Parking at Carcassonne airport

Parking at Carcassonne airport used to be free, is this still the case ?

No, the only free parking now is the marvellously named "Kiss and Fly" lane where you just drop people off.  After that there is the car park which gives (I think) 20 mins before charges start kicking in.  Sorry, cannot say what the charges are as have never left a car there.

Payment is made by using the the machine outside the terminal but this only allows 15 minutes between the time you pay and when the ticket is used at the barrier, so, when you get stuck behind someone who thinks you pay at the barrier and blocks the exit, your ticket can run out of time!

Having said that, the new parking area is 1000 times better than the old mud heap that was there in the past.

There always was a well-surfaced parking area but it was always full of un-taxed British cars!!!!

gerona also used to be full of Brit cars that appeared to have been dumped, but as the airport is having a new multi storey (800 places)  which will be not be free plenty of work in operation these cars seem to have dissapeared.   perhaps a survey of airport car parking charges would be usefull...perpignan is free up to 20 mins then charges thereafter...Blackpool by the way is £25.00 per 24 hours!
