France is different. In UK standard lease is 6/11/12 months. In France standard lease is 3 years.

That is the case, but the renter can give 3 months notice to leave at any time during the 3 years, which can be quite useful.

Dont mind which part of France as long as the area is nice and the place is close to town i.e 10/15 mins or a beach, Let can be 12mth 24mth 36mth once there i will be staying.

Take a look at the notaire.fr site under "rechercher un bien".  There are loads and loads of rental properties available through notaires all over France.
