cooperlola
Your local tax office will give you the forms any time, but they're more co-operative in the early part of the year. The deadline for completing them will be some time in May - the exact date is usually much discussed on here once it is known!

marieloona
if you're completing your first ever french tax return good luck! tax return completion in france is like a national sport. Every family has there family expert and each year some of the magazine publishers issue mini books on how to complete your return. If you read French these can be very helpful. If you don't, I would suggest using an English speaking accountant to help you. They cost a few hundred Euro maximum (nothing like the UK!!) but at least you have an example and its one less thing to worry about. After all, you don't want to be paying too much tax or get the return wrong!
Sunday Driver
PucaUnless your financial affairs are in any way complex, completing your French tax declaration is quite straightforward. The 2008 forms will be available in April and as a 'newbie', you will have to collect them from your local tax office. Once you're in the tax system, they'll post the forms to you for subsequent years.Completion is just a matter of entering amounts in the relevent boxes, signing the form and sending it off in the post. Nothing daunting.
Bluebells
Last year, I downloaded all my forms from the French Impot website so there's an alternative for you.
Bernice
Your local tax office will help you if you are unsure what goes where on the form - take along all the relevant paperwork, bank info, pensions, etc . I did this for my first declaration.Bernice
Benjamin
Last year, I downloaded all my forms from the French Impot website so there's an alternative for you.
As a first year declarer you cannot do this as you will not have your fiscal reference numbers. Sunday Driver
If you are a first timer, you can certainly download the blank forms and complete them manually. What you can't do is complete the declaration on-line without your fiscale numbers.
sueyh
We have been waiting for UK Inland Revenue to finish sorting out taxation on a property in UK. (Guess what! they lost our paperwork!!). We arrived in France last October 2006 - are we going to have a problem? We are going along on Tuesday. Many thanks.Suey
Sunday Driver
If you arrived in France in October 2006, then you should have completed a tax declaration in May 2007 covering the period October to December 2006. The delay in sorting the UK side of your tax affairs is a matter between you and the UK tax authorities and does not affect your obligations to declare on time in France. If you explain things to your local French tax office, they will sort things out for you and you are unlikely to be penalised.
sueyh
Good morning Sunday Driver, thanks for your swift response. What exactly do we need to take along to the tax office. We are taking a friend who speaks excellent french - so that may help.Sueyps why aren't you out "Driving"
Sunday Driver
You don't really need to take anything to the tax office. Just explain the reason for the delay and ask them for the appropriate tax forms. Take them home, fill them in (your French speaking friend can help with any translation), then sign them and post them off.PM me if you need any help on how to complete the forms. ps it's bloody cold here and it's raining.....
