  4. 5 element Never had a problem with clients complaining they are too hot on our Ikea beds. Mind you the old mas never gets overheated, helped by the huge amount of insulation in the roof and ceiling fans in all guest rooms. Sleep well W
  5. Check these out as well http://images.google.co.uk/images?hl=en&rlz=1G1GGLQ_ENUK367&q=photos+straw+houses&oq=&gs_rfai=&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=L6unS8L8CY6d4QbQ7d2BAw&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&ct=title&resnum=4&ved=0CB8QsAQwAw Way to go and sure beats the h8ll out of pigs and sausages W
  6. We have had ikea beds for the last 20 years, swedish wife, and have always found them to exceptionally comfortable, but they are not cheap. if you want the very best try Hastans, also swedish but arm and a leg time.........but then you spend around 30% of your life using it so not a bad investment. Lastly if people insist on doing this think of the repercussions; friend was telling me this lunch time that she went to a super-chic bed store and tried out all the beds... took the references of the ones she liked and then went hom and ordered them online through a discount bedding shop and saved two thirds of the price Perhaps this is the way to go If everyone does it there will be no small shops left either here or in the UK..........or anywhere else for that matter. Sleep well Wilko
  7. Build it yourself with straw bales and then render, much cheaper. W
  8. The OP post beggars belief.........why would you sign anything if you aren't sure. You are the buyer and things ain't selling in a hurry so what's the problem ? Rgds W
  9. This thread is on tripadvisor re car hire insurance http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g187234-i138-k3368742-No_insurance_excess-Nice_French_Riviera_Cote_d_Azur_Provence.html Rgds Wilko
  10. Sprogster Point taken. I was only trying to point out to the OP to beware a location in the stix. It will end up in tears also we had no children on board being mediumly old farts........they've flown the nest. Though we are regarded as "useful parents" as it is a great place for a free holiday, thank god we only had two. Originally we were determined to open on the Coted'Azur but prices were prohibitive and many of the original properties were demolished years ago for what is now, in many places, urban villa sprawl. It is still possible to find a ruined Mas here in the Luberon and some are at the right price. I think i could still buy and refurbish for similar money but I speak better French, have contacts in the building trade and have a greater understanding of the way the French like to do things. Regards Wilko
  11. Wow thanks a lot Rose.........feel free to make a reservation. Rgds Wilko
  12. We moved to Provence 7 years ago having bought a ruin. It took 2 year for the refurbishments and then we opened our B&B. For the past 5 years we have lived very comfortably from the income. I think that the two biggest pitfalls for yourselves are location and under capitalisation. IMO the best places in France to start a B&B biz would be:Cote d'Azur, western Provence or Paris. A B&B will thrive if you are in an international tourist area, my guess is that you will not survive in the Limousin. If you have the funds you should look at buying an existing B&B business. Good luck Wilko www.maspomona.com

Do wolves get tix ? If they do, which is logical, how do they deal with them ? W
  14. Theiere thanks for that, i didn't think anyone had posted as I never received a reminder in my inbox............maybe I forgot to tick the replies box. Thanks again Wilko
  15. Chris Point taken but it is not just les francais. How many people on forums like this ask for advice, which is freely given, with never a post from the OP saying thanks ?? Wilko
  16. We moved from CB in 2003 to Provence. We used a guy called Barry Stone Removals....google him, he lives/lived in Bar Hill Apart from our removal I have no connection with him. he was reasonably priced and a brilliant removal man, can't recommend him highly enough. Wilko
  17. About a yaer ago a friend (frencg0 of mine filled up with diesel, tank half full, at leclerc in Cavaillon. His car ground to a halt 10 minutes later and his Peugeot garage said that there was white spirit in the tank..............it's still a mystery and leclerc refuse to accept liaibility for the 1200 euro bill to sort the car at the garage.Fortunately he has the bill for the fuel and is pursuing the matter via his lawyer and no longer shops at leclerc.
  18. Is there any sort of cost effective substitute for PH- Just bringing the pool out of hibernation and in need of several litres. Thanks Wilko
  19. Love that D/rouge........well done. Could you explain further "I picked a rather obscure address for the bank so that it would get lost in the system." Rgds Wilko
  20. I'd set up some sort of web presence as soon as possible. It will take some months to establish any sort of presence. Be obliged if you could mail me when operational as we visit Paris a couple of times a year. good luck Wilko
  21. There's so much rubbish talked about the education of today's little blighters. I have found that the construction of a fairly adequate lockable space beneath the stairs. Kids are ushered in at the age of 3 years, passed the Telegraph on a regular basis along with a glass of milk or two. Let them out 15 years later and you have perfectly balanced human beings. A friend of mine has adhered to this plan and has two very successful sons with careers in.......... politics. Way to go or what ??
