1. This woman will never loose any sleep, she has no conscience, and can  turn any adversity into a financial advantage by manipulating her position of being the spouse of a former Prime minister. Remember him? The one who helped kill the old Labour party. In case you didn't realise it, I hate them both, but the upside is they deserve each other.
  2.

I sometimes travel from the UK to France towing a small car (-750Kilos) behind me on an "A-frame" rigid towing hitch. (That's the one which tows AND steers the car). However, I keep hearing that these towing devices are illegal because all four wheels should be off the ground; ie: all cars must now be towed ONLY on a full trailer. Is this true? Only, I often see camper vans on French roads - towing small cars behind them on an A-frame.
"A" frames and towing dollies are only allowed for the recovery of vehicles - in the UK or France. There are a couple of issues: one is that the mass of the car being towed that has to be taken into consideration is the GROSS mass, not the kerb weight. You don't say what the car is, but from what I have seen, the only sub 750kg gross mass car available is an Aixam. Have a look here and here for details. I looked at this in depth some time ago after acquiring a towing dolly. Regards Pickles
I think you maybe wrong Pickles?  Have a look at "car a tow" website legals http://www.caratow.com/ Also the Smart car, curb weight is around 1600lbs
  3. "No Sh1t Sherlock ................... Who wrote this cr@p" Somebody who it appears has now collected over £9000 and probably more on the way,
  4. Husband says to his wife if I died would you take a lover?  "probably" says the wife.  Would you let him into my house? says the husband, "I suppose so" says the wife, would you take him into my bed? says the husband, "I would imagine so" says the wife.  Would you let him use my golf clubs? said the husband,  "No said the wife, they wouldn't be any good for him,  he's left handed"
  5.
There is nothing unusual in using the heel and toe on the pedal board. That is the standard technique for playing the organ. His playing is a bit of a mess, going for general impressive 'effect' rather than clarity of detail. What is more impressive is that he is achieving this on a 'tracker action', where the keyboards mechanical links to the pedals for example (you can see keys going down that he isn't playing with his fingers, because they are linked to pedals by rods). This makes the action very heavy to play, a bit like driving a car with no power steering, and in which you have to double de-clutch. On the whole the AVF is close to the National Front, welcoming white middle class Europeans to their comfortable world. Were there any North African or Asian or African 'new' residents on your tour?
Norman you are a plonker! [:P]
  6.  I bet they can't believe their luck that the French " missed  out" on staging the games. And that their Grandchildren won't have to spend the rest of their lives paying the bills for an event that is totally overrated and excessively expensive.
  7. Certainly not,  strange isn't it? They now give their newspapers away free, but want to charge for news on the internet
  8.
Having been told by several people how wonderful "Avatar" was, I went to see it last night.  What a load of old c*bl*rs!  Beautiful to look at and undoubtedly well executed but how much talent was wasted on a story which was far too long and drivel to boot? I should not drift too far from the thread title so would say that if you love, as I do, Les Parapluies de Cherbourg, then check out Jacquot de Nantes whilst you're at it.
"Avatar", Kings new clothes  Coops.   By the way the jazz at Les Ecuries at the family village  last night was really good; especially for an amateur band. It appears that it is going to be a regular occurrence. Entrance was 14 Euro including a snack and one drink.  Great venue, good atmosphere, good crowd and good jazz. Only trouble was driving back to 41 in thick fog. But hey, it was worth it.
  9. Poor old Dog will have apoplexy. With all due respect to the feelings of  veggies I really think you should withdraw this article Quillan, on the other hand leave it there, I love it  [6]
  10. I appreciate what you are saying Mac  and I'm sure that your business is thoroughly reputable in its aims and dealings. But unfortunately that doesn't mean all are, and the one  my mate used,  the Gas Company, told him out and out lies, i.e. That "the parts are not available any more" condemned his boiler, shut it off and left him without heat while the new arrangements were put into place. The area manager after investigating the incident said " hands up it's our mistake we are very sorry". My pal was sharp enough to do some research and won his case, but I wonder how many vulnerable people there are out there who get conned, especially as the man doing the conning is registered and has the authority to shut your system down. Anyway Mac next time I have a question I now know who to ask, thanks ever so much .  [B]
  11.
Just to reassure British Gas customers out there.... BG would never carry out an installation that wasn't to regs just as they would never condemn an installation solely to generate business.
A friend of mine in Devon had a Boiler problem, he called out the Gas Company he had a service contract with,  the gas engineer condemned the Boiler and told my friend that the parts were no longer available for that model. £4500 and a new boiler later, my friend spoke to a plumber who did some research and said " these parts are available and are £150". Upshot, after an enquiry the Gas Company have repaid my mate £3500. Moral please do your research before handing over large amounts of money. I wonder how much commission the little rat of an engineer lost on that deal.
  12.
Nor do I steal. And I am in PAYE meaning every pound I earn I pay 45p in the pound. If I were self employed it would be more like 5p. I make a contribution which I make without complaint, but I have a clear concience having paid taxes for 29 years. Have you?
I am sorry Baypond,  as a PAYE employee you do not pay 45% on every pound. This will probably be a first, but I must agree with Mr Dog.I have been freelance/self employed for over 40 years and have been lucky enough to pay more tax than I thought possible, lucky in the fact that I always worked. I never paid 5% tax, please god I did, as instead of a cottage in middle France I would now have a Villa in the south.  By the way I have paid income tax for 53 years and still do, when I finished paying National Insurance I realised that to qualify for benefit you  needed  44 years contributions, by then I had paid for 50 years when I asked for a rebate I got told to shall we say,"take a running jump" Indeed I like you I have a clear conscience. Oh and by the way Dog, this rare agreement doesn't mean you and I are mates! [:P]
  13.
NickP, perhaps it should be me who should do the explaining.  Don't you see my reply was meant to be a joke ,a deliberate "misunderstanding" of what you said? OK, so they are caring, etc. BUT to Poles.....oh, nevermind, just my sense of the ridiculous which possibly doesn't come across on the Forum but you would have seen me laughing fit to burst if we were talking face to face.[:D]
Sorry Sweet I didn't see your reply as a "joke" and I'm normally receptive to most things amusing. I was disappointed in a Company who callously sacked British workers for bare faced profit, being called "caring". Glad to now realise that we are singing from the same hymn sheet.  Lets hope that remark doesn't upset "dog" and that he demands it should be the Koran [:P]
  14.

