Poor Lily needs a home

Recommended Posts

A few days ago a cold, wet, terrified bag of bones turned up on our doorstep. After a bath, plenty of food & lots of sleep in a warm dry bed & a little TLC she has changed into a lovely young dog who the children have named Lily.
She has been to the vet but has no ID, he says she is a Pointer, about 2 years old & apart from the lack of food is in general good health. The vet wormed her & checked her over, he thinks she has been starved and/or abandoned & left to die. We cannot trace her owner & really can't keep her as we already have 2 rescue dogs, so we would like to find a home for her, we don't want to have to take her to the SPA as they have so many dogs already.
She has a lovely nature, no sign of aggression & has been great with the children, fine in the car, very affectionate, loves company & cuddles. She has shown no interest in our cats or chickens & gets on fine with both the other dogs although she is a little scared of them.

We think she would make a great family dog, she is now eating well & gaining weight & just needs a family of her own & some space to run around  to give her the life she deserves.

What a beautiful girl !! I sincerely hope you find a loving home for her. I would have her but I am struggling with my very old Cocker lady who is going down hill fast now. Our French rescue labrador would have loved to have Lily as a friend but circumstances at this time prevent me from being able to offer her a home. She is amazing !!!!!

Just echoing ValB's post.  We have an v eldery lady Lab  ( emergency vet last Sunday) and a one and a half year old girly German Pointer.  Would love to take her on but obviously not possible at the present time.  Please can I reiterate pointers are fabulous, great fun, buckets of personality and what joy taking them for walks.  Wishing you all the very best.

Just bringing Lily back up to the top, as IMHO she deserves the attention.

An update on Lily, she has spent a couple of days with a potential new family on a trial basis but with great regret they have returned her to us. She chased their free range turkeys, although she did not do them any physical harm it terrified the poor birds who did not understand the game - not good for the Xmas turkey business,so understandably not the right dog for them. They say she loves company & apart from a few puddles through the night & the turkey fetish, she behaved very well- but sadly she is not for them.

So Lily still needs a home, she is gentle, affectionate, loves people, great with kids, ok with cats & fenced in chickens ! She runs like the wind but comes back when you whistle, very sociable with other dogs. She does have some issues with house training but we are working on that & is very food orientated although putting on weight, but this is understandable given her circumstances.

Please can you help find her a new life, she is a lovely dog who just needs a little patience & understanding, lots of cuddles & TLC & she will reward you with undying affection & loyalty.
