1. "Anyway, I chucked it over the fence this morning," The verdict of the jury, given by their foreman, brought uproar in court as he pronounced "Not Guilty". The defendant turned to smile at him and almost imperceptibly made an upward movement of the thumb on her right hand. In his summing up the Judge had pointed out to the jury the testimony of the Veolia employee at the tip in question, who had said that on the morning of the alledged offence he had found a breadmaker neatly stacked at the side of the closed container reserved for small electrical appliances when he went to open it up. The defendant left the dock to loud boos from the public gallery where someone was waving a banana in protest. Outside the court the jury foreman, who had arrived by bus that morning, was seen leaving in a shiny new Dacia Logan. The story, however, has a happy ending. J-P, the perpetual adolescent who hangs around the tip on his battered old moped with two wheeled gas cart attached, approached the Veolia employee and asked if he could take the discarded breadmaker from the small appliance container. Yves paused from flicking specs of dust from his shiny new Dacia Logan, spat at the boys' feet, and nodded. J-P spent all evening dismantling and cleaning the breadmaker so that the next morning at his grandparent's house where he lived (he had been abandoned by his parents when their new baby arrived) there wafted the heady smell of freshly made brioche. His grandparents smiled indulgently at J-P as they settled down to breakfast together.
2.
For those interested my surgeon ( Mr Palethorpe, who came to see me before and after he had performed the op)
Didn't he make sausages?  [6] I'll look at the contents a bit closer in the future.  [:D]
3. My reply was not to do solely with age but a combination of age and duration of stay. As for searching their site to find an email address to request a callback, well, there are plenty of suppliers out there who don't have 0844 numbers.
4. Maybe the French are aware of the UK programme to examine benefit claimants aged between 16 and 64 years to test their eligibility to continue receiving benefits and by extension their right to an S1. Seems prudent by the French authorities to me.
5.
I need calls to Argentina to keep in touch with my malvinas support group.
That's damned clever of the Islanders to have set up a support group within Argentina. Hip hip hooray for them.
6. Staysure seem to have a problem with people over 65 years who wish to travel for more than 30 days. Added to that they have an 0844 telephone number so I'd be unlikely to ring them to clarify.
7. The jury is still out. The miscreant has been advised by counsel not to comment unless this further incriminates her. The judge has been seen brushing the cobwebs off his black cap and wooly has been lucky not to have been sent down for contempt. Bring back D notices!!!!!
8.
Keni & Chris - I gather from Wooly that Claire is still not forgiven![:D]
You should look on the BREADMAKER thread for the latest.
9.
There's an old saying "No such thing as a free meal". Nat West are free but the rate is 1.142 and as you go round the market place so the deals vary.
Whilst there are people around who think that banks are benevolent societies they will continue to get away with this type of con.
10. Remember this woolybanana.      [6] No one ever pulled driving a Dacia.     [8-|] You'll thank me for this information in the long run.    [:D]
11. Several posts have been removed from this thread as les flics commence equiries, following an anonymous tip off, into the illegal disposal of a dead breadmaker.
12. Excuse me for resurrecting [+o(] this thread but does anyone know what time the, err.......internment is tomorrow as I'm sure many of us would like to take the time to quitely stand for a minute or so to reflect on the tragically short life of this breadmaker as we all advance in years. Thank you.
13.

What a way to go, no memorial service, unmarked grave, not even a handful of flour to mark the departure.
Family flours only...?[:)]
Doughnations to....................[:D]
14.
never seen an accent in an email address, I didn't think you could!
I was talking about the text itself, not the address.
15. That's the trouble these days wooly; easy come easy go, chuck it away, get another. You give a lifetime's service working your fingers to the bone and then, when you need a bit of decent respect, phoof, nothing, rien, nada.
16. Thanks for the replies. There doesn't appear to be any adverse comment out there. The device would be fitted in our motorhome on the basis that, if it were stolen, then it would be much cheaper to recover it rather than start arguing with an insurance assessor over it's "replacement value". I would prefer to purchase in the UK as I'm not sufficiently tech savvy and it's comforting to know I have English language back-up if needed. Thanks again.  [:D]
17. Exchanging emails with a French friend she asked me to stop using accents (from Lexibar if I remember correctly) as they came out as strange characters eg %, @, etc etc. She said it was easier to work out the accents I hadn't put in rather than guess what were the underlying accented letters that had been substituted. Something to do with character sets I believe. Maybe that is what is happening.
18. Could any gizmo techies out there comment on this device please? It's low initial cost and the fact there aren't any monthly charges makes it attractive from a cost point of view but do you think it is any good? http://back2you.com/store/product_info.cfm?product_id=75
19. Completely off topic. You wouldn't know Quillan but inside the back cover of the Sunday Times "Style" magazine is a spoof column by Mrs Mill, a sort of upmarket agony aunt. As an example one of the letters she dealt with last year was from a lady who said that her husband played with his hose a lot in the garden. "Is this normal?" she asked. The following question from one of your earlier posts nearly made me fall off my seat laughing.  [:D]  [:D]  [:D]  [:D]
I take it that the length is unstretched so how long would my sausage be when it's made using one length?
I'll get my coat now.
20.
Personally, pubs and restaurants are a great deal better than before the ban.
Unless of course you want to eat on the terrace on a nice day.[Www] Just ban it in public and have done with it. And don't even mention the entrance to shopping arcades.
21. Chemist (as Sprogster suggests)? NHS Direct?
22. Just to add, you can renew a passport six months (or is it nine) ahead so you could coincide with a visit to see the rellies.[8-|]
23.
When I challenged the embassy in Paris, I was told "well someone has to pay for us to be here to support you" [:@]
You just can't get the staff these days.  [:@]
