2. I'm with CA Charente-Perigord and have a CC non-resident account, their internet access charge is 0,50 € per connection with a maximum 5,00 € per month, but I understand that if you are resident and have a current account, the internet access is free. Jackie
 3.
It is Wen,s website, she used to store it in her signature but seems to have removed it.  However, being the superslueth I am, I remember her ranting here. http://www.completefrance.com/cs/forums/1026554/ShowPost.aspx She may take the address away from her post, and, that is why I have pasted it for you.  Good luck.
OK I know I've been away for a while [:D] But has 'Wen' turned into 'Jura' ? [:-))] Jackie

 7.
I think the on line facility has been deferred until 2009 due to computer problems. Its snail mail or nothing......unless someone knows better!
Do you mean deferred as in it was working but now it will not be available till 2009 or it has never been available? As I have had two each for myself and my OH one last year and one this year April[8-)] Jackie
 8. Hi  You can get a state pension forecast. Its fairly easy but you do need to wait a little for one in the post or you can get one online, that also takes a little time as you have to receive a code so you can enter the government 'Gateway' site but it is well worth it as they also tell you whether you can pay in extra for missing years. As I understand it if you have been a student then you may have been credited with those years! https://secure.thepensionservice.gov.uk/statepensionforecast/ Jackie
 9. She is 10 years old now, and is a chihuahua cross westie, although I had her at 8 weeks she was not from a proper breeder so she had not had her dew claws off as a small puppy and only after catching and riping them so often in the fields that I had them taken off when she was about 6 years old. I also have two yorkies. Jackie
 10.   Hi I've been looking for this one for a while now, its my dog Milly the day she came home after having her dew claws off at the vets. She loves to 'beg', self taught I may add! better view from up there, sometimes I walk into a room and she is 'begging' and no-one can see her!! 11.   Hi Spot the real cutie. This is Biggles one of my yorkies Sorry the pic is of poor quality but it was taken with the phone     Jackie
 12. Sorry to bring this thread back, but I've been in France with no Internet access!! and this is a subject close to my heart
Can I ask you why you think there is a particular aspect of cruelty towards horses in this regard. Is there something different in their treatment  compared to pigs, chickens, cows etc?
I think that what is being missed here is that Horses are far more intelligent and sensitive that the average animal / bird farmed for meat and require a completely different method of handling, they are flight animals and are therefore more aware of frightening situation, especially noise and sudden movement to a point that they will injure themselves trying to escape. If you need convincing of their superior intelligence, just watch a three day event like Badminton and see if you could do the same with a cow, pig or chicken. For me it is not the eating of Horses that is abhorrent but the treatment and misunderstanding they receive before slaughter that is unacceptable All animal / birds destined for meat are untitled  to humane treatment and handling. Jackie
 13. We leave for France on Sunday morning for 3 weeks, This time we are taking all three of our small dogs (2 yorkies and one heinz 57 little white thing) All are fully pet passported and I know all the regs to get them back home ,so no worries there. But I would like any advice/ suggestion  that would help and that we need to be aware of with regards keeping them from harm, eg. snakes, ticks, heat ( if we're lucky) They are all having a dose of front-line tonight! Thanks Jackie PS we have lots of long grass and are in the countryside
 14.
One other thing I have found recently is aching joints.  I've just ordered myself some Omega 3 fish oils to try and help that.
Today when I visited my doctor for the first time regarding  my menopausal symtoms, I mentioned that I had started to get pain in the knuckles of my right hand when I woke in the mornings and should I start taking somthing like glucosamine, he said to hold off taking anything as it well might clear up with the HRT
"Fluffy" brain is also another symptom, but I'm not sure if that is as a result of the BH or menopause.
Oh thats it then! now I know why my friends have started to say I should be blond [:-))] Jackie
 15. Today my doctor was all set to prescribe Prempak-C to me until I asked if it was the synthetic type, he duly started to look through his drug product book and went through the list until he came up with a non-equine synthetic based one. As it is a country practice with its own dispensary alas it was not in stock which lead me to believe that Prempak-C is the first choice and readily available! Had I not known about the dreadful way they get the estrogen I would now be adding the the market for this product. Vote with your feet ladies, if there is no market then there will no profit in keeping thees poor animals in this way, they would be better off dead than kept in thees hormone factories Jackie
 16. Please have a look at this: http://www.completefrance.com/cs/forums/1011734/ShowPost.aspx A very interesting thread looks like I will be joining in soon [:-))] Chipie
 17.
