  1. Very sad. His name was Dan Wheldon. At least take the time to get his name right. Marcardis
  2. Unfortunately you will not get a refund. You should have read the long thread regarding this on another Forum before it was removed. Nicki Wade never had any intention of refunding any subscribers payments, which had already been used to fund a 'living the dream' lifestyle. The companies registered office was also a hotel. A complete scam. If you want to know more then drop me a PM. Kind regards, Marcardis
  3. Clicking on 'ici' takes you to the general Orange site. Logging in takes you to the secure Orange site. They do not want people paying by cheque. Where is the scam?! What address did the email come from? Marcardis
  4. Lots of misinformation! "Very true I'm afraid, at least where the USA is concerned, and that's been the case since the end of 2005 where all cell phone carriers were required to provide the ability to trace cell phone calls to a location within 100 meters or less." FCC regulations required that from the end of 2005 locations could be tracked on 911 emergency calls - not on all calls. "Whether it's true or not I repeat location is NOT by GPS." As AnOther rightly states the technology used above is nothing to do with the phone GPS technology for navigation, etc. "Curious!how does this http://www.themobiletracker.com/french/index.html use GPS? 10 metres impressive." Did you believe this?! "Technology is changing with top of the range SatNav units now containing a sim card, which enable both Tx & Rx so theoretically, tracking is possible. On the question of Apple collecting location information from iPhone / iPad users, you may wish to visit the following page; http://petewarden.github.com/iPhoneTracker/ " How surprising - Warden was behind all the Guardian article that started all this nonsense - good publicity. If you read the article it states that the data is only shared between the device and the PC that it is synced with. This thread has certainly drifted away from the original question and sadly Cooperlola has not come back to explain why iTunes is so 'truly dreadful' or what file formats it will not play! Marcardis
  5. "I mean, since 9/11 (or shortly after) all phones have had GPS built in and can be tracked although it does require the tracking to be activated (remotely by government agencies if need be)" Not true. "By the way my Zen 32gb mp3 player thing cost just over £50 (as opposed to £170 for an Ipod with the same storage) and comes with a radio transmitter so I can listen to it in the car but then so does my Nokia phone. Also there is none of this security stuff on the Zen so I can move music around at random from one machine to another." Which model Zen 32gb can you buy for that price? Security stuff? Marcardis
  6. It's a quiet news day today in the UK so good for a sensational, if  inaccurate story. Data on the iPhone is only synced to the pc that it is connected to. The data is not sent to Apple. Every time you turn your mobile phone on your movements an be tracked. Of course this 'news' would be nothing to do with people promoting their services: http://petewarden.github.com/iPhoneTracker/ iPhone Spy cannot be installed on a standard iPhone or iPad. What is the name of this Trojan that can record keystrokes on an iPhone or iPad. Overpriced compared to what? I have a 32gb iPod touch - what would be a cheaper alternative with the same or better spec. Marcardis
  7. If you have an iPod you are free to use a range of other PC based software to manage your music, etc, rather than iTunes. In what way is iTunes truly dreadful? What file formats do you want to play that iTunes/iPod cannot handle. I am really no fan of Apple as a company and do not like the fact that I cannot change the battery on my iPod Touch myself or put in different memory cards. But with other apps on the iPod it is a pretty good way of listening to my music collection via wireless around the house and garden. In the house I have Logitech Squeezebox Server running on the PC and a Squeezebox Radio in the kitchen – with the iPeng app on the iPod I can listen to all of my iTunes library on the PC anywhere within wireless range and control the Radio from the iPod. And I also have e-books- great for boring flights, and the complete IGN large scale map library on my iPod – great for walking trips! Marcardis
  8. The Brennan JB7 is a dog. A very high price for a box with a very small hard disk and a lousy user interface. The music database (which you have to pay to update) is very limited and all but useless for classical music. You also need an external hard disk to maintain a backup of your music. A decent PC, iTunes and a SqueezeBox setup would give you far more versatility. A SqueezeBox Radio with battery pack lets you take your music outdoors. Marcardis
