1. Not only that but the guy he killed was drunk had hit the central reservation barrier spun round and was stationery in the outside lane  facing the wrong way when L Ahmed struck him
2. Just because you say that the new specs are not suitable is not enough to gain a refund. You will need to prove that either the opthamologist gave you a wrong prescription after your eye test or the optician has made up the lense presciption wrongly . In order to prove the first would involve going to another opthamologist and spending more money and in order to prove the second going to another optician
3. Why not make a personal visit to the insurance company and ask them what the problem is.
4. Any mention of the film being previously withdrawn ,protests by Lord Ahmed ,muslims taking to the streets?
5.
BaF, The comments that Lord Ahmed made regarding mobilising thousands of Muslim protesters was, I believe, reported reasonably widely in the UK National press, I don't have a link but I am sure an archive search of various newspaper will reveal it. It would seem that his protestations have resulted in the Dutch MP being deported from Britain after arrival at LHR on a British Midland flight from Holland. I have not seen the film but understand that it is pretty innocuous really, being a basic statement of actual facts. Whether Lord Ahmed leads a protest is yet to be reported, we will know after the film is shown.
The alleged protest led by Lord Ahmed was never reported in the British press simply because it did not happen .There was no intention of showing the film on 29th January in the House of Lords,Lord Ahmed did not protest to the leader of the house, the Dutch MP was not invited because none of it happened. However what did happen was that the right wing Brussels Journal, a front for an extreme right wing political party with connections to the Dutch MP put out a story that the film had been banned in order to stir up racial tension. Last night the film was shown in the House of Lords and there was no protest. Lord Pearson ( a man) was the person who invited the Dutch MP and decided to show the film, not a woman member of the house of Lords as previously reported. Neither Lord Pearson or  Lord Ahmed  made any mention of the film being previously banned ,very strange if it had been. As I say in my opinion a story put about to discredit muslims, just like the story about the boy tortured for stealing bread
6. Here is a strange thing. Last month certain people were incenced that Lord Ahmed had managed to get a film prevented from being shown in the House of Lords ( a racist film) This film was allegedly due to be shown on 29th January but Lord Ahmed had allegedly managed to get the decision to invite the right wing mp and the film banned. At the time I asked for a source as I could find not a mention on any mainstream news but was only given links to extreme right wing organisations or with websites linked to them (if one looked closely enough) Today I discover that the film is due to be shown tonight in the house of Lords, so no ban , no mention of Lord Ahmed leading a protest. However the dutch MP has been banned from entering the country by the home office. Some people seem to be intent on running a slur campaign against Muslims.
7. Thank god it's not just me then. On Saturday went into Quick burger  for a snack. Decided to ask for ""A Triple cheese"" . This was what was up on the board as their special ,wife wanted ""A long chicken"" Was met with total puzzlement  I tried again this time pronouncing  Triple cheese and Long chicken  with a kind of Hello Hello accent. Suddenly another assistant appeared, announced she could speak English what do you want. Triple cheese et une  Long Chicken. SVP . What do you want ?  I almost said ""Do you not understand French"" but I did not . I eventually got my Triple cheese and Long chicken but it was an uphill struggle. On another occasion my wife asked in Mr Bricolage where the toilet was in French .The checkout girl replied that she did not speak english .My wife repeated the question (in French) and got the same response. My wife then said to the shop assistant in French"" But I am speaking French not English "" A smile broke out on the shop assistants face as it dawned that in fact she could understand what my wife was saying and directions were duly given.
8. Our Vet here does not charge. We went with friends as their dog was suffering. The vet on being asked how much ,after the deed, said Why should you pay to have your pet put to sleep,
9. I think it must be the time of year.Either that or a certain person who will remain unspoken about has sneaked onto this forum [:)]
10. Excellent, feed the Christian infidels to the lions
11. So after all that verbal garbage, you cannot justify your first post on this subject.
12.
Which personally, I find highly offensive: and a crass insult to my intellect, scholarship, research and deductive ability. As I stated earlier on, using the term "Racist" in a perjorative sense and other perjoratives is a clever psychological method being used to deflect and confuse ill-informed opinion.
First question then ,using your intellect and  research please point me in the direction of a proper news report from a proper newspaper or news channel reporting the alleged cancelling of the Film in the House of Lords. I have used my intellect, research and deductive ability to establish that the only reports of this are in BLOGS , forums or the BNP website.which I find rather strange .If it were true I wouls have thought the British press would have had something to say, but there is a deathly silence.
