  1. Norman I read this information on line It's apparently from "The Connexion": Let's hope for once they have got it right. ? A booster Covid vaccine dose will be obligatory for all over-65s for their pass sanitaire (health pass) to continue to be valid from December 15. After this date, over-65s who received their second dose more than six months and five weeks before will have to have had a booster to avoid their health pass being deactivated. However, if by December 15 six months have not passed since your second dose, you will still be able to use your pass as normal, as long as you go for your booster when required.
  2. So what about those like us who due to earlier testing positive with no symptoms were told we only needed one shot, they then changed their minds and in August said we needed two. So as our second shots were in August the booster can't be given till after six months. I think he's making it up as he goes along the campaign trail.
  3. Hereford, She may be an adult to you , but in my world she is a child. As for your comment that she writes her own speeches, if you believe that well that's your opinion, not mine. I drive a medium size car that is very economical of diesel, so much so that in the UK before I re registered it in France the "road tax" was £30 per annum, also our recycling bin is always fuller than our waste bin. ? We can't buy local as there aren't any shops in our village.
  4. The COP conference with several thousand delegates who have been flying in private jets and demos is in Scotland. The demonstrators are in Glasgow, I wouldn't imagine there are many French schoolchildren in attendance.
  5. I'd like to know why they all either weren't at work or School, as for the angry child spouting scripts written by her parents, she's getting boring.
  6. NationWide Flexiplus account and any ATM going. Some tell you if they charge, if it does we don't use them. I'm sure that some banks even in the UK charge for other banks credit card withdrawals. Well according to the Grauniad 25% of British ATMs charge withdrawal fees.
  7. I have my PP paid into my UK bank account, then using my Visa card take any money needed out of a local ATM. The bank I use gives me free withdrawals at as near as darn it to the spot rate. Why should Brits and that includes me should get special treatment because we live abroad? Just saying.
  8. So the new look forum, what happened to active topics? or is this the end of the Complete France Forum?
  9. Not the first time M&S has shut up shop in France, I can't remember what the excuse was for the first closure.
  10. We had the Fosse inspection about 5 years ago, it was deemed non-conforme, only 2000 litres and breathing pipes not correct. As we had been told at a meeting in the town hall they would have a list of artisans I spoke to the Mayor asking for the list, "why" he asked, "Fosse is non-conforme" I replied, "everybody's fosse in the village is non-conforme" was his comeback. "They said I will be fined if I don't remedy it" I said, he said "they SPANC don't fine you, I do, if I fine you, I must fine everybody in the village including myself, is it working alright", I said yes, then leave it alone was his answer. Wonderful French practicality at it's best.
  11. In my opinion, the only thing he has got is an extreme case of hypocrisy.
  12. Oh Mr Barnier what shall we do? Barnier — who late last month announced he wanted to be the conservative candidate in next year's French presidential election — on Thursday caused a media firestorm after reportedly calling for "a referendum on the question of immigration" and saying France must regain its "legal sovereignty in order to no longer be subject to the judgments" of the Court of Justice of the European Union and the European Court of Human Rights.
  13. Nothing in the manifesto said anything about the co-vid, so I think a little latitude should be allowed. We live in difficult times.
  14. If the certificate has the QR code it is fine, yesterday myself and two others showed our mobiles and my French Friend who only has an older phone showed the paperwork which was scanned by the waiter and was accepted.
  15. Do me a favour then and ignore me forever more, Anybody whose life is so empty that they keep past quotes from a forum is very sad.
  16. Why can't you reply to a perfectly genuine question without snide comments?
  17. We have lots of them living in between the double Oak lintels over our windows. I fitted screens to keep them out of the house. The good news is they eat enormous amounts of mosquitoes apparently.
  18. nomoss wrote: "It's a pity all the public-spirited citizens - some not even French - who protest about Covid passes don't think it worth trying to do something about violent crime in Marseille and many other cities, isn't it?" Forgive me for being naive but who are these people?

    Antigen test

You have to book the test and pay in advance before you leave France, you get a code which you have to put on your passenger location form. So why wouldn't you do the test? You might get away with it if you did a day trip, but apart from that, I believe they can check up on you and you could get a fine for not complying. Ask one of your mates from another forum they know everything about the UK apparently. ?? Ah, there you go Thierry answered your question. Sorry T, I didn't see your post before I commented.
  20. I'm not sure why they suddenly changed tack Norman, but for whatever reason, it was good news for us. The article I read and showed to the chap at the reception said it was to do with the new negotiation between the UK and France to try to boost the holiday traffic. What did impress me was that the vaccination centre was packed with youngsters getting their vaccinations. Two young lads aged around 17 or 18 who were in front of us were asked if they had parental consent, both said no so were asked to fill out a form and then let in to proceed with the procedure. Maybe Mr Macrons health pass to let people into events is working.
  21. Just a heads up to anybody that might be in the same boat as my wife and myself were. We only received one vaccination shot because we had earlier tested positive, and under the French system one shot was OK as they said that if you tested positive you should have "antibodies". Well, yesterday my wife got an E/Mail from the connexion, a publication that I'm very sceptical about as its record of misinformation is quite high. It said that people who like us who only had one shot could now get a second one, as it seems that one shot wasn't a full vaccination for travel purposes; so the French authorities had said we could now get a second vaccination. Mrs P who decided to strike while the iron was hot immediately got onto the doctolib site and found vacancies for today. As I said I was still sceptical but we showed up, sat at the reception desk and told the person there our history and that we would like a second shot, there was a bit of head-scratching and he went off and came back 1 minute later saying yes that is correct, filled out our forms 45 minutes later we left fully vaccinated. So a big thank you to the French health service as you have saved us a 10-day quarantine if we get back to the UK to visit the Grandchildren.
  22. Immigrants won't get an ID card your CdS is sufficient. The French seem to use a women's maiden name for official things. By the way, that "19th-century" island is still in Europe.
  23. As we drive up the St Calais road towards LeMans there are normally about 10 white vans parked in various parts of the woods alongside the road. Just past the roundabout that features the Wright Brothers Memorial is a large military barracks. The vans appear to be very busy. ??
  24. if you are not a national of the country which issued your licence you will need a document, dated less than three months, from the issuing body of your foreign licence declaring that you have the right to drive and the translation if not in French by a sworn translator. I would contact the DVLA who will provide you with the appropriate document, then you need to get it translated.
  25. I really don't understand the reluctance from sections of people in the UK to accept ID cards, probably the same mob who don't want vaccinations of health passes. It's funny that the French who as a nation tend to be anti-authority accept them with It would seem no problems. Am I right in thinking that most EU countries have ID cards?
