Hope everything goes well. Always found that the three sylable rule works for medicine in France. Do best Charles Aznovour / Maurice Chavalier accent and see what turns up.

I lost faith with them when the training room door in Bordeaux had 'Malmo' painted out. Also I felt some of the fun had gone out of our world when the double beds stopped having signs saying 'if you want any help trying these please ask for one of our assistants'

Sometime in the early 70s St Galen in Switzerland to Ostend in Belgium. Followed an Opel Comodore for twenty minutes with a Renault 4L. Finally was bored and overtook in the inside into a down hill right hander. Did not bother with the brakes for the next half hour by which time the Opel was a distant memory. Only comment from my mother 'Dad would have done it at least three bends earlier'

how much water can I drain out of my pool
Anton Redman replied to billy10's topic in Swimming Pools in France
You should be able to set up something using a cheaper version of this so the mercury switch only comes on when the water is at the right height. http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/product/details/csv1a-11-4in-submersible-vortex-water-p/path/submersible-pumps-dirty-water -
With bank details adress, date of birth and address it may be possible to set up internet banking. Once that is set up internet banking YOU can transfer money to other accounts. YOU in this context being who ever applied for internet banking

Anybody who you ever pay by cheque has the information he needs to pay you. Exact Account Name Bank and Branch Six Digit Sort Code Account Number In order to pay you he also needs the supply / check similar information about hois account plus his date of birth and an eight digit security number. He may have an IBAN which reduces the amount of typeing. I cannot remeber the last time I wrote a UK cheque. No envelope to address, to letter to post and the details I want appear on the bank statement so no guessing what I paid for, plus a printout which clearly shows the money was sent.

As a broad rule of thumb stand in front of the dish looking along the LNB arm. If there is new growth leaves on a tree which is less than half the distance you are away from the dish it is probably interfering with the signal. You only need a hole in the foliage marginally bigger than the dish provided it is the right place.

My life time experience of changing headlamps to dip the other way ; Ford Anglia 105E, Ford Cortina Mk 1 Estate, Ford Cortina Mk 2 GT Estate. Round yellow units with a prism held on with clips and rubber springs which resembled suspenders. Renault 4L and Renault 10. Open bonnet take off back of headlamp turn bulb about 15 degrees and get on with holiday. Rover 2000 and Datsun 1600 SSS. Move inner dipped beam to outside of car on left. Replace main beam units with LHD dipping units. Install relays to ensure dipped beam points one way or the other. Peugeot 306 New Headlamps Jaguar X type 2005 – open bonnet and turn black lever I always hope somebody will post saying how easy it is

Telephone conection problems
Anton Redman replied to Robert H's topic in French Satellite TV, French Internet and Telephone
As far as I am aware all that happens is that you still pay FT for a landline but AS24 or however they are a far lower price that FT. The actual routing of calls etc remains the same. My first chec would be a walk round the property looking at the telephone cables for obvious damage / water ingress. -

Despite renovating one house in 87 and living in 33 for five years I have never found a timber yard which had the facilities to mill skirting. You can buy mean plynths which look fine in modern boxes but not real skirting. For the mid 19th century town house I recently finished. I cheated and used two suitable pieces of floor board with a molding to replace three meters which was missing. Otherwise it is a bench router and suitable fraises.

Have a look at their websites. Last time I looked only one had a set of audited accounts posted. They had a very small amount of capital versus a huge turnover. It would only takes a small error or a single rogue trader to wipe some of them out. Also google Sterling and Currency and Manchester

Pre-emigration French lessons - how useful?
Anton Redman replied to Daft Doctor's topic in French Education
There is a good American book about counting cards in the LA casinos called something like 'Beating the House' unless you can conjugate the verbs without thinking you will never be fluent. -
I always find that thinking about Anne Widecombe for ten minutes avoids pop ups. Those of a more liberal inclination will find Cyril Smith has a similar impact.

It's over the banana and me are finished!
Anton Redman replied to idun's topic in French Food and Wine
Depending on how heavy your banana benders were and the rest of your diet you could be fairly close to potassium poisoning -
NO The small fuse replacements are circuit breakers which protect the wiring against over loading if for instance somebody plugs are three Kilowatt electric fire into every plug on a feed or sets up a direct load to return connections anywhere. The big brown thing is probably designed to cut the power if there is a difference in the power returning from the power sent out. Think dog in Flymo plug advert about to bite cable which has already been cut by lawn mower. If you post a photograph and or a list of all markings on the BBT then somebody may post a better view of what to do. Broadly any modern freezer should be able to stand 24 hours without power, provided you do not open it to check that it is OK, and wait till it has reached normal temperature before opening the door. If you are leaving a deep freeze in a holiday home the only answer I have ever heard of is a neighbour to reset the system when there is a surge.

Contact the people who sent it. They will have some clout with DHL as they are a business customer

Yes it does stop at the meter and does not include the earth.

Colin Dexter changed the car used by Morse from a truly excentric but great Lancia to a boring Jaguar following the early episodes of the TV series. The later Sharp books were heavily influenced by Sean Bean. Robbie Coltrane, Lien Nelson or Russell Crowe ?

My recollection from the only book I read was between 200 and 300 lbs = 2 time Tom Cruise

That is great
