  1. Too right we're getting more pigs, they taste too nice not to!!! Actually we are finding it difficult to find more black pigs, as the chap we bought the last two girls off isn't breeding any this year. I don't want to get the Landrace hybrids, although they put on less fat, I feel that the old traditional breeds fayre better. We don't have much shade in the fields, and the pink pigs may suffer in the sun. We made our own bacon, but aren't yet set up enough (no kitchen) to make sausages and other charcuterie. We do have three legs hanging up, tempting us every time we pass though Tony
  2. We bought in a couple of weaners last spring, kept them until they were about a year old. Had them killed chez nous (not a nice experience) and are currently enjoying probably the most expensive, but best tasting pork ever Check them out on my website at http://mauhoum.chez.tiscali.fr   Tony
  3. Hello folks Is it possible to obtain a grant to renovate an old barn? I don't mean in order to turn it into a gite, I mean to keep it as a working barn. Tony
  4.  I wasn't too sure where to post this thread, so stuck it in here and the pet section. I am looking to breed Kune Kune pigs here in France, but for the life of me I can't find any stock Does anybody out there breed, or know of anybody who breeds these pigs in France?   Tony

  6. You're wasting your time in marmande, you should be looking around Pau, much prettier with more interesting landscape   Tony
  7. There's no way that a self employed gardener could ever work for a SMIC wage. If he did he wouldn't be in business for long due to his high cotisation payments
  8. Hi there I am hoping to build a false floor in our grenier, which will be an eventual bedroom, and would like to run the electrical gaines between the two floors (if you see what I mean) The gap will be about 50mm. My question is, would that be OK with the consuel?   Tony
  9.  Hello all Im searching for any keen gardeners in and around the Pau area who would like to meet up occasionally to swap info and seeds etc. If you are interested, please PM me

  11. OK, while I'm looking at this thread, does anyone know the French for 'timing' as in engine timing?   Mauhoum
  12. I don't know of any builders in your area, why don't you look in the yellow pages. http://www.pagesjaune.fr . Does the builder have to be English?
