Fred Dibnah permanently in the sky

Just a paragraph in the ST yesterday to say he had died.

I liked Fred.  I brought back a book of his from the UK - stolen from my Dad - and shall re-read it.

What a great chap. We met his brother at a show in Stratford upon Avon some years ago and he told us stories about Fred. Listening to him was just like listening on TV to his brother , who will ever forget his immortal words :

"Did you like that"  and all the time with a fag hanging out the corner of his mouth !

Another nice man who will be missed, loved his programs.

We enjoyed his programmes immensely. What was a previously boring and not cool subject became transformed into something you couldn't even get up and put the kettle on for in case you missed something. He must have made a lot of money over the years but you wouldn't have thought so because he was so ordinary.

Struck me as being horribly ironic that he had done so many dangerous things yet died of cancer, only 65 too. Poor Fred.

Mr O was once offered the chance to go up a Chimney that Fred was repairing, wishing forever after that he had, Strange enough Health and Safety issues stopped him. Also had the Chance to watch the demolition of a factory Chimney not a stones throw away from our first home......what a fantastic sight , one minute there was a chimney ,the next a pile of rubble .
