  1.  And wouldnt a French Argentinian final be a great prospect. Why are you so sure that Scotland will be beaten by Argentina, been watching the posts here for a while and you said previously that Argentine will certainly beat Scotland. Also whats wrong with a BRITISH team facing someone in the final, it isn't beyond belief......
  2. We were stopped by officials at Bergerac and had to leave behind confit de canard in tins ??? Maybe they thought we had a cannery and had opened them to fill them with curry that burns holes in planes [:P]
  3. done something similar here in Riberac, done a few hours work on friends gite and they repayed me pro rata in French lessons. Worked out fantastic for us both, we both got what we wanted and did not pay one cent either way. Perhaps that is the way forward, keep it small, work out an hourly rate for your work and the same for the other person and and equate the hours/cost !!
  4. Hi, not much help on the Dordogne but if you want to travel up to mussidan on the l'isle there are loads of good places to fish, good head of bream and roach and there are also carp tho i've failed to contact them.  There are also pike there and i've heard that a bit firther downstream there are Catfish ( silure). Hugh.
  5. Hi Pat, it was a female shark, shame on me for not going after the old sailors favourite, the common skate..................ah memories eh [:P]
  6. The end of my watch finally came, I was relieved by the next man, My, what you sailers get up to ????????????????  [;-)]
  7. Yes bellac, thanks for that, perhaps when i can read french well enough then all these postings that are made in French i will be able to read [:D] i know what to do, i'll put it in babelfish and read it then.......................
  8. Hi all, in reply to being stopped in UK registered cars, i have been pulled over twice and breathalysed one of the occasions whilst driving my UK car, mind you it was a Subaru Imprezza turbo and they heard me coming. They spent more time under the bonnet looking at the engine than paying attention to me blowing into their bag ( no wife jokes ), all passed without a hitch.
  9. Car or Camion  Neither, the French word for van is also fourgon, some people also class cars like the Berlingo as a fourgon... Hi ron, your answer puzzles me slightly, i was not asking if it is camion or car or even fourgon but more to do with the registration of a UK registered van. Thanks anyway for your input. Sunday driver, many thanks for your reply. Should i write to Citroen UK, they must have been original importers to UK, Hugh.
  10. Hi all, i have downloaded the drire form to register my UK van in France but it only mentions cars in their other forms, estate, hatch etc. Question is, is it the same form or is there another form i have to use, thanks in advance of any and all replies, hugh.
  11. Hi, i have voiced that very opinion here several times. Tried contacting ryanair about the same thing, there was talk about Edinburgh to Bergerac but that was all it was. I live in hope. I looked at the link with Beauvais to Prestwick but bit of a carry on getting connections from Bordeaux to Beauvais, least wise that is what i found unless someone can put me right????
  12. Well, I don't want to shay too much at thish preshent time but I really am a shecret agent, some of you may already have gueshed who I am by my Scottish accshent but I think shome of the people writing in this forum are imposhters.  Sho my advice  is take it all with a pinsh of shalt. No, it can't be, is it, is it really you, wow....i loved all your stuff on telly, a real big fan...............whadda you know folks, Gordon Brown ( slightly pissed ) right here on LF
  13. If the train you are going out to France on is nearly full and the train coming in the opposite direction from France is half empty, then ........... Then where do all the other cars go??? Do they never come back ?? [8-) Perhaps they are all left at limoges airport now that all bergerac is sorted   [:D]
  14. You get updates on the radio in Riberac, new west i think its called. Failing that then the English news you can pick up in Bergerac airport quite often has some news in it. No doubt someone here will also help out [:)]
  15. Hi, been in the building game since methusla was a lad and i have always seen tapers rub down to achieve a finish suitable for painting, the first coat has to be done well to enable the second coat to be a quick skim and light rub down. The secret i believe is to have a good wide coverage that allows the 1st coat enough room to feather out and the 2nd coat to basically even out any small blemishes, but still need a rub down with a sanding pole or such like. I am not a taper therefore my opinion is just that, an opinion, and in no way infers that i am right and others are wrong. I am a chippie and wish i had a penny/cent for every sheet of p/board i have put up in houses all over Scotland as well as here in France. Good luck to all that have a go, its very satisfying to do something outwith your normal remit and see it come good.
  16. Try vitrificateur, gives it a finish as hard as Maggie Thatcher [:D]
  17. Now steady on here and no laughing, i remember that all the old school desks, the ones with the inkwell in them, were made from beech and they seemed pretty durable then. They withstood numerous scrapings/carvings, chewing gum and the odd bit of slamming down ( teachers's way of having fun when you are kipping in the back row ) and they withstood the ravages of numerous years of general abuse, now that must be classed as durable !!! PS no ageist remarks pls [:)]
  18. Maybe they thought your roses were in need of nourishment, and rather than offer, they just left you a little board and lodging in the way of free fertilizer ??? Maybe it was a traveller with an old romany style caravan ??? Never heard of one here but you never know !!
  19. ??????????????????????????? wot, no plumbers or sparkies looking for work, amazing.
  20. Hi all, we are actively looking for a plumber and a sparky, must have siret, to aid us on some of our projects, not offering full time/contract just putting you in touch with our clients and you take it from there. 21. Typical of twinks to gain an advantage, on tap honey as and when, just hold out your toast in the morning and let it drizzle......mmmhh..... can almost taste it [6]
  22. I'm with you zeb on this one, i too think that i'm doing wrong somewhere. I go to UK every 2/3 months to visit family, shoot and do some fishing with mates, just back from 10 days shark fishing in Namibia ! I feel that too much work and no play makes someone a dull boy...............We come here for a better way of life, not to be slaves to the work regime we left behind, salut.
  23. Aha, is that an admittance of being a bigmouth or is it your secret weapon Chris ?[:P] Hope you all like my new avatar, that is my latest catch from my trip fishing in Namibia, a 160 kilo Bronzy failed the Namibian record by 16 kilo and took 4hrs 20 mins to tame.........now thats stamina, what do you reckon Twinks + JK
  24. Yes and if you are remember take care re splinters, you know how busy we joiners are, cant put out my council ciggy just to suck the poison out of your knee................then again [:D] ...........nah I'll buy a plaster instead
  25. For all woodworkers here on the forum i agree with you but lets not be kidded into thinking that we are supreme, i have came across a fair few numpty's who claim to be joiners and are in fact just wood butchers. And as far as puting things to rights i always remember a painter/decorator who dabbled in artistic plaster work/cornice's always quoting that ' the man in white puts it right ' and to the better part he is right. Either that i have worked with some very good P+D's and some poor carpenters. I also believe rightly or not that we all follow suit at some time and this includes reading drawings like plumbers and sparky's and doing the mundane 8 till 5 site work, certainly when you are asked to create something from its bare element, like a lump of oak to a finished article the client could barely see in his minds eye or creating a piece of art using welding rods and  a few nuts and bolts then you do as an artist have the right to pontificate. At the end of the day we all try our best and its only when we are judged by others that our frailties or expertise are to be shown, some have the necessary to be given accolades and some dont, thats life. However, if you are in it to rip people off then all you get is well deserved. Ah well, i'm tired and ready for bed, got a lot on tomorow, gotta sort out the world first then put to bed this global warming...oh yes and then there's these North Koreans tut tut, need a few words there and then i'll have to put on that skirting round the bedroom.........Its a hard life being a joiner [:P] Now listen guys, its just a bit of fun [:)]
