1. Is it because she has to re-do all her washing?[:)] Georgina
2.
At nine years of age, even if she did want to go home for whatever reason, her parents should not have been put that. IF Shannon had voiced concerns to a relative, then he should have gone through the proper channels,by not doing so it is right that he was arrested for questioning.
Not everyone from Dewsbury is blessed with this reasoning power.  Believe me I know. He may have thought he was protecting her.  He could indeed, have been her last step dad and had a good relationship with her?   But that is just a guess (not to be confused with any direct knowledge). Did you see the current step dad, who looked about 12. Georgina
3. I think there was some reason why she did not want to go back home when she possibly could have.  We will have to wait and see. Watch this space.  We are all assuming that this man took her, but it could be he was just hiding her as she did not want to go home. The media sells more papers by making it look like an abduction. Georgina
4. [West Yorkshire Police said that a 39-year-old man was arrested at the address on suspicion of abduction. He has not been identified, although there was speculation that he is one of Shannon's relatives. ]   Sounds very much like it probably could be her real dad then.  In which case not good news for Shannon. 5.

Why snobby? Please elucidate!
It was your little 'pop' at working class speech patterns and child naming that bugged me, but having read back through the thread that was no worse than the snide remarks made by others about this particular mothers lifestyle (re the number of children she has, how they're schooled and where they live etc) so you're not alone.[;-)]
Oh really Tress, why do you think programmes like Little Britain are so funny then and Vicky Pollard ...do you write them letters of complaint?? Lighten up.[:D]   Georgina (reformed working class just like Mr Two Jags)[:)]
6. Perhaps she shoved him off the scaffolding tower!!   Georgina
7. When I was introduced to a Gendarme last year at a party, he acted like he should be apologising for it. He was certainly not proud to announce it to me. Georgina
8. Yes and when you try to delete it, it won't let you even if you try immediately. Georgina
9. There is a fine line between giving an opinion, which is what this forum is for I think, and being judgemental is there not? Georgina
10. Hey don't be judgemental about judges!!!![:)]   Georgina
11. It gets worse:   my husband has not got a lot of income from his buissnes , he has been so silly that he has not payed national insurence contribution in England just his taxes, we fill all the tax forms here and the rest income and every thing we have to fill here in France but because our income in general counting everything is not great we are not to pay taxes or national contributions here in France either we just as we say survive and at the same time we are trying to get a job anyjob which we find so difficult, there isn´´t any, now we have been told that we will not be intitle to cmu anymore, so what do we do, we don´´t want to return to England because of the children, they are happy here and doing very well at school, we phoned the British Embassy and told us that what they told us it was correct and it would even affect pensioners who will have to pay the 30% top up, so we get more and more confused all the time. (BTW it's Normandy [;-)]) Georgina

13. I'll go back and have a sneek peep. Am I allowed to post the link? Georgina
14. Sadly I don't think it's a wind up.  I think it is pure ignorance.  We have all seen those No Going Back programmes where they all pour into two caravans, eight kids six dogs and cats etc.  to Spain usually.   Georgina
15. http://text-to-speech-translator.paralink.com/#   Hey my computer will whisper sweet nothings now just look!!  Crikey I must get a life. Georgina
16. [Today we went to CAMP, they told us that they will remove the CMU from us, we are class as inactive because we don´t work in France and my husband income is not grate enough to pay contributions, his income from a small buisnes in England, we will not be able to afford any private insurence as we are a family of seven , two adults and five children , any body knows anything about it, we don´t want to go back to England, the children are settled down here , what do we do]   The above was posted on another popular forum this week.  I wonder how many more like this??  Poor kids I say.[:(] Georgina
17.
I think perhaps the main difference in the Spanish and French people generally is that the Spanish tend to live for today and take life as it comes. The French on the other hand think long, worry too much and are a little oppressed by the system. I like to think that a middle way between those two poles is about right.
Agh that would be the Brits then? Georgina [:)]
18. I had a terrible experience with BF where the crossing was delayed ending up with the dog in the car for over 10 hours.  This amounted to cruelty and I was not allowed to see her.  They don't seem to be prepared to help but are happy to just take the money. I have not taken her since and think it is kinder to put her in kennels whilst i am away. Georgina
19. My father has prostate cancer and is currently in hospital and has been for over a week now. His bleeding would not stop so it has been cortorised.  He is having hormone treatment to reduce the tumour and cannot wee at the moment, so has to stay in hospital until they can sort it out.  I just don't know what the prognosis is, but suspect it will not be going away. So please post any information, I will be interested to read it. Georgina[8-)]
20. I am getting these about 50 a day, it's really getting on my nerves.   I wish this bloomin Viagra was never invented.[:@]  And WHY do they want to give me an extension to something I don't have? Georgina
21. We offered ours to Emmaus, could not believe it when they turned them down.  But I know what you mean Rose, they are a nightmare to get rid of, I would have gladly paid someone to shift them but as it was some big strong Brits who came and shifted them in minutes were quite welcome to them.  For anyone that has still got them, changing the radiators saved heaps on heating oil. Plus they get a bit disgusting behind.  I don't care if they look quaint. Georgina
22. I thought how dull it was.  No colour. Like going from colour to black and white. However, I thought that it was different in the shops where people were more pleasant than I recall, but then perhaps I was not as stressed as I was when I lived there and I now feel it was more to do with my attitude than theirs.