  9. “I dared to express the opinion to an old friend that I thought Clapton seemed lazy and boring on Jools Holland a little while ago. He (the friend) has not spoken to me since. He clearly still believes Clapton is God. “ Lazy and boring sums up Clapton pretty well. He has forgotten his “real” roots and has now become the “superstar blues guitarist”. To give a couple of comparisons: My son, now 16, is a keen guitar player with his Les Paul (replica!). In August 2007 we travelled to Monpazier in the Dordogne to see John Mayall play a very rare concert in France. Both John Mayall and Buddy Whittington took time to talk to my son before the concert and have their pictures taken with him. In November 2008 we went to Cléon to see Stan Webb doing his only concert in France – again Stan, Jim Rudge, Gary Davies and Mick Jones all took time to talk to us and sign all my son's Stan Webb and Chickenshack CD liners. I cannot imagine that you would get past Clapton's security entourage and talk to the “great man”. John Mayall, Stan Webb, etc remember their roots and their fans. They both have many disparaging comments about Clapton and his “mission to save the blues”. This Christmas I asked my son what he would really like to do for a big event this year – his reply – go to the UK and see Gary Moore, as he never comes to France. We are a year too late. For anyone who wants to try to capture some of the magic of Gary Moore – 3 DVD's: Gary Moore – Live at Montreaux 1990 – 2001 – Eagle-Vision EREDV635 Gary Moore – Live at Monsters of Rock – 2003 – Sanctuary Records SVEM 0236 A superb DVD with Cass Lewis (ex Skunk Anansie) on bass and Darrin Mooney (ex Primal Scream) on drums. And the best – Gary Moore and Friends – One Night in Dublin – A Tribute to Phil Lynott – Eagle Vision EREDV559. With Brian Robertson, Eric Bell, Brian Downey, Scott Gorham and Jonathan Noyce (ex Jethro Tull) on bass. On a big screen with the audio through a decent sound system they are all stunning. I understand that there is a new DVD in preparation of Gary at Montreux 2010 – should be worth waiting for. Marcardis
  10. Once again, BBC 4 have rehashed material that has been available for several years on DVD. The Peter Green Story – Man of the World – Scanbox SCBX 9291 2,5 Hours with the extra material and without the annoying BBC 4 logo in the corner of the screen – why do they do this. If anyone is in need of an 'illegal' download then PM me. A link to the sad news this weekend that Gary Moore had passed away – Peter Green gave Gary his original Les Paul – where will that go now. Not sure about Gary being 'as good as Eric Clapton' Gary's playing was light years away from Clapton's plodding playing – very good technically but as boring as hell. Still cannot believe that Gary has gone. Marcardis
  11. Your link is to fittings for basins. Lapeyre do both floor or wall mounted fittings for these types of baths. http://www.lapeyre.fr/la-salle-de-bains/la-robinetterie/robinetterie-pour-le-bain/mitigeurs-et-melangeurs-de-baignoire/kit-alimentation-par-le-sol-retro.html The tap fitting prices are below the picture of the bath. I have fitted the floor standing model and it is of a very high quality. You will also need the waste kit plus chrome siphon/pipes, etc. Marcardis
  12. The collar on the top/back of the stove is a female fitting. The rigid flue pipe MUST fit inside this not over it. Hopefully your architect is better informed on other building issues! Marcardis
  13. Your T piece is fitted upside down. All pipe joints MUST be female up. With the rigid pipe this way up there is no safe way of attaching a flexible pipe above the register plate. Marcardis
  14. I would endorse the recommendation of the Triton 1/2" router. Superb piece of kit - way ahead of DeWalt, Bosch, Makita, etc. Used in conjuction with the Triton Router Table - unbeatable! Available from Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Triton-1-2-inch-Precision-Router/dp/B002QRUG04 Regards, Marcardis
  15. “Lapeyre costs seem pretty high to me. To quote a friend I would prefer to remove my own appendix using a bottle of vodka for both annesthesia and antiseptic than buy from them. Run Vialle Menuseria on Google for another price.” High compared to what? Lapeyre's cost for a 215 x 180 3 vantaux porte-fenetre is 485€. Vial Menuiseries price is 479€ Lapeyre offer a further 15% discount for three windows/doors or more ordered. Marcardis
  16. "Are your power tools 110v? if so make up a power lead with a decent outdoor (rubber plug) French onto a 240v three pin socket from the UK. Obviously taking your 110v transformer with you. Nothing funny about UK plugs, locally fused and a bloody sight better than pathetic french ones. Localised fusing is always safer than hoping good conections exist back through many metres of cable several boite de derivations and chock block connectors. Start pulling 2.400 watts (my scie circulaire and router and watch the french plugs get hot) Edited due to the effect of medication!" You are obviously able to change your original misleading posting. My 'portable' workshop runs a Makita 5143R saw, a Makita 2300 router, Makita 1806 planer  and a Makita 445 portable extractor all running through French 'moulded on' plugs The extractor and either the saw, router or planer run at the same time. Plus onsite lighting, stereo, etc. The French plugs do not get hot - where do you get this nonsense from? If your plugs are getting hot then you have a problem with your wiring installation, which is nothing to do with French plugs. Fairly daft to rely on a fuse in a plug when there could be a more major problem further on. Regards, Marcardis
