1.

No, Matron, I said...
A burnt black cokker, now that must be painful.
I was just thinking the same thing.
 2.
Not sure if any of you have seen this one, but I thought it was really funny.  Take a look. http://www.transmogrified.com/photo/beckys/bestcommercialever1.mpg
Great, Lori, thanks!
 3. >>Hello Ray, welcome back ! << Thank you, CA!  I have been lurking but these last six months have been pretty 'hairy' around here.  Nothing dramatic but just a series of aggravations coming one after the other.  I got them all taken care of now and am back to my normal abnormality. My thanks to Ty, Tresco and others  who asked about me.   That was very much appreciated. Now . . . . off to my next windmill! Don Q aka
 4. >> Dont rise to the bait baby!<< You've got it, Triple K!!  Another way of saying it is  - 'Consider the source and move on!'  That is why you never see me responding to certain people. It must be terrible spending one's life having to be 'right all the time'.
 5.
Happy Independence Day to all USA forum members!
Thank you, Dick!
 6. Could it have  been this? www.oiseau-libre.net/Oiseaux/Especes/PouleDeau.html
 7.
Well it might keep Pete&Hilary in Eurosport for a bit.   Kind offer Ray.   Wonder where they are in France?
Almost to Bordeaux in 16, I think.
 8.
Just like us in the UK,  where the mental stimulation of following French TV beats the comatose-inducing effects of the stuff we can get on an ordinary UHF aerial!    Most of the time at least....
I have an analogue dish, LNB and decoder you (or anyone else) can have if you want it.
 9.
No indeed the German digital one is free.   But I had already mentioned that one in the previous post.... It is frustrating that - simply because of the way German TV is set up - that they enjoy so many channels FTA when us UK-based mugs (at least those who stray no further than Sky) find that they are chargeable,  unless that is we go out and get a dish that accesses satellites other than Astra 2.
Sigh!  Life CAN be cruel!  We have one dish with two LNBs.  We get a few Brit channels but don't watch them.
 10.
Ah but you're paying for the French version via your abonnement.....
Ah, but not the one in German.  The CS one is part of the basic package.  We very frequently watch about 10 canals.  What is that line about 'lunches'?
 11. We get it on Astra in German and Canal Satellite in French.  Both digital.
 12.
The Mairie can also do an authenticated copy. I once asked the gendarmes and they said that that would not be sufficient, although I do realise that every gendarme in the country may have their own idea about this.
Well now, I'm glad we got that all sorted out and know exactly what to do now. Sigh!
 13.
In spite of what the PM is saying and how well prepared France is supposed to be. I cannot but think that information has not reached paysanne level yet. AND that these great protection/security things that are being put in place are for the big cities and their banilieu rather than everywhere.
God forbid that an individual would use their own common sense to protect their fowl without a government directive!  Sigh!
 14. >>whatever the part of a chicken they are.<< Chicken lips compressed into blobs, rolled in sawdust and boiled.  It's the dip that makes the difference.  Happy eating!!
 15. >>Ray - we did consider "the full monty" for about 15 seconds. Personally, I have no particular qualms about exposing myself to our local priest and the children's headmistress (I used to play rugby, you see), but the other members (no pun intended) of the troupe felt that perhaps the village isn't quite ready for it. I have decided to defer to their judgement as they have lived here rather longer than I have.<< Just trying to help! (g)  Now about this headmistress and you in a scrum . . . . . .
