  1. This is the note, in English on the impots web site concerning foreign income https://www.impots.gouv.fr/portail/international-particulier/questions/taxation-income-received-abroad This is the page of FAQ relating to foreign income https://www.impots.gouv.fr/portail/international/particulier You should be entering your gross salary so France can assess you on your worldwide income. You should also enter the amount of tax paid. I'm not sure but I think it should go in section 6 on 2047 and will also go in 8TK on 2042 as well as 1AG. You should read the 2047 notes https://www.impots.gouv.fr/portail/files/formulaires/2047/2020/2047_3039.pdf Section B crédit d’impôt égal au montant de l’impôt français (8TK) on page 2 to confirm. If you have your tax assessment for last year you should be able to log on to the tax system - you just need a couple of numbers from that form. I think you should probably be able to see your tax return details for last year? Did you look at https://www.gov.uk/tax-right-retire-abroad-return-to-uk and https://www.gov.uk/tax-uk-income-live-abroad/taxed-twice to retrieve the correct forms.
  2. I'm not sure it is any better, juast an alternative. In my case the two nearest post offices with automatic machines were about 10km away, one in the centre of town so there is also a parking problem and the other in a smaller town I don't often go through. My nearest post office is in a village about 2km away and I can walk there. It is also on the route get to most other places I go to. The processes are very similar for both a self-printed label and using the automat. It is just the label generation process is different. You still need to go to a guichet if you want a stamped confirmation of posting and you get that if you drop off a parcel which you have labelled at home. I suspect one of the main reasons for the automat is a significant number of people not longer have printers and they only use mobile phones and tablets. So there was a need for clear printed labels to help the return process. Mail order suppliers needed a way of organising returns. so automating the system, printing standard readable labels with all the information they want and giving them notice the package has been returned by the bar code scan is a sensible solution. And in Amazon's case that starts the refund process the same day as posting - just need to wait a week or so for the money to reach my bank account. Thinking back I think there was another option which may have involved the post delivery service so you could give it to the van when it passed. The posties have scanners for recorded delivery so presumably can also collect, if given advance warning?
  3. When I returned my package with the label I had printed, the bar code on the package was scanned. That confirmed Amazon were paying for the return (and I think Amazon should then start the refund process). There was a tear-off section which was stamped and given to me as proof of posting.

