1. 15 transits of chosen section of Alis route.
2. I know it doesn't help your situation but we have a speed camera near us that we witnessed flashed at nothing. We were approaching it down the hill and it just flashed, we were to far away and well under the speed limit anyway and there was nobody else within the area. Maybe it was this..http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvYxXBMqEOM Sorry
3. You can always try Audi France there address is. Customer Relations Services 11, av. Boursonne BP 67 02601Villers Cotterêts Cedex Telephone 09 69 36 86 12 Good luck

5.
I would recommend renting a mini digger. Our local hire shop is some 20km away and they charge 100 Euros for the day including delivery and collection, it may say you a bad back plus its good fun. The guy spent about 30 minutes with me giving instruction on how to use the thing, its not that difficult.
I have sorted out a mini digger for free, a friend has one and is prepared to do the work for me.:-)
6.
You will be wanting a CAT and Genny (CAT scan and signal generator) I guess you may be able to rent them in France ---I absolutely didn't rent one here to use during hols. If it were me I would simply lay in a new Poly service and be done with it.
I think that is what I am going to do lay a new pipe because I don't think the property has ever been attached to mains water, the clue being that when the water company changed the meter to the latest model the old meter was reading 0000 plus I think the pipework that we have attached to our end of the meter is just a short piece. I wonder how long it will take me to dig a 60 meter trench!!!! I could be gone some time.
7.
The water company (and we also had one for professional purposes) will have a metal detector to follow the pipework usually. They should also have a record of the installation or give you the name and details of the company who did the original as every installation is recorded somewhere and shouldhave plans that would have been submitted to the local mairie and to guage the cost.
It turns out that the water company has recorded the pipework but only to the property boundary.
8. Having been told that there was no mains water or meter at my property I visited the local water company for a devis for said mains water connection.(we have been using a well for the past three years) They said they would send an engineer out to calculate costs and said that if I wanted to go ahead it would be about 4 months before they would start work as they would have to contact other service providers and other residents!! The engineer arrived as stated and said that we have a connection to the water supply as he remembers turning the supply off in 2005. After some hunting around the boundary of the property we eventually found the box with the meter inside buried under a large hedge. However the meter was not connected to the pipework that went towards the property and I have no idea where this pipework enters the property (if it does at all). We connected the mains to this pipework and turned the water on, there were no floods any where no sound of running water.... nothing. Is there any device that will read where this pipework is running too as it is obviously capped somewhere underground. All help gratefully received.
9. Have followed instructions to check pressure in ballon have emptied water from ballon and pumped up to 2 bar (wasn't sure how much pressure was required) refilled ballon and I now have a constant supply of water at a much better pressure with no pulsing. So thanks once again to Sid and louloulaloopski for their help and supplying the links. Lets hope that it lasts a month or two as i'm in the process of connecting to mains water. Cheers
10. Thanks both for your links and help. Happy New Year.
11. I always knew that I would have a "bladder" problem the older I got!!!!!!!! Thanks for the link..
12. Hi all and hope you had a good Christmas and looking forward to the New Year? Our water supply is from a well which is served by a submersible pump. I have a feeling that this pump is on its last legs as the water pressure is fluctuating with the pump kicking in and out continually when we open a tap. I have spoken to our French plumber who cannot help as he doesn't deal with pumps so i am looking for anyone that can deal with this problem and if any of the forum members can make any suggestions it would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
13. 'Jet' is what I meant and I say about €16 but not really sure as it is included in the price of the service. And yes my chauffagiste uses the proper equipment with the probe pushed into the flue and a printed read out at the end. And yes I do use premium 'Rubis' fuel. And yes agree with all the pipework, it's amazing how it all goes together!!!!!
14. I have an Atlantic Franco Belge optima condens 4000 series 35kw oil fired boiler installed in my property in 2009 and it has been faultless for the past 3 years. The injector does soot up and is changed at the annual service for a cost of about 16€. Our chimney is over 30 foot in height and causes no problems basically it only emits steam. Are you sure that it has been set up correctly as in the operating times have been set on the boiler. Our operating manual is quite intense and when we had it installed it would run at the wrong times of the night and I had to tweak the settings to get it to operate as we wanted. Sorry can't be of any other help.
15. I am a Nordnet user and have been for the past 11 months, in that time I have had no disconnection problems and have had a constant 10MB download and 1MB up load up until October when it changed to 12MB and 2MB at no cost to me. If I have any complaint with the system is that they stick rigidly to the fair use policy so if you exceed it then you are screwed right back to less than dial up speeds....it happened to me once when i first got it, needed to download to two satnavs which were over 8GB files, I learnt my lesson. should not be a problem for most users. Nordnet use either satellites at 28.2 or 9 degrees depending on what system you take out. I am using their tooway system at 9 degrees. The kit comes in two boxes and is delivered overnight from sign up via DHL and you can either opt to install your self (fairly straight forward with very good instructions) or pay for someone else to install which i think should be included in the price.. HTH
16. Only sure way to save them is to unplug everything when there is a chance of thunder/lightening storms.
17. I had the same problems as alpinejohn, although my bike is a ST1300 Pan European. I tried to get Honda UK to send me the correct COC but when they checked the one they had sent me they said that that was the correct one. I was also told by Honda France that my bike was too powerful for France and should not bring it here.... My local dealer contacted Honda France by phone and the relevant paperwork was sent to me. It was four pages where you had to list the part numbers (e number) of things like exhausts, tyres, spark plugs/caps, mirrors, chassis, engine and all lights including rear reflecters. (IIRC). Dealer changed the ECU/PGMFI and keys and signed/stamped all documentation. Visit to DREAL/DRIRE to confirm that E numbers tallied, as alpinejohn states 10 min job. Eventually got Carte Gris 10 months after initial contact with Honda France. So you have got to persevere. Good luck.
18. Nothing surprises me any more and I don't know how these main concessionaires are getting away with it. I have just had an oil and filter change on my car dealer wanted €130 + parts (-: Got it done by local independent for €47 all in using genuine part (filter). Also had a quote from Fiat for cambelt/water pump change on camper at an amazing €892 got the job done again by independent for half that price.
19.

It depends where you look for a conversion factor but a corde is roughly equal to 3 stères, so 150€ would be about right, n'est-ce pas? [geek]
3.62 steres is a cord so €145, yes - but do they sell it in cords here or in 3 steres? But as I said, is 10 cords an average amount? I thought people were changing to wood because it's cheaper as well as sustainable but not if it takes 10 cords to get through the winter!
The 10 Cordes I was talking about was for a house with a wood burning boiler and wood fire and yes they do sell wood by the corde here in the Limousin.
20.
Crikey - I wonder how much it costs to replace an oil boiler with a woodburning one??
With wood at €150 a chord (here anyway) how much would you use in a season, friends of ours use on average 10 chords, and the cost of changing a boiler would that be economical. If you had your own wood supply I suppose it would be in the long term.
21. I am in the process of changing insurance companies due to a large increase from my current insurer. I have asked current insurer on 4 separate occasions for relevé d'informations for the dates 1/10/2010 to 1/9/2012 and on 4 occasions they have sent the relevé to the 1/10/2011. This is driving me mad, maybe they don't want me to change companies and are just being awkward. Is there anything else I can do to get this information. Regards.
22. Shame they dont check them around here, they would make a fortune what with all the illegal brit reg non mot cars...
23.
No, you can call 1014 or go into an Orange shop. They need 7 days notice. Danny
Thanks for that but it's the address i want.
