1. At various parts of the day our water pressure and the neighbours gets very low ( there is only a small flow, not enough to shower by) does anyone know if there is a minimum water pressure that the water company has to adhere to. I think in the UK it is about 1bar, our old neighbour says that Voila is a law unto themselves. This problem applies to both hot and cold water. During the night everything is ok. We used to get terrific pressure but when the supply pipes kept bursting along the road they tinkered with the pressure and its not been the same since. If there is a minimum we might be able to tackle the water company.
2.
I then found on their website a telephone number for 'English speaking customers' and called it. Guess what! All the instructions are of course in French!!, just what an 'English speaking customer' needs.
What you might try is ignore all the instructions you hear and just hold tight and don't press anything, you may then be put straight through to the English speakers. Works in the UK quite often for me when asked to press 1 then 2 etc. for UK companies.
3. Mr Grumpy may have had a faulty one, or the floppy is corrupted. The one I still have worked ok on an XP laptop.
4.

Have heard that by the end of 2012 the option to pay SANEF France using a English card debit or credit will end, These customers will get an option of signing up to the UK offshoot if you want to continue paying in sterling. Of course the monthly fee is higher then the French site.
The validity of my English credit card runs out this month so I emailed SANEF with the new date of validity (new card just received) and they updated my account so I'm now OK for another four years (I hope). Brian (again)
I know Brian they don't seem to know what they are doing. A couple of years ago we stopped at the SANEF shop near Amiems to exchange our old big doofer for a new smaller one ( battery getting to end of its life) The lady there said we could only get the new doofer if we paid via a French bank account, she also gave us a leaflet explaining the new rules about paying. After we showed her a copy of an e-mail from SANEF confirming our new UK credit card  number validity date she shut up and issued the new new doofer. We still have the SANEF doofer but haven't used it for a year or so. We got a new one from APRR as we were expecting SANEF to start cancelling the UK paid accounts and leaving us at a peage.  APRR  allowed us to pay with a UK card.  We are happy with this system and will continue with it while available
5. As I understand it your number is sent when you make a call, but to see who is phoning you ( shows their number) you have to ask your provider to turn it on and I think there is a charge for this.
6. Hi all, Thanks for the replies took a bit of a time for me to reply as we have to pop into the local Mc donalds to get the wifi connection, yes we are in France! Will try an area using Linseed oil and turps (thanks Sid) to see what it looks like. The staircase would I suppose be classed as rustic.
7. We have an oak staircase on the outside of our property, our neighbours say we should treat it with linseed oil thinned down with terps, i'm not sure this is needed any views appreciated. I am concerned that as oak is a hard wood the oil would not penetrate the wood. I can understand doing teak garden tables in fact we do ours with teak oil, even then it takes ages to dry. Comments?
8.
now I will be besieged with phone calls pushing me to accept the exceptional deals.
One thing you might consider is to give "another number" if you then take up their offer change your phone number on their system.
9. PD. Is this what you want? http://www.carbeo.com/
10. Mrs T I'm with you on this one, although there is a link shown to Amazon,  I have never seen them for sale in the Brico's Maybe you can get them sent over from the UK.
11.
It makes good bread but have never been able to get it to rise to the level of shop purchased bread.
Thanks for the info everyone, think I may have misled some folks. I don't now have the problem of door stops since I stopped using the bread machine. In fact the dough keeps trying to escape from the tin. It is more the tins aren't high enough to get the same height as commercial loaves. Will have a look at the bread-making book Claire, thanks.
12. Clair. Thanks for the reply, quantities were just what I am looking for. Gengulphus Also thanks will try and up the quantities you suggested if I have to tweek the amount. You username suggests you may be at Saint-Gengoux-le-national, not too far from us. We usually try and go to the night market nice atmosphere there. Idum Used to do it with a bread maker but had too many door stops. Now I do it the old way, mixed with a Kenwood Chef, (blow kneading by hand) allowing it to rise naturally same as you. It makes good bread but have never been able to get it to rise to the level of shop purchased bread. Patf. Also thanks Any more info on making more for future use
13. Been trying my hand at bread making over the past weeks. I  buy the flour at the local supermarket usually Aldi, I have been told the best bread flour is type 65 but as this is harder to get I have used type 55 with success (apparently this is the type baguettes are made of) Anyway today I was given a lump of active yeast from the baker to try out, now this is where the problem starts I am used to the dried sachets, how much of this lump do I use, I know you can't see the size of the lump but is there a normal figure, say 20 gram etc per UK size loaf? Also can this yeast be regenerated for further use, did read somewhere about adding a bit more flour and water to it and keeping it in the fridge.  Any info appreciated. Cheers
14.
though this may change after the erection is over.
Wooly, please explain?
15.
My enquirer has decided to come end of September when we can accomodate them. I'm a happy bunny.
Hope they can find you. (hit that dam top button again)
16. Plenty of time to sort it Theiere next race is not for a couple of weeks!! Edit. Just checked next race China. on BBC 1 live 13-15th april.  Even got longer now.
17. Pickles, Thanks for the info. I had a play in Currys one afternoon on a Tom Tom, when I switched it on it went through, "set miles per gallon , cost of fuel etc"  that is something I'm not in the least bit  interested in, all I want to do is find somewhere. My Navman asks me to confirm something (don't read it) then it does the same as your Garmin view map etc. Thanks
18. Coops or Pickles. You said on my earlier post about a silly Q/A session when it's first switched on each time. Can you give me an idea what they are. Have had a look at other makes but haven't made up my mind yet. Cheers
19.
.... and Simyo. Still,  with a bit of luck enough people have been conned,   have dumped,   and have learnt not to fall for it a second time.
Yes Martin that was me with NRJ.  When I heard of Lebara's first offer I did think how long before....... Makes you think French firms are a joke.
20. Looks like the Total France forum subscribers are next to be hit by the c0ckup. It is off  line.
21. On the reply to post screen there are two  "post and preview" buttons, one is over subject and the other is at the bottom. I have found if I click on the "post" button by the  subject line, it bounces back to the edit screen. by using the bottom button I can reply to a post.
22. Some forums allow you to scan through previous posts when replying to a post by using a slider on the side. Would make a useful addition if you want to refer to something posted a few posts back and can't remember the full story. (senior moments)
23.
I received a text from Lebara this morning saying they have changed their terms & conditions regarding top-up. So it seems they have gone the way of lots of other pay as you go phone offers. Looks like I will be dumping them after using my existing credit!
Well what a surprise.  Gone the same way as NRJ.
24.
. All I can spot is that only Vetel and Button went forward to the rail with the fizz and interacted with their teams, could be that?  Somebody who watched the French or Sky coverage may know more (not many of the latter, I reckon!)
Lewis was standing on his podium and his body language read " those buggers beat me again , I don't want to be here" He might be in a better mood next week, but if Jensen wins again then start  thinking of the Alonso incident a few years ago, might be a re-run. EDIT. why is the smilie at the top, what have I done wrong?