"The real tragedy here is that the ethos of Cadburys - humane, caring, welfare-oriented - will be sacrificed to a company whose values are those of naked capitalism."  Are you talking about the same Cadburys who moved part of their production to Poland?
So, they're "humane, caring, welfare-oriented" towards Polish people.......thought we were all the same under the skin?[;-)]
I think my dear you missed the point, the post I replied to, was unhappy  that Cadburys was being taken over by an American company only interested  in profit. So I asked the question , "was this the same Cadburys who moved part of their production to Poland", for profit not worrying that they then sacked a lot of British employees. i.e. That they weren't very caring about the out of work British. Sorry I didn't think it was neccessary to explain in detail, but there you go     [Www]
  15. So Mr Dog, your comment "Gollum like"  I'm not a fan of Tolkien but I do understand the Gollum reference" but "Take your trolley and......" would you like to expand it,  as It's  not an expression I'm familiar with?  [:D]
  16. "The real tragedy here is that the ethos of Cadburys - humane, caring, welfare-oriented - will be sacrificed to a company whose values are those of naked capitalism."  Are you talking about the same Cadburys who moved part of their production to Poland?
  17.
Never mind the price of truffles we have just got a 500 euro water bill! We have a small house but the garden is a good size and my only real interest, what do I do cut my throat or buy loads of cactus???? We have just spent a fortune on a drip system for watering - lot of good that did then
Dig yourself  a well. We have one that had been blocked up by a previous owner, I spent all summer unblocking it and lifting rubble and stone blocks out of it and as soon as it was clear, I got the water checked at the local laboratory (50Euro). When I got the OK  I  then filled the grandchildren's swimming pool, 10,000 litres, and spent all this summer, the best one and driest for years, pumping water out of the well and watering the garden, (1 acre)  free, gratis, brilliant.
  18.