  17. "Are your power tools 110v? if so make up a power lead with a decent outdoor (rubber plug) French onto a 110v three pin socket from the UK. Nothing funny about UK plugs, locally fused and a bloody sight better than pathetic french ones." Slightly confusing advice. Why would his tools be 110v in the UK unless he is a contractor and has the required transformers, etc. In the event that the hand tools were 110v and he followed your advice to make up a power lead, what is he going to plug it into in France - a transformer would be needed. How exactly are UK plugs better than French ones and what is the advantage of the fuse in the plug? With respect to power loadings, papachapa and tonyv have offered more helpful advice. Personally, when we moved to France, I replaced all the UK plugs on my power tools with Legrand rubber plugs and for 'pathetic French ones" they are still fine after 11 years. Regards, Marcardis
  18. I know you can pause and stuff through the headphone lead. Can you select an particular album to play? A particular relaxing track? Do you have a screen to see what it is you're looking for? No. To me that's not being in control. So amazon fr have a good deal - sale price is discounted from 380 euro for the 64g touch, amazon UK is not at a sale price. Under normal pricing structures that means in France it's nearly a hundred quid dearer. Go into Darty or Carrefour and you'll pay 360-400. At HMV stores they are £306 and usually include a £25 itunes voucher. So I maintain, under normal pricing structures, iPods are, like lots of things, more expensive in France. JEEP = Just Empty Every Pocket http://www.cardomain.com/ride/400080 As already suggested for the iPod Shuffle, use playlists, obviously it does not have have a screen – most people that buy it would probably notice this. How do you arrive at the fact that the iPod Touch 64gb is nearly a “hundred quid” dearer in France? HMV's online price is £306 but not available. At an optimistic online exchange rate of 1,12 this would equate to 342€ plus delivery. As of this evening there are a number of other French online suppliers in addition to Amazon France who have this model in stock for the same price. Anyone in France wishing to buy an iPod is probably unlikely to go to Carrefour or Darty. In the event that they did, the Carrefour is selling the iPod Touch 64gb for 399€ - £356 at the above rate. Where does your “hundred quid” come from? What are 'normal pricing structures'? Regards, Marcardis
  19. "Well now there is a wide choice available to you. For sound quality and macbook connectivity I reckon I'd stick to an iPod. Widely available from the likes of Darty / Carrefour etc. iPod nano would possible suit you well as it's small and light and you can select which music volume you wish to listen to. iPod shuffle is seriously small but you have no control over what you listen to - just set it off and listen to a shuffled mix of everything that is loaded. iPod touch (what I have) is a truly remarkable machine capable of wifi - email - internet access and much much more but probably more than you need. one tip - if possible buy from UK (Amazon??) as they seem to be (like just about everything else) ridiculously expensive in France." Slightly misleading. With the iPod Shuffle you can play, pause and move through tracks using the controls on the headphone lead. You can also create playlists and change these using VoiceOver. I have just bought a new iPod Touch 64gb from Amazon France for 320 Euros with free delivery. Amazon UK's price tonight is £273,89 plus £5,30 delivery to France. How do you reach the conclusion that iPods are ridiculously expensive in France? Regards, Marcardis
  20. Following my last reply to you and your subsequent PM - your problems are caused by opening attachments. Even if you received an email with a virus in an attachment, your pc could not be corrupted and data read unless you opened the attachment. I feel that you are labouring the point here and should take the advice that other people are giving you. You seem to have a problem with Avast - for most people it works well. Buy a copy of Mailwasher, http://www.firetrust.com/products/mailwasher-pro, and you can then read all your incoming emails on your ISP's server before they ever reach your pc. Regards, Marcardis
  21. Take the time to do some serious research. Stopzilla is 'scareware' software that  will find 'problems' that do not exist in order to sell their software. Even the free version of Avast is reliable if used sensibly. Your problem was caused by opening an attachment to a message that was not addressed to you. Possibly a clue there. As others have said, use Mailwasher - you can then read your emails before downloading them to your pc. Marcardis
