2. Good news, Lily has been rehomed today to a local French family, tthey have 2 teenage boys & two other dogs so she will have plenty of company. Thank you to all those people who expressed an interest in her future.
3. An update on Lily, she has spent a couple of days with a potential new family on a trial basis but with great regret they have returned her to us. She chased their free range turkeys, although she did not do them any physical harm it terrified the poor birds who did not understand the game - not good for the Xmas turkey business,so understandably not the right dog for them. They say she loves company & apart from a few puddles through the night & the turkey fetish, she behaved very well- but sadly she is not for them. So Lily still needs a home, she is gentle, affectionate, loves people, great with kids, ok with cats & fenced in chickens ! She runs like the wind but comes back when you whistle, very sociable with other dogs. She does have some issues with house training but we are working on that & is very food orientated although putting on weight, but this is understandable given her circumstances. Please can you help find her a new life, she is a lovely dog who just needs a little patience & understanding, lots of cuddles & TLC & she will reward you with undying affection & loyalty.
4. A few days ago a cold, wet, terrified bag of bones turned up on our doorstep. After a bath, plenty of food & lots of sleep in a warm dry bed & a little TLC she has changed into a lovely young dog who the children have named Lily. She has been to the vet but has no ID, he says she is a Pointer, about 2 years old & apart from the lack of food is in general good health. The vet wormed her & checked her over, he thinks she has been starved and/or abandoned & left to die. We cannot trace her owner & really can't keep her as we already have 2 rescue dogs, so we would like to find a home for her, we don't want to have to take her to the SPA as they have so many dogs already. She has a lovely nature, no sign of aggression & has been great with the children, fine in the car, very affectionate, loves company & cuddles. She has shown no interest in our cats or chickens & gets on fine with both the other dogs although she is a little scared of them. We are in dept 16 near to Ruffec Thank you
5. Good news, today Indy ( the little griffon type ) has been rehomed to a lovely family in dept 86 where he will have a great life with lots of space, children & another dog to have fun with. He was lovely whilst he stayed with us & I am sure that he will give his new family lots of pleasure.  A real happy ending for this little lost boy.
6. Dear Christine I have also sent this by pm so sorry if you get it twice ! If things are still looking bleak for this little griffon we would be willing to offer him a foster home for while & try to aid re homing him through advertising him via the hotel/restaurant. Obviously this would depend on if he can get on with the other two rescue dogs & 4.5 cats ! I am actually hoping that if he likes us & vice versa he could stay for good but my other half  is currently sticking to the 2 dogs is enough line . Please let me know if we can help Many thanks Gill & Neil at La Paloma
7. Verteuil sur Charente ( 10 mins south of Ruffec - department 16) will be holding its annual night market by the side of the Charente this Thursday evening from 6pm till 12.30am. There will be lots of stalls, local produce, wine & cognac producers, arts & crafts, beer tent, food available on site & the evening finishes with a big firework display at midnight. Usually a great night
8. We have a small hotel restaurant & need  general help in the restaurant through the summer - in the past we have relied on family & friends but we really think we have exhausted all our favours for this season ! We have been asked if we would take on a 16 year old college student for a couple of sessions a week though the holidays, but we cannot find out what employment rules apply for employing students here & the easiest method of paying them We have asked our accountant but he has not got back to us... despite us chasing him, so wondered if any one else could advise us please . Many thanks
9. There is a club that covers the Charente & Deux Sevres -Les Amis Solitaires - the singles association in the Poitou-Charente The lady that runs it is Jenny Higgins - I don't have a number but she must be in the Pages Jaunes
10. Thank you Christine & for your PM . Great news - we have rehomed the white kitten & one tabby today, one through a forum & one from our posters. Tommorow a French lady is making a second visit with her children to hopefully rehome the remaining little girl - if not we have a customer who is hoping to take her home. So it seems like a happy ending for them (& us!) Must be the power of the photographs ! Thanks to all that read the posting - but there are still plenty of others desperate for good loving homes Gill (piggys)
11. Hi, have just figured out how to post a picture of these three adorable little kitties who really need deserve good homes - see previous posting. They are getting bolder everyday, playing & fighting & seem to really like being with children - my two don't want to part with them but we have too many animals already ! Please help if you can, we would be happy to deliver within an hour of Ruffec . Many thanks
12. Over the last few days we have found 3 little kittens dumped in the road behind our property, freezing cold & very hungry. They are very cute but timid, probably about 5/6 weeks old & seem in good health now, eating & drinking kitten food & curled up nice & warm in our old cat basket. Much as we would like to - we can't keep them, as we already have 3 rescue cats & two rescue dogs not to mention all the guinea pigs, goats, chickens etc ! We are in 16 near to Ruffec. Can anyone offer them a loving home/s, there are two tiny tabbies & one all white with small grey spot on head, they are adorable & deserve a better start in life than this ? We think they are 2 girls(White & Tabby) & a boy but that is pure guess work ! Sorry - don't know how to post pics on here but can email to anyone interested. Please send a p.m. Many thanks
13. We are thinking of buying some VTT bikes for guests use as we have been asked several times about the hire of bikes & nowhere locally seems to offer this. We were wondering if anyone knows the answer to the following question , as you may have come across this with your gite guests ..... If we were to charge a small daily hire rate for this should we have some additional insurance/liability in case of any guests having an accident whilst using our bikes or should we get them to sign a disclaimer along the lines of - use at your own risk ? Any advice/info welcomed !