    Form 2041E

Log out of the tax system completely (and preferably clear your web browser cache). Logon again and go through the first few tax screens to get to the SELECTIONNEZ CI-DESSOUS LES RUBRIQUES QUE VOUS SOUHAITEZ FAIRE APPARAITRE screen. The DIVERS Comptes à l'étranger, reprise de réductions ou de crédit d'impôt is probably unticked (but that isn't showing the correct information!). If you click on Déclarations ANNEXES on that page you will see DIVERS Comptes à l'étranger is ticked. Untick it and go back to the previous screen. You should now be able to se 2041E is no longer there on the LHS.
  5. I now remember that option of going to a post office with a machine which printed out the return docket. I checked on the La Poste web site and there were no post offices near me with a machine. So I opted to print my own and take the parcel to my local post office. I hope you find one not too far away. Another option might be to cancel the return and restart the return process, although never having done that I'm not sure it would work? I've just done a search and found this page which might help finding one (it wasn't the page I found from a link on Amazon)? https://datanova.laposte.fr/explore/dataset/laposte_autompre/information/?disjunctive.code_postal&disjunctive.localite&disjunctive.code_insee&disjunctive.libelle_du_type_d_automate&disjunctive.type_de_distributeur_dab This is a short URL for that page https://tinyurl.com/yb9p7s79 https://aide.laposte.fr/contenu/comment-imprimer-mon-bordereau-colissimo-depuis-un-automate/
  6. I've just returned a package to Amazon FR. Once the return had been approved I was given a choice of methods of return which I think included giving it to a relais colis d’Amazon or posting it. I suspect what needs to be printed off depends on the method of return. As I'd opted to return by post, I had an e-mail with a link to two A4 pages, which included a label to print and stick on the package, a bar code to put in the package, and instructions. Didn't the e-mail with the bar code contain any further instructions? https://se-faire-rembourser.fr/retourner-commande-amazon/
  7. Here is a Zoe forum item from 2015 which includes instructions on how to make the change http://myrenaultzoe.com/index.php/topic/switching-speedometer-from-miles-to-kilometres-any-ideas/ Whether is works on new models isn't mentioned.
  8. The problem with Jerusalem artichokes is they aren't prepared correctly so remain "fartichokes". They contain a lot of inulin which needs to be broken down into the sugar fructose outside your gut! The usual method of reducing the amount of inulin is to use an acid such as lemon juice or vinegar when boiling them whole for 15 minutes and then roasting them. We just slice them, put them in a pan with a little water and lemon juice, garlic and plenty of butter, leave them to cook slowly for about 30 mins. as the water boils away and then serve then as they are or add cream/milk and mash.
  9. Nothing wrong with topinambours (Jerusalem artichokes) at all. We grow them and usually just roast them in butter with garlic or as soup ingredient. They can be rather invasive plants with long roots and they seem to be able to grow from just about any part of a tuber left in the ground. Ours must be an old variety as they are very knobbly and nothing like the smooth tubers you see in shops nowadays. They were here when we bought the house so probably a left-over from the war which the old owners then used to feed their animals. I must admit when we first arrived the older locals wouldn't eat them because of the wartime associations. I've even been served them as part of a dessert in both Danish and English starred restaurants, once with pear, vanilla ice cream and thyme and the other as a sorbet with chocolate and hazelnuts.
  10. 3916 doesn't generate any tax demand. It is just a means of documenting all your foreign accounts which you can put money in and take money out of, so not the common misinterpretation of just banks, so they can check whether you are reporting income, etc. correctly and also not involved in money laundering. It isn't just for active accounts either. You need to report dormant accounts and those closed during the year. The notes which go with 3916 give more information, but it is rather general. As it is meant for those from any country worldwide there is nothing very specific on types of account. https://www.impots.gouv.fr/portail/formulaire/3916/declaration-par-un-resident-dun-compte-ouvert-hors-de-france Those financial institutions have to report details of accounts to the relevant tax authorities, which is why you are now asked questions about residence and tax codes.
  11. You should be reporting online but, if you still plan to do it on paper, they simplified the 2042 tax form this year as a result of the implementation of PAYE. Various boxes were moved to supplementary forms. 8TK is now on 2042C You can download it from https://www.impots.gouv.fr/portail/files/formulaires/2047/2020/2047_3039.pdf You also ought to download the Notes (and in doing the downloads you will demonstrate you have an online connection!) Regarding 2047, you should download the notes https://www.impots.gouv.fr/portail/formulaire/2047/declaration-des-revenus-encaisses-letranger which tell you how to declare your UK salary on 2042 once you have filled in Section 1 (10) by consulting Cadre 1:!0 in the Notes. You are correct about ISA savings interest (but you don't need to declare gains for a stocks and shares ISA.) Don't forget you fill in 3916 with ISA and other savings/personal pension/life insurance accounts, etc. along with your bank account. If they have your address they will be reporting account details to France. I don't know anything about 2044 but the notes https://www.impots.gouv.fr/portail/files/formulaires/2044/2020/2044_3022.pdf do seem you need to complete it if the income is over €15K. Someone else here can probably help? For HMRC you need to look at https://www.gov.uk/tax-right-retire-abroad-return-to-uk and https://www.gov.uk/tax-uk-income-live-abroad/taxed-twice to retrieve the correct forms.
  12. Have you ticked DIVERS: Comptes à l'étranger, reprise de réductions ou de crédit d'impôt on about p6 DÉCLARATION DE REVENUS after the general details and before you get to 2042 online? This is a good general guide for completing the tax return online and the order in which the pages should be completed http://bh-assurances.fr/wp-content/uploads/2020/04/HOW-TO-DECLARE-YOUR-TAX-ONLINE.pdf You may end up with the 2041E problem is you have an S1 and tick 8SH/8SI It is a bug in the system. Just go back to DÉCLARATION DE REVENUS "Déclarations ANNEXES” at the start and untick it. If it is already unticked, click it, come out of your online account completely, come back to it and go back to “annexes” and deselect (untick) form 2041.
  13. They are greyed out because there has been nothing to report by the pension provider. If you were French the pensions would have been reported automatically to the tax office and those boxes would contain the correct pension figure. Now many French no longer need to complete the tax forms as all their earned and unearned income will have been reported automatically by employees, banks, etc. and their tax will have already been deducted at source. https://www.impots.gouv.fr/portail/www2/minisite/declaration/declaration_automatique.html?

But you need to declare the associated banks, building societies, neo-banks e.g. Monzo, Revolut, Starling, etc.
  15. PaulT: Have you asked at your mairie whether they have any information on you getting a higher speed connection? The government originally was originally planning for everyone to have at least >8 Mbit/s by the end of this year by wire or by wireless with a grant of up to 150€ for wireless equipment, if needed https://www.economie.gouv.fr/particuliers/cohesion-numerique-territoires-aide-linstallation-haut-debit This is the broadband coverage i your area https://www.zoneadsl.com/couverture/haute-garonne/boulogne-sur-gesse-31350.html

    Form 2041E

suein56: OK, I now understand. When I went back to the SELECTIONNEZ CI-DESSOUS LES RUBRIQUES QUE VOUS SOUHAITEZ FAIRE APPARAITRE page the DIVERS Comptes à l'étranger, reprise de réductions ou de crédit d'impôt was unticked. It was only when i clicked on Déclarations ANNEXES I saw it was ticked. So I unticked it on that page and all is now OK and 8SH is also ticked. The 2041E I had completed has disappeared. No reply from the tax office yet.
  17. I tried Bouygues 4G a couple of years ago when the promised fibre seemed to be drifting further into the future. It was good, when it worked. But I found the speed very variable and in the evening that dropped significantly and intermittent loss of signal. I cancelled after three months. Perhaps things have now improved now? PaulT: I assume you are aware you will be a lot more restricted in your visits in the future? You will only be able to spend 90 days in every 180 days in the Schengen area as a whole without paying for a long-stay visa.

