Hi

Thanks Tresco for the beautiful pictures, a lovely reminder that it really is time that we booked our next Eurotunnel crossing!  Those our our nearest beaches as well.  Although we do have to visit the area mostly during the summer we have managed to come out of season a couple of times and it has been wonderful.  If you do get a chance to post any more pictures of anything relating to the area, including inland under 'photography' it would be really nice for us and maybe others in our situation. We are not able to visit as often as we would like by far.  Many thanks again.

Gail

David, that's a monumental sea you were on.

Christine, those pictures are so representative of what that strech of coast is like at this time of year. I love that 'washed out' quality.

My pics were taken from the other side of the headland in your first 'Royan' shot.[:)]

Gail, I'll see what I can find for you. It's very sleety and windy today so it'll have to be something taken in better weather[:)]

Tresco,

From the photos I would guess the wind to be about force 9.  I have been in such weather, and worse, many times, but unfortunately I cannot lay claim to these excellent photos.

I was not on that particular ship, and the photos were sent to me by my son who works in the marine insurance industry in London.

I asked Gay to post them as I thought that they may be of interest.

"I had a great day out today. My favourite beaches (nearest to us) are those between Meschers and Royan. "

Tresco...........please don't tell everyone! we like these beaches as well.

Be careful you may find more than you bargain for out there! One day when we were walking along the beach I thought I saw a lovely piece of driftwood, when we got up close we found that it was actually a dead sanglier that had been washed up by the tide.[+o(]

Even worse, on another occasion a dead (human) body was washed up, lifeguards tried to revive the man but he had been dead too long, a fishing trip, drowning accident.

For Gail.

These were both taken the same day as before. From the same beach; a sunny one just for for you.

And from the next beach...if you look closely you can see the Isle d'Oleron and the three structures off shore that are visible in a picture Christine posted earlier. I never noticed any change in the light at all, so blame me or my 40p camera[:)]

Does anyone know what the structures are. I'm I've been told before, but I can't remember.

David those are amazing pictures! I don't get sea sickness but just looking at those makes me feel a bit queasy.[:)]

Blanche Niege, now you've put me right off wanting to visit the area.[:D]

Edit: I have just seen Tresco's photos, she has won me back.  Lovely.[:)]

Execellent!

Sorry, that was not my true intention, just that when Tresco mentioned her beach combing finds it brought back these two scary memories.

Seriously, and as I said in my earlier reply, I have to agree with Tresco that we like these beaches and make good use of them too.[:)]

My first attempt at uploading a photo on here, so hope it works.

We took this photo when on holiday on the south coast of France back in December 2003, somewhere between St Tropez and Cannes, after several days of trying to find the right place and be there at the right time

Hi Pads,

Thanks, it is one of our treasured photos, we usually visit the area at Christmas time, by taking two weeks holiday from work, we manage to turn it into three weeks away, by using the Christmas holiday in between, the daily sunshine and mild weather keep us going for the rest of the winter, bliss
