2.
OK, so what language is there an 'h' in Reims? I don't think I have ever seen Reims spelt any other way.
French - a long time ago (if my translation is good :-) ) French Wikipedia says; "Reims [ʀɛ̃s] (orthographe ancienne : Rheims), appelée « la cité des sacres » ou « la cité des rois », est une commune française située dans le département de la Marne et la région Champagne-Ardenne." http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reims

 5.
I thought advertising was banned on this forum!
John Selden's Table-Talk (c. 1654): " 'Do as I say, not as I do.'"
 6. Perhaps, to keep it simple, you should refer back to the OP's actual question? "However, she says that under new UK rules it is not possible to import a car older than 10 years into the UK, and she sites the UK government web site."
 7. The regulations are there to cover all cases. Are not all regulations about semantics? You are assuming because it has been registered in the UK before, it is not applicable to call it an import. I am assuming that because you can import a 10 year old LHD car you can import a 10 year old RHD one. No where in the document does it confirm either case (as far as I have read)
 8.
Does anyone know where exactly it is produced ?
CHAMBORD LIQUEUR ROYALE DE FRANCE R & J LIQUEURS Chateau de la Sistiere 41700 COUR CHEVERNY
 9.
The link given clearly appertains to foreign cars being imported to UK for the first time.
May be, but are you saying you can import an over 10 year old LHD, but not an RHD?
 10. From http://www.dft.gov.uk/vca/other/faqs-vehicle-importi.asp " What are the most common problems I am likely to encounter when trying to import a vehicle? If your vehicle is left hand drive, it will need to be modified for use in the UK since we drive on the other side of the road to the Continent. This is likely to include; changing the headlamps for ones designed for use in Great Britain, the fitting of a rear fog lamp on the off-side (right hand side) of the vehicle, modification of the speedometer with a new face to include miles-per-hour markings. For vehicles from North America the lighting will need some modifications since different coloured lights to Europe are often used. If the vehicle is less than 10 years old, then the above modifications will need to be performed either as part of the Mutual Recognition process (see above) or before the vehicle undergoes SVA testing (see below), as applicable. If the vehicle is more than 10 years old the modifications are needed before the vehicle undergoes the MOT."So it looks like you're correct then :-)

 15.
The UK licensing authority certainly do maintain regular contract, we kept declaring that we had no TV and we continued to receive a neverending stream of threatening and offensive letters which more or less said that they did not believe us and the only way to escape prosecution was, buy a licence. They seem to think it is illegal not to have a TV. The van said TV Licensing all over it and had aerials and stuff on the roof. It's entirely possible that there is no equipment inside and they were just trying to scare us into getting a licence. Basically they are bullies.
That' probably because it is not a 'proper' government department. The system is outsourced to Capita, who, from contact with fellow comtractors in a previous life, are not exactly the best company in the world to work for. I had similar problems when we gave up the TV. In the end I had a visit from one of there 'agents'. He said that if he believed I had a TV in the house he could get a warrant and return accompanied by a police person and search my property. In a city of 250,000 with only 7 police on duty at any one time I thought this doubtful and declined his offer. He did not return.
 16.
In the UK they are a reality.
Yes, Maybe, but have a read of this from Wikipedia; TV detector vans have in the past featured heavily in TV Licensing publicity, implying that secret technology capable of detecting signals from operating TV sets is employed,[51] and TV Licensing has claimed to have developed a hand-held detector.[52] The BBC states that such technology used in conjunction with targeted advertising acts as a deterrent: its use may make it easier for TV Licensing agents to establish that an offence is likely to be taking place but they would still need to secure further evidence for successful prosecution.[53][54] Furthermore, such technology is restricted in its use by the meaning of "surveillance and covert human intelligence sources" in the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act 2000[52] and the Regulation of Investigatory Powers (British Broadcasting Corporation) Order 2001.[55][56] TV Licensing now states "We will only use detection equipment to identify evaders when other, more cost effective, routes have been exhausted",[5] and the BBC has stated that "Detection technology is generally used to obtain search warrants".[53] No data from technology claimed to detect television signals has ever been used as court evidence and the existence of such devices is generally thought to be unlikely. The critical method of detecting evaders is through the use of a database system known as LASSY,[54] which contains 29.5 million[52] addresses in the UK. This database is routinely updated with licence details and with details submitted by dealers in television receiving equipment, all of whom are required by law to provide TV Licensing with identifying information about everyone who buys or rents such equipment.[57] TV Licensing maintains permanent contact with every address in the database that is recorded as not having a TV licence.[58] The initial contact with occupants of addresses for which there is no current licence is by letter. During the year 2005-6, approximately 23.5 million "standard warning" letters were sent.[59] The methods by which an occupant can reply are in writing, by telephone or by filling in an online form [3]. If a business or household is not obliged to have a TV licence then TV Licensing will request written confirmation of this, even though no such information is required to be given in law.[15][60]
 17.
when I copy and paste the IMG code to the forum the code is posted but not the photo, any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
your code should look something like this [/IMG]http://i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu210/alexh01/CranesMarch2011006.jpg[/IMG] The IMG at the beginning should not have the '/' (I had to put it in,so you can see the code) and the picture will be like this By the way Russethouse  there is no need to do anything else - it works as above :-)  (PC, Firefox)
 18. You only need to cut and paste the location with IMG at the front and /IMG at the end :-)   (in square brackets - I have to take them out, otherwise you won't see what I'm telling you) So what you need is this  http://www.parissetmefree.com/images/misc/q_400.jpg with [/IMG] at the front without the / and [/IMG] at the end with the / and you get this
Vista, ha gave it a complete miss
indeed, fortunately my experience so far has been to miss every second version of windows, so no ME or Vista :-) I am still on XP however as it wants a chunky big disk for my laptop and appears not to run half the applications I use.