    Form 2041E

suein56: what have you done instead of ticking 8SH to declare you had an S1 so didn't have to pay CSG/CRDS? Have you written a note instead as was done in past years? I just completed 2041E with a pension of zero and got to the end although I also got a couple of warning messages. But I think I could have signed my declaration as they weren't blocking. However I didn't but instead I submitted a query to the tax office asking them how I should deal with the problem. I'm still waiting for a reply but there is still time.
  19. Amazon started to reopen the French warehouses gradually starting from 19 May. The plan is to have them all back to normal on 3 June. https://www.boursier.com/actions/actualites/economie/amazon-france-les-entrepots-rouvrent-partiellement-ce-mardi-43929.html
  20. They have been delivering items all the time but many came from non-French depots. If they are available for shipping they show as such on the Amazon FR web site and give a delivery time. I received a lens adapter ring, sold by a company where Amazon does the delivery, which was ordered on 20th. The delivery was listed as 26th but arrived on 23rd. They were ordered with Prime. Unfortunately it did not work and I printed a return label the next day. Now waiting to go to the post office - but I have until July.
  21. Make sure you have also declared the names and numbers of accounts, etc. on 3916. The bank interest and NSI information needs to go on 2047 which has calculations which then need to be copied back to 2042. If you are completing online, you need to jump from 2042 to 2047 as soon as you can after the first few screens as the information from 2047 is automatically transferred back to 2042 once you get to the end of 2047. I don't know if it is still the case but in the past, if you didn't do things that way it was possible to put data on 2042 and after completing 2047 the figures from that were copied back to 2042 which doubled the mounts being declared! The bank interest and NSI goes on line 233 and add the total to the box on the right. As they are now paid gross, you put 0 in line 234 so 235 is the same as 233. Ignore 236 and 237. Total down to 238 and then to 252. The figure in 252 is the figure which will be copied back to 2TR on 2042. Online, keep going through the 2047 pages until the page where you say yes to "report"/automatically transfer the figures back to 2042. You should to tick 8UU on 2042 which, when online, will bring up 3916 otherwise you need to download and complete that separately. There is also 2OP on 2042 which will mean the interest is taxed at your highest band rather than the (usually higher) flat rate From the 2042 notes Plus-values et gains divers Les plus-values de cession de valeurs mobilières réalisées depuis le 1er janvier 2018 sont soumises au PFU de 12,8% (auquel s’ajoutent les prélèvements sociaux de 17,2%). Cependant, en cochant la case 2OP, vous optez pour une imposition globale de ces gains et de vos revenus mobiliers au barème progressif de l’impôt sur le revenu (auquel s’ajoutent les prélèvements sociaux).
  22. The norm now allows up to eight ordinary room sockets wired with 1.5mm (or twelve with 2.5mm) but the sockets with 1.5mm must have a 16A circuit breaker rather than 20A. As this is an existing circuit I assume it has a 20A breaker. Is CeeJay going to go to the expense of replacing that by a 16A breaker and the possible impact on other the use of other sockets on the circuit? What happens at some time in the future when someone has forgotten this socket only has 1.5mm wire and is still on a 20A circuit breaker and decided to use it for a high power device? Is CeeJay going to stick a warning label on it? The reason for linking to the current norm was to show what is now thought to be best practise. There have been many different norms in the past. Is it really a good idea to go back to an old one rather than try to get as near to the prevailing norm - which was presumable introduced for very good reasons? Is it worth saving a few euro? You don't need to go to the expense of buying full reels of 2.5mm cable. It would be possible to get a short length of 2.5mm insulated cable wire it in a new duct.
  23. No. I doubt your insurance company would approve either. These are the current regulations for a new installation https://schema-electrique.net/schema-circuit-electrique-installation-alimentation-four-lave-vaisselle-lave-linge-plaque-cuisson-congelateur.html
  24. It looks as though you declare it in the second part of Section 7 on 2047 REVENUS IMPOSABLES OUVRANT DROIT À UN CRÉDIT D’IMPÔT ÉGAL À L’IMPÔT ÉTRANGER and put Pension under the heading AUTRES REVENUS and the figures are then transferred back to 8VM etc on 2042.
