of this. I'm sure that you will find it in most forums anywhere and in any language. Judging a nation by people such as these is ignorant in itself. **Particularly since about 90% of Americans never acquire a passport and never experience the rest of the world.** I have always been curious why Americans who don't travel abroad are criticized. America has two oceans, the Caribean, the Gulf of Mexico, The Rocky Mountains, vast deserts, the great plains and as many cultures as Europe. It is 1000 miles North to South and 3000 miles wide. Some of us are more curious about foriegn lands and cultures but that doesn't mean we are in any way superior nor those who don't are somehow inferior. For instance, I couldn't care less about Asia or Australia, but so what? The website is disgusting.

Perhaps the one to watch to cheer yourself up [Tongue] is "Housetrapped in the Sun" on Channel 4 [Big Grin] started last night after listening to the first Brit whinger moaning that all the English had moved in [Crazy] and not be able to sell her house for 200% profit, I turned off [Big Grin] The programme claims "Right now foreign property is as much as a third overvalued [Blink] , a particularly tough proposition for sellers. [Confused] Andrew meets homeowners dealing with stagnating markets [Crying] , property confiscation, [Crying] legal battles [Crying] and subsidence. [w00t] The programme also reveals the results of a specially commissioned survey of 6,000 people [Whistling] about other foreign property nightmares, from frustrating bureaucracy to confusing property law and language difficulties" [w00t] Anyone on her taken aprt in this " survey".... thought not. First programme seemed to be all about Spain Ron in the Avey-ron** Better see the Computer Doc, Ron! It has a serious case of 'Yellow Measles'.

 15.
Honfleur - arriving by sea
**Honfleur - arriving by sea** Agreed and almost anywhere along the coast of Bretagne.
 16.
Mont St Michel, early in the morning or across the baie.
**Mont St Michel, early in the morning or across the baie.** Yep and we can see it about a quarter mile from the house and we are 10 miles away.
 17.
Gee this goes on & on ? Today, I watched a blue fly & a black fly trying to climb up a wall. It was fascinating. First one one, then the other edged ahead. And tactics came into play. There is a difference between being a fan and an SOB (Sports OBsessive) One is fun, the other leads to dumb things like gambling. You can bet on that.

If these fail to while away the long dark evenings there are always those easy French girls ...** LOL!! Very good!!

 21.
It seems to me that for some national pride is OK if its the French that are proud, but if its the British, then its boring or overdone. It was a great celebration for a few days - come on, enjoy it.....
**Still if we have managed to export people without the generosity of spirit to at least tolerate it without complaint then GOOD !!! )** Someone mentioned the off button on the TV remote. We approached it from a different angle. Our dish accesses three sats . . . . none of them have British programming except for 'BBC World News' which we don't watch anyway.
 22.
"Blimey, I would be more than a little worried that someone sat in front of TV watching England play the Ockers and waiting just to see" The point is I wasn't sitting watching England play............
**Thank goodness Tim Henman didn't win Wimbledon!** I wouldn't worry too much about that. He can and does play fantastic tennis but he has never been able to be consistant. Now with injuries recurring, I doubt he ever will. Murray could be an up-and-comer. For the most part, all Rusedski can do is pound aces. He has become injury-prone of late too.
