  1. Hi all, Is this a standard tax bill? Is there still a tax professionnel bill to come too? Thanks
  2. Thats OK then. Most people here seem to have theres already. Thanks
  3. Has anyone not yet received their tax form back? We sent ours in on the last week it was due but still thought it should have been back by now.
  4. One of my favs too so I mastered making them myself. Bit fiddly but definitely worth the effort and theyre far nicer than the shop bought ones!
  5. I think theyre standard products as theyre in all the HyperU/SuperU too - but who decided that things like marshmallow fluff are a typical British food? [8-)] Anyway, I found contact email addresses for my local supermarkets and asked the question. I shall wait to see how accomodating they really are.
  6. I have heard that you can ask at the big supermarkets for your favourite English items to be stocked and they will accomodate. Has anyone ever tried this?
  7. Is there fruit on your seedlings yet? I think its going to be too late otherwise. I grow various squashes and theyre all done now with seedlings going out in May as they take a long time to grow and ripen.
  8. He was a bit silly to ignore advice about not letting it out tho. Cant blame the snake!
  9. Without wanting to steal your thread, I would like to buy a lizard but havent seen any reptile shops in my area. Does anyone know of any please in the Vendee (85) and as to the standard they are kept?   After putting in various words to try to find a place in teh pages jaune, I typed pet shop and voila, theres a shop in Challans. Theyre showing a python and a chameleon in their video.
  10. Hi there, Hope Im in the right section!! Am trying to plan a holiday and fancy the Cote D'Azur but have been told by several people that although its not that expensive to stay at a caravan park, the price of the food and drink in the restaurants is very expensive and a coffee could cost upto 6 euros! I live in The Vendée and can generally get a 3 course meal for around 12 euros including a carafe of wine. Is it just certain touristy areas that are very dear and if we stayed away from seafront restaurants could still find a good deal? Can anyone advise me please?
  11. Some of the things do seem bizarre dont they especially when there are equivalents in French. I too buy crumpets and beg people to bring them out for my son who adores them! Ive tried to make them but 'Mummy they just dont taste the same' about sums it up lol. I like English sausages for making sausage rolls and scotch eggs, the French sausagemeat is too meaty, whereas the English ones have more cereals and rubbish in so are smoother.
  12. Would it be possible to put prices on there? Im quite a distance from the shop but if I knew what the costs were I might be tempted to go over there
  13. Yes I dont think its going to be very practical anyway.
  14. OK thanks very much both, will pass on the info.
  15. Hi there, Some family wanna come visit from the UK by plane then fly on to Spain, probably Alicante. Ive looked at La Rochelle, Nantes & Poitiers airports websites (these are not the most user friendly sites Ive ever been on!) but seems there are no flights on to Spain from those. Has anyone had an experience of flying to Spain from here please or perhaps the other way around would be possible? Cheers
  16. Will I need a special number to use the on-line form? We still havent recd our tax forms even tho we have previously filled one in. Ive emailed the tax office asking them to send one and theyve told me to do it online. Im sure I read somewhere that I need a special allocated number to do this - am I right?
  17. Im in the Vendee, we have a Lidl in every town! Can u not find digestives in the English bits of your supermarkets?
  18. I have 2 recipes here for cheesecake. Its my favourite dessert ever and I missed this the most! Dessert - dead easy. Crush up packet of digestive biscuits (I found the cheap ones from Lidl with the choc on work the best). Add 55g butter to pan and melt it. Add crushed biscuits and coat with butter. I use foil to line the bottom of a glass pie dish but u could use foil dishes, add the biscuit base and press down with spoon. eave to cool in fridge. Meantime, put 500g of mascapone. Add 2-4 tbsp of sifted icing sugar depending on sweetness of tooth (u get the pleasure of tasting as u go alone!). Then add the rind and juice of either a lemon or 2 limes. Mix together and keep testing that the flavour is right for you, if theres any left place on top of the base. U could grate some more rind on the top or grate some choc or sprinkles or nothing. Chill. easypeasy and dead yummy!   Dessert - easy but take youre time! Again use packet of digestives, crush. 55g butter melted in pan, add biscuits. Put into dish. Chill. In a bowl put 175g cream cheese. Then add a little at a time of 150ml single cream and tin of condensed milk. If u put it all in at once it wont be thick enough and there will be a huge mess on your base lol. So do it slowly. Again, keep tasting to check how u like it! Then add the juice and rind of a lemon (or limes), do this bit by bit too and use a hand whisk. The juice makes the mixture curdle and thicken. When its how u like it, pour over base. This is extremely rich and would only need a small piece!
  19. Had wondered whether I could substitute coconut milk/cream for normal cream in my korma - youve just answered my question lol.
  20. Yes, thats all good advice too, thanks. Just a shame as I have set dishes that I make well which I do for visitors but all of them include things she cant eat, mainly creamy, cheesy, yummy dishes. Saves piling on the calories tho I suppose lol.
  21. Mmmm potato bread sounds yummy! Definitely gonna give that a try - thanks very much
  22. Hadnt though of soya milk! And vegetable margarine will look for that. Thanks for your help :)
  23. Yes I had thought to ask her to bring some stuff out with her. I wanted to be able to get a meal prepared ready for when we get back from the airport with them rather than having to cook late at night. Shes probably limited with weight allowance too for heavy stuff like flour.
  24. Thanks Clair for those addresses - will have a go at finding them next week! Water Rat - thats what I needed, the names of things to buy, thanks for that. Could I make bread from the Sarrasin flour? Cooperlola, our SuperU has a fine selection but didnt know what to look for or what the names of the alternatives were. Rice cakes are a good idea tho, thanks.