13. You have me totally wrong I am not pro muslim/anti christian   What I am  anti  is extreme  right wing propaganda  designed to make us  think that all Muslims are a danger to our western culture and civilisation and they are  hell bent on  making western europe another Islamic state.
14.
So the cruelty of the Crusaders was not a problem because they did what they did with the best intentions!  I'm sure musliims would argue those same good intentions.  Both aimed to 'convert' unbelievers and were cruel and barbaric in the process. As to generalisms v specifics - anyone here making a sweeping statement (like the many generalisations about muslims in this thread) are asked for specific examples.  Where they have been provided to demonstrate islamic cruelty these have been debunked as urban myths / set ups.  I provided a specific and verifiable example of such cruelty and cover up in a christian church.  I could quote many 'general' examples: sexual abuse of young boys by catholic priests, the cover ups which followed, maltreatment of single pregnant girls (particularly in Ireland), denial of contraception resulting in unwanted pregnancies, acute poverty and the spread of aids....
Scooby I said the self same thing on page 2 but was studiously ignored by the islamaphobes
15.
I was receently sent a very descriptive e-mail showing an 8 year old boy who had been caught stealing a loaf of bread in an Iranian market. His arm was placed under the wheel of a truck which was then driven over it to presumably,"teach him a lesson", bad enough in itself but the photo's were obviously taken by someone and also showed an adult man holding down the child whilst in his other hand is a microphone so he can perhaps, give a running commentary. All this by people who will, one day, take over the world, glad I won't be around to see it.
Another load of nonsense designed to have us all up in arms about the barbarism of Islam http://www.snopes.com/photos/gruesome/crushboy.asp I find it highly suspicious that someone with their first post just happens to have received an e mail recently, allegedly relevant to this debate.
16.
I think people were puzzled at your original comment that you had absolutely no income and were a bit concerned that you'd made a silly error in imagining that the interest from your savings was not income..... Still, as you say, it's your business.....[8-)]
I suspect that it will very quickly become the taxman and CPAM,s business if they declare they have NO income.
17.
I find minding my own business works a treat !  [;-)] Vanman - you're quite right  [:)]  we (quite obviously) live off our savings.
Which you have stuffed under the mattress in and old sock [:)]. You will be asked by CPAM to declare your income, and if you say nothing then you will be 1) Subjected to an examination of your lifestyle to establish just how much income you do have or 2) You may be refused entry to CMU as one must have sufficient income not to be a burden on the state
18. If you have no income what do you live on
19. There is no such thing as no win no fee in France, in fact it is illegal for avocats to offer this. It is all very well saying you are going to sue the school, but you need to think, can you afford the avocats fees, around 300 euros per hour, can you say with certainty who was responsible etc.
20.
Why assume everyone is male?  Why post just to insult people?  Why would a large and reputable company insure many UK registered cars if it's illegal to do so?  (And in one case, have dealt with a claim with no problem.)
It is not illegal for AXA to insure a UK registered car ,for a short time. However as in the UK,a broker will probably not know the exact legislation in relation to foreign registered vehicles. However if you are happy to follow the advice of your english friends ,good luck but do not ask advice on this forum if you are not prepared to accept the correct and legal way of residing in France
21.
[Not quite correct... The form does not ask what the dwelling is built out of, but what type of property it is, i.e. a house, a flat, a hotel room, a room in someone else's house... The form does not ask who stays there, but who lives there.
Just a small correction In Scotland people stay in a house or live in a house but more common to say stay so perhaps Dog is Scottish and is therefore perfectly correct
22. http://www.expert-diagnostic.fr/diagnostics-obligatoires.php   Gives you all the info
23.
Well, I had thought the same but didn't know whether you get French plates then insurance or vice-versa.  However Axa is obviously used to insuring English registered cars in France.  We have a valid MOT and UK tax at the moment.  I realise we should get local registration plates after 6 months but that and new headlights is quite an expense so the later the better.  Having said that, I know of British people who live in France and have had 2 UK registered cars for several years - in fact they only go to the UK by plane.  They found a Controle Technique that does not require them to change to French registration or change the headlights for driving on the right hand side.
I know lots of people who 1) Drive at well over the speed limit 2) Who drive while drunk 3) Who do not declare any tax returns in France despite living here full time. 4) Who break the law but do not get caught. That does not make it lawfull
