  1. Well... there's only a few pence in it... Getting travellers cheques is certainly cheaper than the €30 euros I get charged by my french bank each time I send sterling cheques to them. When I'm sending £50 - £100 each month to keep my french bank account ticking over, I'm not really worried about a few extra pence in the exchange rate when I buy travellers cheques. I have found my method the cheapest by a long long way.. unless anyone on here can tell me otherwise.... not sure there is a cheaper way, if there is please enlighten me.
  2. Hello The cheapest way for me to put money in my French Bank is to buy Euro travellers cheques and send them to France. This is free. However, today my post office told me they are phasing out Euros travellers cheques as they are not being recognised in France much anymore!!! Do any of you know another way I can send money to France with no exchange fees? janet
  3. Hi there We have een buying logs for our open fire from our french neighbour, but I m beginning to think they are expensive... We pay 60 euros for one meter cubed... Is this the normal price for logs in France? It seems so expensive compared to the price in UK... (however, most things have increased in price in France compared to the UK). Janet

  5. Hi There Every year we get a bill added into our tax de habitation for audio visual... It's around 118 euros. We have no tv and no arial to receive any sort of tv, but the tresorie keep insisting I pay it. I don't really understand why I should pay it... Any suggestions as to why they insist if it's for something I don't have? Thanks janet

  7. We have a house in the Pyrenees near Ax les Thermes and are considering letting it out for holiday makers. Can anyone reccommend a good company to do this through? Aswe are based in UK most of the year, we won't be able to clean between holiday makers, so we'll need a company that can do this for us. Also I guess we will have to have the house all tickedy boo for health and safety etc. Any info you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks janet
