  1. Exactly Ladoix Addecco or Crit Interim if you want to find work in France as the employers will not take you on to their books because of the costistations.Although the work is temp but if you are good at what you do then the company will keep you as long as there is plenty of work but when it gets quiet you are the first to go but fom my experience it can last along time and then move onto some where else where there is work and do the same over again and always be in work .I have had 2 phone calls this week from Crit  as I have registered with every office within 25 km of my village to start work.
  2. Yes Millie I have had many times been there and they they are really helpful. I came here almost 3 years ago from Ireland and tryed to find work thru Pole d'Emploi but was unsucessful as a welder but I was able to find work no problem with Crit Interim which are based all over France but after I was able to work for a year or more and the contract finished  I was able to avail of the services of Pole d'Emploi and done most of it on there web site. Althought at times I have been out of work max 4 months in the last 2 years I was able to receive what payments I was due. To look for work Crit Interim was the best option . If you wish you can pm me if you require more information as it would take so long to explain here and now . Good luck with Pole d'Emploi as they are very helpful and have plenty of patience

  8. OH I for got, I am erecting steel buildings and sheeting them.
  9. I live in Centre region,Indre (36) to be exact which I have been told is one of the difficult areas to find work as It is a rural area. So far I have completed 3 weeks and all is great, all the guys are helpful and the Boss very understanding. My French language is improving each day and it is a lot  more pleasurable to be living in France. So as I said before anyone looking to work "just go for it."
  10. Hi Folks This is just a good news story for anyone discouraged looking for work in France. First of all I am not and I mean not a fluent  French speaker,I came here from Ireland in March 2007 to do a renovation and have most of it complete,so I decided to look for work as I am one of those people who has an E106. First I went to assedic and got an interview after that straight to anpe. At the anpe the person there who was very helpful printed out some jobs which were local (ie within 40km from were I live). As by chance there was a vacancy10km from my home so rather than phone for an interview i appeared at the site and spoke to the boss face to face with my pigeon French,he said he would call me later,so I walked out thinking well thats it. That evening got the call start on Monday. All I can say is I have read this forum for the past 2 years and was discouraged by the way some people beat themselves up or who are just looking to make a living in France. All I can say is get out there, there is work to be had if you just over come your lack of language and the proper authorities are ther to help.   Good hunting .
  11. many thanks for a quick response and very helpful. much appreciated
  12. I have just a quick inquiry.I have been living in France (resident ) since 4th march 2007. When do I fill out my first tax return. many thanks.
  13. I have been living here for 7 months, when I arrived,I passed on my e106 to the cpam and received my carte vitale very quickly. What I need to know do I need to get another e106 for the second year or what happens or does the carte vitale expire or does cpam update it. I just need to know what I have to do. I think the carte vitale is ok until December. I would be grateful for some advice. Many thanks M.Kelly
  14. Tony many thanks for your reply,I will after  a period of time and  finishing my renovation I will go back to work either for my self or for another company here in France.
  15. Hi all you good people with French living advice. I need some advice on this terrible subject of Tax (what a burden ).I am now living in France now for 6 months,my wife still live's in Northern Ireland(UK)I think  possibly, I have to do a tax form in January. My question is this ?I am now French resident,I am not working and live from savings,my wife lives in the UK but visits here when she can come over ( so far for 3 weeks ) and receives  a small private pension .We also have savings in the UK which we expect the interest will allow us to keep ourselves . What we gain on her pension and the interest is enough to live on  "entre le deux"other than that we have no other income. So the question is this?as we do not earn can we claim the tax back on the interest we pay on our savings and also as it does not break any tax threshhold,I think there is no tax for me to pay here also. All replys are greatfully accepted with the best advice as this is going to be my first tax form return and i am not looking forward to it . many thanks .
