Anton Redman
The last time I spoke to them they had not been approved for use in France and were finding it a pretty confused process. Must be over three years ago but I would check with them. There was at least one very similar system at the Bordeaucx Lac Expo last week.
Dave&Olive
hi ok it`s a grey area .you cannot fit them to a new home , some areas totally black them but some will let you fit them if there is no other option . The only way to find out is via the mayor /local water board. Dave
fififi
We have installed a Klargester BB system at our B&B - at 2Mx2M and disharging via a reed bed filter 2.5mx1m direct into the stream behind the house - we decided to be as "green" as possible. Our local Mayor was really helpful and said to be certain to choose a system which is tested and certified to the new European standards as the rules are changing next year, and the current rules allow an "innovative" system such as the klargester anyway if you have a lack of space or clay soils/close to a river etc. He warned us away from several of the French products such as the Neve topaze, the Oxy8, corail 10, Eparco compact etc as from next June the French regs are apparently going to an obligation of results at a level of 25/25 (whatever that means - but its about doubly as strict as the current regs!) - but apparently non of these french systems can be sure of managing it and are either not certified or have failed to get it.Waste treatment systems certified CE and EN12566-3 are well above this new standard and Klar Environnement who are the French Distributors for Klargester (which are certified) give a results guarantee to this new spec - peace of mind! They also give a 15yr guarantee for the structure with 5yrs on parts. They were also really helpful and found us the installer for us who was great . . . . . they are really busy though, so sometimes they took a couple of days to get back to us. There are a couple of staff who speak English too which made it easier We are in Finistere Brittany, if anyone wants to visit, don't hesitate to ask! Its turned into a bit of a party piece, opening the lid on our new waste treatment plant and watching the wheels going slowly round . . . . . Whatamess
[:D]Just the sort of party entertainment my OH would enjoy, Fififi! He is a very strange man[geek].We understood from a Klargester rep that we spoke to at the Harrogate Homebuilder and Renovation Show last week that the Klargester systems are undergoing testing to ensure that they comply with European Standards so that they will get the appropriate approval (or whatever it is they need - its all Greek to me!).We will be based in Brittany, so I wonder if you could let me know the address of Klar Environment and the name and address of the installation company? Thanks for your response to my query and to others who responded.RegardsWhatamess

[/quote]If it is not a rude question, how much did it all cost you and what "capacity" is the system for (e.g. number of occupants). Was a reed bed a cheaper option than a filter bed or just "greener".Many thanksIan

Sustainable Building
The Non-Electric Biorock sewage treatment plant has now been passed for installation in France as of December 4th, 2010. It does not yet appear on the Approved List, but Biorock have the conformity letter sent by the French Authorities which they are more than happy to email to any person interested in a sustainable system.Details from Biorock-UK
