1. Gay, my Mom used to make that!! About seven layers, she had a special tin mould she used for it, the lemon layer would have sliced banana, the cherry layer had sour cream mixed in, the orange layer would have maraschino cherries, the lime layer- miniature marshmallows... How funny, haven't thought about that for years... it did look nice, I remember. But it did take up a lot of space in the fridge!
2. I have been dreading getting on the scales... but did anyway this morning to find... 0.5 kg lost! Yippee! Those long morning walks are having benefit! (oh yeah, and laying off the alcohol as well has helped to no end, I'm sure...)
3. Back down again to what I was, 92kg/14 stones 6 pounds. I'm happy with that because I was a bit reckless over the weekend with the booze... Just going to try to do the same this week! Oh! And my 'thin jeans' feel like my 'fat ones' this morning!! I didn't have to suck it in and jump up and down to zip them up, in fact, the zip overlaps now slightly.... amazing... Another dress size bites the dust!
4. Tuesday weigh-in and I wish I could say something good... well I weigh 93kg... so I am up 1kg over last week. I know why, I have made appaling food choices, eaten bread and crepes even some pasta and have felt absolutely ravenous because of it! Plus I have been a sloth and not done any exercise to speak of and even slacked on the cardiac exercise... so, todays weight is strictly my own fault, no one shoved that baguette in my gob! Its all emotional eating, which I haven't done for months. Still, its how I cope, sometimes, with very bad news. On the other hand, at least I only did it for a few days instead of for years like I have done in the past! Ok... lets just try to maintain this week...

6. Weedon I am guessing that the Rigger boots go to compliment the Milletts quilted shirts which only add to your own individual and unique 'couldn't give a stuff' style of Haute Couture? Hmmm....
7. OK, as its Tuesday, here is my weigh-in. I am at 92kg, so that means I have lost 1kg in the last two weeks, which I am happy with as I have been on a plateau! My cardiologist wants me down to 65kg so still 27kg to lose, but I have until Easter to do it. I have added in a 45 minute brisk walk every schoolday morning. After I walk the girls to school, I just continue on around the commune, some lovely views and it is very calming. OK, my goal is another 0.5kg this week!
8. It is fortunate to be able to actually shop, I on the other hand, must make do with internet commerce... but, oh! to be able to wander down a few certain streets in W1, lingering for a bit in Waterstones, doing a big shop at Fortnum and Mason, get a pullman at Wiltons for lunch then head up Duke Street... hang on! I'm homesick for London now!
9. I really like turkey and each year for Thanksgiving, as I have done since 1989, I bone the sucker out and stuff it back into 'turkey shape' with lots of dressing. Then I chop up the carcass, roast it for a bit (along with some carrots and onions) when the turkey first goes in and then boil the roasted carcass to bits. I then use this stock to baste with and to deglaze the roasting pan and make the gravy. So no carcass lurking in the fridge and I can carve the turkey in slices! (Of course it does look like someone has been at it with a chainsaw... ) My turkey is never dry because I cover it with a double layer of cheesecloth over the top and baste onto this every half hour using the aforementioned stock and melted butter. I make my own dressing, I have oddles of recipes, some which are vegetarian. Especially nice one I made up one Thanksgiving when I was eating vegetarian. I did all the carnivores a boned, stuffed guinea fowl (boy! Was that a fiddle!) and all the veggies got half an acorn squash stuffed with a pecan, raisin and saffron dressing, so it was kinda like having a your own vegetarian 'turkey'! If you want any recipes, PM me and I will write them out (they are all in my head!) and I'll send them! Can't stand the regular Paxo, it just screams 'SAGE!!' at me!!
10.
I see nothing but button downs here, sadly 99% of them are of a fairly dire quality.. Anyway, nothing wrong with wearing a tie with a button-down shirt, as long as it doesnt exceed 1 and 1/2 inches in...
OOoooOooh!! You men have rules for ties???? And Time, both T.M.Lewin and Charles Tyrwhitt have shops on Jermyn Street... So if I suggest you buy clothes from these establishments, you do, in effect, get your shirts from Jermyn Street, right? What I meant was, you don't physically shop there, you use the web.. get it? Humpf.
11. Hmmm, Time. Now do I think you get your shirts from Jermyn Street... no. But Addison and Steele have excellent quality MTM shirts. Or there is always T.M.Lewin or Charles Tyrwhittn since I am guessing you order on-line... Am I close? How cheap are you??
12. Time Give them the address of Lands' End, they have a French web presence and do those types of shirts... unless you also get them from there... (I am guessing not...) On a different note, the cot has been prepared for the baby and I am awaiting the joyful bundle...
13. Yes, Mrs O... I do know about oysters and moules amazing properties... So, I am hoping that my body will 'store it up' for a later date... as I am currently in the course of a divorce... and well, don't need it, you see?
14. Yesterday I did an 8km bike ride, today a 45 minute brisk walk and tonight (if I can get the chillin' to bed early,) I will be doing my Pilates CD. Sneaked on the scales this morning and was very, very happy with the results!!  I'll hope it continues like that until Tuesday weigh-in! Moules marinière with salad for dinner tonight!! Tomorrow, oysters for lunch!
15. Well, as of this morning, I have gone back on induction phase of Atkins because I am stuck on a plateau at the moment and the weather is too dire to go walking or biking! I was given a Pilates DVD so am trying to do that... but I just am so lazy! Its always hard for me when the kids are off school, both today and tomorrow... and the weather is yuck. Mind you, the sun is making an appearance just now, so... might just have to try to throw them outside on their bikes and do some exercise!
16. 11 stone 10 pounds is 74.4 kg. I use an online calculator. 2.2 pounds is equal to 1 kg. 14 pounds to the stone. I use kg because my set of new, French scales is in kg!
17. Is it Henri Roché pastels? Here is a link to an article about them.
18. Yeah, Ok Gay, go on then... I am at 93kg. I would like to be under 88kg before Christmas. I am doing Atkins, Pilates and my Cardiac walking. Haven't done any cycling because of the weather (I'm a wimp...) Want to post every so often to catch up with how we are doing? Anyone else game??
19. So you know PipRob, what I did was to reduce the file size so that it wouldn't take up so much bandwidth, then reduced the size to 400 pixels across so it would fit on the page, hosted it on the internet using Image Shack, then put the URL in using html (at bottom) Piece of cake, huh? Just so you know, we are championing an easier system....
20. Chouette Thats a bit flippant, really. It is also the basis of every diet. So why didn't it work for me all these years I have been trying to lose weight? Don't know. I do know that what I have been following has allowed me to reduce my mass significantly, safely and slowly. I am continuing to lose weight on modified Atkins. I didn't lose weight on low-fat and exercise. Each to their own.
21. Neither can I. Do you need help posting the picture? Send it to me by e-mail and I will post it for you!
22. I think it is more expensive to live here in France than in the Cheshire, Albuquerque or say, Vermont. But less expensive than San Diego, LA or Chiswick. The cost of meat is what gets me. I am astonished that I can't afford to buy more than I do, even if I used the same food budget I had in the UK, which I can't afford to do because other things are so much more expensive. It is not cheap here. Luckily thats not why I am here... for me its quality of life. I am willing to give up some things to have others. And you get what you pay for, I suppose.
