1. If you don't have the correct documents, I don't think it will make any difference where you go.
2.
Thats what I thought, the car insurance lady seemed to think that too, that Marmande would have to forward to Agen then back again.!
Definitely not, you can walk out of the door with your carte gris within 5 mins.
3. It happens in the UK people forget to take off the plastic film protecting the plates, maybe the same here.
4. Your 2047 form will turn up soon, they are sent out separately. if you want, you can download it from the Impots site.
5. Try this translator and ask it to say the words, you can control the speed from a menu or by using punctuation.
6. I have had the same problem in the UK and in France, it was caused by a faulty (mid position valve?), not closing properly and allowing hot water pass through to the radiators, when heating the hot water.
7.
Goodness! thanks for your answers!! Maricopa, you did indeed, but just said they won´t be there, actually having thought about it..of course VE day, penny dropped watching Foyle´s War on DVD last night!! Ernie, home and dry? .. we hope so! Rivets not screws...as in Spain. We are just happy to fit them ourselves, you have no idea how many number plates you see in Tenerife that look like the fitter had several litres too many of Sangria!! Gosub, if we go to Marmande, can we get the Carte Gris the same day??....... Anyone know if Prefecture in Marmande or Agen open on a Monday??
Yes, you will get your Carte Gris straight away in Marmande if all your paperwork is OK. I am sure they will be open on Monday.
8.
Well thanks for that and yes they would appear to be cheaper in the UK. We have a new Roadys just opened up in the town and there is a Leclerc here too so will pop in and get a quote. I imagine the ones you order on-line are sent without acid so you would have to buy that locally I assume or am I wrong?.......................JR
I am not sure it would be cost effective or even possible to by one online, however you can buy the acid without problem in France, some battery's you buy are dry, depends on where you buy them from.
9.
Yum..............yum, mouth is watering as I write!
A nice French phrase for this, is something like  "j'ai déjà l'eau de la bouche" I am sure I will be corrected if it's not quite right.
10.
Hi we have lots of stuff to sell - household items, loads of tools, bric a brac, furniture etc. I would like to set up some kind of photo album with photos and price/description so that I can then post a link for people to look at. I think this would be much quicker than having to answer individual queries and sending out phtos each time to individuals. Can anyone suggest the best way to go about this please - in simple terms !
You don't say where you are, but you can advertise free in your local Angloinfo forum[6]
11. Battery's are expensive in France, you can try Feu vert, Roady or Leclerc or any of the other chaines, but they are not cheap. Comparison for a diesel battery in the UK.
12. "Whilst I purchase lots of things over the internet so am far from anti you must remember that you need the optician first.  At about £20 for a half hour eye test, that earns them less than a car mechanic.  I want the person who sorts out my eyes to be able to afford decent equipment and be properly trained and up to date.  They need to make a return somewhere." I am sure there would be plenty of car mechanics in the UK, who would love to earn £20 per hour never mind £40 an hour.
13. No matter where you are in France. You can email in English to: [email protected] unless things have changed recently.
14. Try searching for vices cachés, here is one response http://www.maisonbrico.com/index.phtml?lng=FR&srub=157&iart=2171&Vices-caches-dans-une-maison-apres-l-achat-
15.
I'm just trying to fill in this form to go with my tax declaration, and I've fallen at the first fence. Section 1 - headed "Identite du (ou des) Declarants" - asks for my name, my address, and my quality. Quality......? I thought that was abolished during the revolution - Liberte, Egalite, Fraternite. What am I supposed to put there?
Private individual (particulier) or a company name
16. Why don't you go to the sub prefecture in Marmande? closer to you and parking opposite.
17. Do as Slast says, it will be worth it in the end, and it won't cost too much.
18.
When you're up and running can you describe your set up as I'm still not entirely sure I understand what is necessary?
It's already up and running, very easy to setup, I have a quad LNB (a dual LNB would do, if you don't want to feed any more TV's) on my ex sky dish (no need to alter any settings on the dish), and to get the best from the recorder I have twin coax cables from the LNB going to the Humax PVR and that's it.
19. Thanks to Bob T for recommending"Satbuyer", my Humax PVR arrived today as scheduled.
20.
And do they do prescription sunglasses?  I can't make it out on the websites (forgive the pun!).  John
I think you may have to get your prescription checked,[:D] http://www.glasses2you.co.uk/index_sunglasses.htm
21. After doing a backwash, do you then do a rinse? after stopping the pump before each operation of course.
22. "Amazon will now sell electricals to Europe... " Oh no they won't[6] I tried this week to buy a Humax PVR recorder from them, they say it can't be delivered to France[8-)]
23.
I have my last prescription from Specsavers in the UK(dated 2007) and am due to have an eye test when I go over in 10 days time. If I have to have new specs do these online opticians do varifocals as well as single lens glasses? tuppence
Yes they do, you upload a photo of yourself and give them some measurements, see HERE
24. I would say, you have had an inspection of your fosse system. It's not for mains drainage.
