Rail Travel

Our younger son lives and works in the Czech Republic and travels to us in southern France at least twice a year. He won’t fly, so normally travels by rail via Germany (overnight hotel stop).

This year, instead of being in the UK for Christmas, we’ve had to change our plans and I set about booking his return the other day.

The SNCF website gave me a fare of €320 single in second class, which was to say the least a bit steep! Something made me look at the Trainline site, not really expecting it to be any better.

Answer was €150 incl an upgrade to first class. Now, explain that. Same trains, tickets emailed to here immediately, easy to use site.

I doubt btw that using them would be better than for example Eurostar’s site for travel to / from the UK (generally, the price is the price), but anything else might warrant a look-see.
