  1. I think that sometimes they do that just to confuse the shopper because they are about to put the price up massively. So, two weeks ago you would buy sirop at 2.54. This week on special at 2.99 Next week it's perhaps 3.65. You think - "wow, that seems expensive" Then you remember that last week it was on special. Seen this happen in England. Lucky for me I don't happen to like Sirop - de citron vert or any other colour!
  2. Oh, no, no, no!! Much too late now. Chef has gone home.
  3. Yeah, could have bought loads of booze with that!
  4. Go on, go on, go on. Do as they say. Then you will get some really good advice.
  5. Can you do something like that for mail too? I have two e-mail accounts and the default one seems to be the one I don't really use much now (but don't want to get rid of). If, for instance, I want to write to a company using their contact us facility, my computer automatically sends the email from the wrong email address. not a big problem but a bit of a nuisance.
  6. do you know - I read the whole thread and every time I read it as woodpeckers! sorry - off topic I know. ps. we have found dentists to be very reasonable here in France. Last year I was charged just 30something euros for the extraction of a wisdom tooth - plenty of anaesthetic involved too!
  7. Google to see if you have a branch of But, Conforama or Fly near you.
  8. Thanks for that advice, Montcigoux. It answers a question we were about to ask!
  9. Have any of you NW customers actually been informed yet of their intentions to start charging for withdrawals abroad? I haven't.
  10. And it doesn't seem to be nearly as scary or strict as the English MOT. Our 20 year old 2CV passed after the technician asked us if we intended to drive at night!!! ("Of course not")
  11. Just had a thought. If a notice said "ferme jusqu'a neuf heures" then you'd expect it to be open AT 9 o'clock. So, "ferme jusqu'au 9 octobre" should mean that it will open on 9th. I'd still phone to make sure though!
  12. Am hiding this thread from Mr. Bubbles. He is due for a coloscopie this year and is trying not to think about it just yet. The last one he had was here in France five years ago. He was out of my sight for about 18 minutes and during that time was rendered unconscious, had the procedure completed and regained consciousness completely. He wasn't even dopey - well no worse than usual. Magic.
  13. Not childish at all! We live in 66 and and we too are a long way down and right near the Spanish border. I love to spot my fellow PO drivers. They are nearly all driving virtually incognito these days with just the tiny 66 badge next to the number plate. Shame.
  14. That's exactly what I asked last year. I was told there was no need to sign and return it. It would have been a good idea to have explained that on the form.
  15. From what I remember being taught at school, there is always a way of avoiding the subjunctive. This often entails using "si" As in "je ne sais pas si je pourrai revenir avant ...."
  16. So why not plump for "l'ecurie" and then hunt for a suitable adjective to follow? one that is inclusive and might attract fishermen as well as business folk.
  17. Yes, Theiere. When I use the quote function it gives gobble de gook
  18. yes, that works as you can see. that is what I use for cut and paste. watch out, everyone. I'll be quoting you from now on. ps. but, just realised that this method doesn't show that I am quoting. It simply copies.
