Grass cutting

I thought your question was how much to pay for getting your grass cut, not whether the gardener might pay tax or not.

Answer no less than €7.70 an hour.

My farmer/neighbour cuts mine for free because he keeps the hay and straw.  Ask around your neighbours, there might be an old boy or a farmer who would  do it for the grass cuttings for their ponies etc .  Grass/hay is currency in itself in rural France.
I thought most small businesses such as someone cutting grass that is self employed could file as a micro enterprise and pay no tax.
LOL - think you are getting muddled. Micros cannot charge and cannot claim TVA.

Although there is a ceiling on earnings we pay tax and our cotisations/insurance/subscriptions amount to around 6000euros.

So could not possible charge SMIC for gardening work. Our minimum charge is 15euros per hour for gardening/grasscutting. You will find that paying someone with cheque d'emploi (I don't know many people who charge less than 10 per hour) you'll still end up paying around 15 with the charges.