I do agree with you Cooperlola it is most definitely the treatment of any animal prior to reaching the dinner table!  However I personally won't eat Horse meat and although I'm not a vegetarian there are a few meats that I won't eat!
I totally agree with both Cooperlola and Morse98, I do not object to people eating horses what I object to is the inhumane way that a lot of horses are treated in the meat industry, Horses are very different and highly sensitive compared to other farm animals and therefore their treatment must be more understanding. I have had horses and ponies all my life and also reared beef cattle and sheep for several years ( only 3 pet sheep left now) I was not really comfortable on 'market days' as I am an animal lover!! I have no objection to commercial horses going for meat if they are treated with the care and are slaughtered close to where they are reared, the transportation of these horses seems to be the biggest cause for cruelty concerns What I do object to is old domesticated Horses and ponies ending up in sales destin for the 'meat man', people who sell on old faithful ponies instead of having the guts to have the poor thing put down at home in a safe and familiar surrounding. Last Wednesday I had one of my ponies put down at home, his name was 'Boston Blue Chip'  'Chipie' for short he was only 14 years old and had been my late daughters show pony, he had suffered from lymphacoma (sp) for 18 months and was put down by my vet with an injection, very quick very peaceful and buried in my field within minutes, the right ending for such a much loved pony. That makes 4 now. I know I am lucky to be able to do this as not everyone is. Jackie
 18. I have just returned from the Doctors after a consultation regarding the dreaded 'M'  word [:-))] and I thought that it should be known that the ingredients of Prempak-C,  Premarin and some other non synthetic HRT  treatments contain Equine derived Estrogen. This is one of the worst cases of animal abuse that is still going on in places like Canada. see this: http://www.equineadvocates.com/premarin.html I saw a program about this many years ago and vowed I would never use any drug that uses the barbaric method of obtaining an ingredient. So ladies please think twice when you next take HRT, is yours Equine derived? There are synthetic ones available. I have posted this in the 'Animal Welfare' so as to bring it to the attention of as many people as I can. I have 4 beautiful horses and could never condone anything like this, gives me a hot flush just thinking about it[+o(] Jackie

 20. Hi WJT I agree with Pat, I have several willows and it looks like this one is just starved of water, it looks as if it is able to start off new growth in the spring when there is more moisture in the ground but has struggled to make any new growth since, willows if planted in the right place should have growth right down to the ground within about 5 years, this one does not look like a very young tree but one that has struggled most of  its life. I had this trouble with the first two trees I planted many years ago, I had a new garden that was very heavy clay and my young weeping willows struggled for at least 3 years and I had to water them every summer, then eventually their roots took hold and they were away, beautiful arching branches right down to the ground, so I think if you can not trans plant it to somewhere with more moist soil give it another year or so with plenty of water and if that doesn't work and it remains an eyesore I would take it out. Good luck Jackie
 21.
I heard a report on the Beeb the other day which said that many plants have already decided it's Autumn and are shedding leaves/producing fruit etc.  Don't recall hearing what the long term effects might be for the plants.  Another question is that if the plants are much earlier in producing their 'harvest' what happens to birds/animals that rely on this happening later in the year?
My garden here in Shropshire the trees are certainly turning into autumn mode, I have been sweeping up dead leaves for days now and many are turning brown on the edges, also I have a large leaved ornamental vine over the terrace which has already got its autumn red colour on many of its leaves My horses have also started shedding their summer coats a month ago! and that's a whole two months early [:-))] Jackie
 22.
Our first winter in France we got through 7 cubic metres. By the end of it I finally worked out what we were doing wrong and the second winter we only used just under 2 cubic metres.[:)]
Can I ask what were you doing wrong?[:)] Jackie
 23.
There have been incidents reported this year of camping van occupants being gassed whilst they sleep so the thieves can enter and take what they want without being disturbed.
I saw a program on the TV some time last year and it was interviewing  two couples in a motor home who had 'Camped' overnight in one of the rest areas in SPAIN and had had gas put through the air vents, they didn't know anything had happened till next morning when they woke with sore throats and found things missing! I know it was Spain but when we travelled over this May with the caravan we made sure we stopped in one of the busy service areas, I slept like a log for 3 hours but hubby only managed 40 winks because of the noise. 24. Hi Smiley We stayed at this campsite last September, It is very easy to find, had excellent facilities and is not far from Poitiers (17k). Not sure if they will have space on the dates you are looking for but well worth ringing. Also it is just up the road from Futuroscope which was brilliant. Lac de St.-Cyr, La Trcherie Situated mid way between Chatellerault and Poitiers just of the N10 Tel.05 49 62 57 22 Email: [email protected] Jackie