Do you think he'll get a place in the English cricket team now?
Great comment from a troll
Thanks for the Gollum like comment - you may not have caught the irony. Asians have traditionally been ignored when it comes to the national team.
From your comment it is obvious that you do not know what a troll is in internet terms, I suggest you do a bit of research. As for irony there was nothing ironical about your Cricket comment, in fact you obviously know nothing about cricket.  Quite a lot of "Asians" have played cricket for England, one even captained the side.
  19. Something Veggies forget is that meat eaters are doing the environment a favour by eating cows, as every cow that gets killed  means less damage to the environment by methane. By the way Coops I'm going to the Family Village  near  Le Mans tomorrow for a  jazz evening, are there any burger bars there?  [:D]  [:D]
  20.
It's condensate running va the sparge pipe to outside drain. 10 litres of expansion on a sealed vessel would be a doozie bearing in mind there will be an expansion vessel fitted if a sealed system.
Thanks a lot BIG MAC you have put my mind at rest. By the way doozie is a new word for me, I looked it up and the urban dictionary says,  "a large shot of alcohol", so cheers. Funny isn't it, they say fitting these new energy efficient boilers  helps the environment, and it wastes all that " hot Water" there must be a use for it somewhere? This thought prompted my original question.
  21.  I had  a new De Dietrich GTU 1200V oil fired boiler fitted in our French house. The waste water from the boiler runs into an outside pipe and as it gets a bit chilly here in the winter (Loir et Cher), I uncoupled the pipe and directed it into a bucket in the building. I'm surprised with the amount of water it collects, about 10 litres a day, would that be normal? Apart from that, the system seems good and is a lot quieter and fuel efficient than the old one. The manual says that when the water tank heats up there is  expansion of the water, and the excess will run off via the drain pipe, but it doesn't say what sort of quantity there would be.  To me 10 litres seems a lot. Any advice  from you guys who know about these things would be welcome.
  22.
Do you think he'll get a place in the English cricket team now?
Great comment from a troll
  23.

OK Dog we get the point.  No need to say it twice! Carnivores dare not ever complain to veggies about the appaling muck they serve up in the name of food  because all they ever get as a result is a lecture, not an improvement in the cuisine.
You are so brave admitting how difficult it is to get good food in carnovore circles. I think you should be applauded for having the bravery to admit the muck carnivores eat. It is so sad that carnivores serve appalling slop and dare not admit it to veggies. We wouldn't give you a lecture just some pointers towards flavoursome fresh exciting food.
I think one thing this thread proves is that being a veggie hampers your ability to read other peoples comments correctly. Also dog, in respect to your comment about me "not being your friend" thank goodness for that, as I would hate to have to turn down your invitation to lunch. Must go as I have to make myself a late night snack, a lovely  sausage sandwich.
  24.
Because you can do what you want in your own home. You'll always be better fed in a veggie house and have good wholesome fresh food that tastes superb - never had a complaint and the sad carnivores never miss the boring flesh they usually eat through misguided habit.
Typical propaganda put out by Veggies. Not so my friend, most vegetarian food is soooooo boring, also most of them look like death warmed up and suffer from flatulence. Get a good bacon sandwich in you , you know it makes sense!  Imagine having to go into a greasy spoon and asking for a tofu sandwich??  As to never having a complaint, if you say so.

Funny how so called "financial experts"  have a humour bypass operation as soon as they qualify.
